Hiya,

The official Wotapalava site at PlanetOut still lists Sinéad for "some
selected dates." I'm wondering if anyone knows what these dates are, what
have the people who bought tickets been told by the organizers? Amy? Anyone
else??

Secondly, the new Ghostland album should be out in the UK by now. Anybody
heard Sinéad's tracks yet?

I hope everyone's doing alright and enjoying tha summer!! ;-)

Cheers,

Deniz

Hi,

http://www.wotapalava.com announces that the festival has been moved to the
next summer. The site also says the tickets will be refunded...

So that's it!
The chapter's closed.

LOL!! ;-))
The organization SUCKED right from the start -- they put Sinéad's name on
the bill without a proper contract or something, and sold lotsa tickets like
she's really doing the the show...
What a palaver!!!

WOTAPALAVA OFF

The Neil Tennant organised "openly gay" festival of the USA, 'Wotapalava',
has been cancelled, it has been announced.

The Pet Shop Boys were set to appear at the extensive list of shows
alongside Soft Cell, the Magnetic Fields and Rufus Wainwright, which were
due to begin this month in Florida.

A message was posted on the events website, wotapalava.com, yesterday (July
2nd), which reads: "Wotapalava is moving to next year. Ticket refunds will
be available from original point of purchase. We will publish further
information about this ASAP."

It's reportedly been scrapped because Sinead O'Connor recently pulled out
due to "unforeseen family commitments", leaving very little time to find a
suitable replacement. Although it was recently mooted that Grace Jones would
be taking her place.

Tennant has commented: "We have made this decision with the greatest of
reluctance but it seems impossible to proceed without a complete line up of
artists. We look forward to coming to America next year."

Really! They are not fair to say it this way.
Yes Sinéad was the main thing, but this is a rude way to put the blame on
her.

You know, I am kind of surprised that so many people wanted to go see
Sinéad. I mean, even if F&C did well, she is still not super popular, and
people around me still don't listen to her this much. I guess I am never
prepared to see how much Sinéad is still known (it is cool, but I also
wouldn't want to get to a NC2U-like period cause I like knowing stuff that
not everybody know - Everytime I sing Sinead with my guitar and my friends
in a party or anywhere, there is always people going like '' What is that''?
even with songs like Troy or The last day of our Acquaintance.)
And I like it like that. (Man am I egocentric on that one...)

Yeah, it was really surprising to see that Sinéad was much more popular on
the Wotapalava board than the supposed leading act PSB. Which means to me
that it was a wrong decision to link Sinéad with PSB/Marc Almond for a tour
in the first place. She is an artist who is capable of touring the States on
her own, and that would probably sell more tix than the Wotapalava thing.

Still can't understand why she can't be bothered to play, say, 5 dates in US
and 5 dates in Europe...

And then there's the new record deal thing -- who d'you think will sign her
this time? I bet my chances on Island Records.

Hello,
I agree they really put all the blame on Sinead, that's not fair.they
probably saw all the tickets returned and had second thoughts.yes, they
could have been more diplomatic about it and should certainly should
shoulder most of the blame as they seem to want to point fingers....

Really! They are not fair to say it this way.

Geez, they're blaming Sinead?! I didn't know she was the main attraction.

Hi,

I love the song "Release" from the Afro Celt Sound System's second album. I
have just read the lyrics, which I couldn't understand very well before, and
I'm puzzled. Does anybody know what Sinéad is talking about? Is she talking
about being dead or what?

The first interpretation that came to my mind was the ghost of a just-dead
person telling his/her relatives not to grieve. But I'd like to know what
other think, becuase I know my reading is very biased.

The lyrics are at:

i have the song on my computer. you can find it - and any other sineadsong ever sung :) - on www.audiogalaxy.com
there you have to download a thing called satelite and it works just like napster, except that you never have problems with offline users and can request any song anytime.

luv, maaike

What the hell has to do the fact that Sinéad once showed disrespect to the
Catholic church with the fact that she shows disrespect to prejudges now.
Journalists in general and this one in particular are a bunch of
sensationalist vampires. They don't want to give news, they want to provoke
cheap feelings. They don't judge Sinéad actions now, but her image. They
might as well have said "However O'Connor, who came out first as a lesbian
and then as bisexual (?) not long ago, says the Irish are simply hypocrites.
Even if Sinéad may be wrong and the human rights issue is crucial, what has
her ill-informed opinion to do with the Pope-ripping story?

I am very, very sad.

On the other hand, I can't understand why a Catholic country would want to
be in a friendly relationship with a Comunist country that has prosecuted
several religions and defends actively all known methods of birth control,
_especially_ abortion, up to the last month of pregnancy.

Blind Dancer.

She actually wrote the lyrics for an ACSS member who passed away some time
before the album came out. They were playing the music to Sinéad and
suddenly she came up with the lyrics and the band members were quite amazed.
Being a psychic obviously helps, as it did in the case of Davy Spillane's
Dreaming Of The Bones!

It is actually a wonderful programme -- so much better than the poor old
Napster, which is currently shut down, I hear. I downloaded the satelite
thingy a few days ago following my gf's advice and since then I have
downloaded loads of songs. It is also very fast.

You'll find them for sale on eBay most of the time. However, I have only
seen Year of the Horse offered in the European PAL format. I've been looking
for an American (NTSC) format version actively for 2 years, and I haven't
even found verification that it was issued in America on video (it was on
laser disk).

"I don't discriminate," he asserts. Indeed, Wyclef has lately had his
production finger in a number of celebrity pies: "I just produced a track
with Sinead O'Connor called 'When You Wrap Your Arms Around Me', which, in
terms of sound and production, deviates little from what I did with
Whitney's 'My Love Is Your Love' or Mary J Blige on '911', one of the
singles from my own album."

So what is Wyclef after when he's producing a track? "The essence of the
song; the voice; the soul," he explains. "You have to allow the personality
of the singer and the instrument to come out in the record. No aural
exciters. No effects. Just the raw passion of the voice. You know what I'm
saying? Listen to Marley and you hear the ultimate personality on wax. That
is the yardstick for all us producers. And whoever says that this is losing
the essence of hip hop is talking outta the other side of their neck. And
they gonna have to stand up to Clef!"

I don't think that it's unfair that they "put the blame" on Sinead -
they just mentioned they couldn't find someone to replace with the time
they had. I mean, to be fair, she did leave it until the last minute to
decline and that probably really threw the organisers for a loop-hole.
Up until that point, tickets were probably really selling well, and
having to find a replacement that would still generate good ticket
selling was difficult at the last minute.

I'm wondering if another reason why Sinead isn't touring is because she
is not currently with a record company - and hence, where would she get
the funding to tour? I don't know how these things work at all, but I
had the impression that things like touring were supported by the record
company until revenues came in.

Also, it might not be a coincidence that she got engaged very recently
around the time of the announcement of her not playing in W. maybe that
was the family issue?

Hi susy and JITR,

Hmmm....yes perhaps they can blame Sinead partially, though I really don't
think it would of been hard to find a replacement even on short notice, I
mean I would have done it lol...maybe they meant "find someone who could
pull in as many people to the show as Sinead"....

Not that I am against her marriage by any means...but I've been wondering
if the announcement of her engagement is 100% true. It is most likely
true since it was released by the AP (if I recall correctly). I'd just
like to hear it from Sinead herself (or from Sinead's "people"). I
suppose since I've only heard the news from the side of her husband to
be, I'm curious to hear Sinead's official statement. If there is one and
I missed it, please let me know where it is.

Cheers,
Michael

just got the Aug 2001 issue of Jane and Sinead shares the cover with 5 other
celbs. the article is about famous people taking pictures of other famous
people
there is a full page full color shot of Sinead taken by Bryan Adams, here is
what is printed inside.
Q-"Was shooting Sinead O'Conner your only experience photographing a naked
priest?"
A-(Bryan Adams)"Thats a personal question, but since you asked- yes it is the
only time. Sinead had been asked what here definition of beauty was and she
responded with 'my arse.' I didn't get that photo. I should have asked."

the picture is very lovely

"The original line-up for the largest openly gay touring festival was to
include Pet Shop Boys, Sinead O’Connor, Soft Cell, The Magnetic Fields and
Rufus Wainwright, as well as DJs Junior Vasquez and Danny Tenaglia. However,
the last minute withdrawal of Sinead O’Connor and the difficulty of finding
a suitable replacement with such short notice have led the producers to
believe that it would be unwise to proceed with the tour this summer."

Hey all!
I have been unsubscribing the list for a while as I change my residences
from time to time. I am going to
live in Italy for 2 months now.
I just wanted to say "hi" as I know some very nice Sineadians here and I
would like to know how you all
are my dears. Sounds not much but means a lot to me :-)
Love and Light

What's the latest on our gal?

Here's something I hope you'll like?

Fantasies for you and me...
Fantasies to set us free...
Let the whole world have it's fantasies...
We all know what it will truly be...
We know it will truly set us free...

Thanks,

Jeffery

It's been so quiet in here?...

I wrote this one for, "Busta Rhymes?..."

Why should I keep them, where you can see?...
I'll let you see, what will it be then?...
Look it's a Smith and Wesson.
Three fifty seven magnum...
Hallow points and mercury?...
Sealed with some hot wax and...
So truly give it up?...
Do not be so corrupt.
I know you don't want to see it come out your back end?...
The end...

LOL, thanks,

Has anybody got the latest?

Here's one I dedicate to, "Jewel," J.R.B. who I love, and to you young =
lovers out there...

Your love so divine, like grapes on the vine, in the bright sunshine...
As the grapes do age, our true love will rage...
Like a warm burning fire, of true loving desire...
A special pleasant time, with a sweet lovely wine...
I shall truly say, in a loving way...
I do love your beautiful ways, all these truly wonderful days...
I shall truly say, in a loving way...
Ever since that wonderful, ever so beautiful, spring day, of May...

Thank you,

Jeffery

HEADLINE: Stars in harmony for Aids concert

BYLINE: Simon de Bruxelles

BODY:

Robbie Williams, Charlotte Church, the Bee Gees and
Atomic Kitten are to perform songs from musicals at a
charity pop concert to raise money for Aids projects,
it was announced yesterday.

The event, at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium on October
20. is being billed as "Live Aid 2", 17 years after
Bob Geldof's Wembley concert raised millions for
starving African communities. Behind the event is
Midge Ure, the former Ultravox singer, who helped to
organise the original Live Aid.

He said yesterday: "The thoughts, compassion and
messages this concert will send out are similar to
Live Aid. But we will be bringing contemporary and
classical artists together backed by orchestras,
dancers and gospel choirs. It has the potential to
make a hell of a lot of money to help Aids projects.
It will be a cast of thousands and some of the
collaborations will never happen again."

The concert will be broadcast live on Radio 2 with
highlights later on BBC1. The stadium will have a
capacity of 60,000 for the show, one of the biggest
music events for several years. Artists including
Sinead O'Connor and the tenor Russell Watson have been
confirmed, with more to be announced soon.

All proceeds from the show will go to the Red Hot
Organisation, which raises and distributes funds for
community-based Aids prevention and education work.
The actress Jean Simmons, the charity's patron, said:
"Events like this are vitally important and need to be
supported by all."

I'm so annoyed. I visit PlanetOut almost everyday, and a few days they
started featuring a message board with a headline that blasts Sinead. She
was labeled a "lesbian du jour" and blasted for dropping out of the
Wotapolova tour. She is being attacked from everything, from dropping out
of the tour to her recent engagement. >( They're saying the tour was
canceled because Sinead dropped out, which I guess is the truth? I thought
Sinead said she never agreed to perform as many dates as they wanted? What's
the truth?

Hi Julja + everybody who might be interested in this. That's what I found on
the Cranberries website:

"We can confirm official release dates for the new album "Wake Up And Smell
The Coffee". Initially the album will be released in Japan on October 9th.
International release will be on the 16th of October, and finally North
American release on the 23rd of October 2001."

*****

By the way our local radio station plays "No man's woman" almost every day.
It's funny - the song never was such a big hit, but now - finally - a year
later, they play it here so often. It's just so nice to hear Sinéad on the
radio while working, even though it's always the same song ;-).

Take care everybody and lot's of love!

Silke

What's the latest?...

Here's one for the dream I thought I had...

I wake up at sunrise, and I realize...
I must say good bye, with a sigh...
I do cry, with a reason why...

Good bye, Jewel...

Sorry gang, she's the one that got away...

Have a good mornin'?...

Thanks,

Jeffery

Now and again, I can not pretend...
There is no end, to my friend...
With a sigh, I will not say good bye...
I may cry, and wonder why...

Jewel, if you are out there, watching, please come?

Again my friend's forgive me, it hurts...

Hey Sinead, lets knock Bad Busta Rhymes , "DEAD!..."

Remember, hallow points with mercury, sealed with wax... You better get =
your, "Shi' Lil" out, with some pretty poison?...

Why should I keep them, where you can see?...
I'll let you see, what will it be then?...
A Smith and Wesson...
With a long hot ten...
Three fifty seven magnum...
Hallow points with mercury...
Sealed with wax, and...
So give it up...
Don't be corrupt...
I know you don't want to see it come out your back end...
The end...
Shhhh, don't let me say it again.

Jewel, I love you?

Thanks gang,

Jeffery

What's up?...

The Moon...

The Moon...
The mother of our nature...
The high enlightening, mother of our nature...
I cry out for you, 'cause once for me, you were blue...
'Cause of the silver anniversary, of my beloveds passing...
I know my wound, will be healed, by the new moon...
Do come soon, my new moon...
Soon my new moon...

The Moon...

Please, forgive me, but, 12:00 AM PST, July 16, 2001. I may need to =
tell you a story, about a Princess, who teased a Knight. Foolishly fell =
in love with her self, and left him to wonder in the night.

I'm sorry gang, but, it hurts.

Once upon a time...

A lonely knight, wondered through the night, riding for the right...
He sought his crown, and white silk gown...
His black helmet, struck fear...
You could only hear, what he did threat...
Beware it is clear, I do not mean fear, he would say...
In the night, he rode for the right...
In the day, he looked for the light...
The one who would shine bright, to his true loving delight...
I offer love, like a song from a dove...
One night weary, he lied down, on the cold wet ground...
He slept, dreaming of his crown, and silken white gown...
As he slept, he saw an angel of light...
To the Knight's delight, the angel spoke of his right...
The angel spoke, and said, with a dread...
Fear is what guides you, do not be blue, there is glory for you...
The Knight feared not, of what the angel said...
I don't care, when or if I wind up dead...
He slept through the night, thinking of the right...

Thanks,

Jeffery

I think Jeffrey's posts are an abuse of this mailing

implore him to find another outlet for his writing.

hi guys,
i was wondering what has happened to this list. i`ve been
here for four years and it`s never been that way. there were
times we posted about 60 mails a day. i miss those times,
you know. what`s going on? are we all disappointed or what?
maybe everyone moved to some other list i don`t know about?

Hello Jumpers,
I'm still here. Of course I'm disappointed but I still love Sinead very very
much. I am quieter than usual probably because I am busy preparing to see
some of my other favorite artists live and in person. ;) Plus, I think a lot
of people are out enjoying the weather.

It's funny how so many artists were heavily influenced by Sinead and some do
admit it, but the others think they can get away with it. However, even
though Sinead has been heavy influenced by rasta man Bob Marley, you can
actually hear the influence Sinead has had of him, especially the wailing
and on the guitar, the both have fimiliar patterns. A duet of Bob and Sinead
would've been the greatest collaboration ever. but of course you probably
had already spoken about this before.

Does anyone know when and where the acoustic version of "I Am Enough For
Myself" was recorded? I mean the one where Sinéad sings "I an dynamite" in
the end.
