Hello Jitr,

I was thinking about the NMW video, just now, and well, I would have liked
to seen the video for No Man's Woman start a bit differently. I think I
would have loved it if this video were a continuation of sorts of the
video for This Is To Mother You, where she's all cuddling and kissing in
bed with Kris Kristofferson.

Let me explain. The video should have started out exactly where the
cuddling two left off, i.e. snuggling together in bed. The camera would
then focus on Kristofersons lips, such that we could see he is saying
something to Sinead. The camera would then focus on Sinead's very sudden
and very intense facial reaction. The camera would then focus on Sinead's
fist winding up, and then switch back to Kristofferson receiving said
fist, quite dramatically, square in the nose.

Sinead would then rip off her blankets, jump out of bed, throw her wig at
Kristofferson, look at the camera, and start singing, "I don't want to be
No Man's Woman!" And then she could storm off and continue with the
remainder of the video as is.

Just Kidding. Hehe.

Would be fun though,

Still operating on minimal/inimical levels of sleep,

Bilal :)

because it's Sinead. Thanks Ken for the concert info. I'm sure this'll be
a great event. Thanks.

No I changed my mind. I won't watch those stupid shows. The internet
concert is enough for me, and I wouldn't want to support these low lifes and
force people like Sinead to have to do business with them to support
themselves and promote their art as a popular artists. They can go jump off
a mountain. I don't need em.

Wow, what great promotion for Sinead. She'll knock 'em dead with this album.
Ken, you simply must go to this concert! Perhaps tickets can be had through
an agency?

Regarding Atlantic's Sinead website, I'm a bit concerned about them linking
to the JITR Members page: this page reveals some personal information about
many of us, and some people have even listed their phone numbers. I'm
thinking it would be better if they would link to JITR sign-up information...
any opinions, people?

Hi all,

I just went to the page and voted for NMW, and saw it has allready 113
votes!! I
think this is going to work... though the 1st song has now 227 votes, so
it's going to be a little harder than we thought.
BTW I really liked to see the name of Sinéad right above Madonna's American
Pie; nothing against her, but it felt good.
Go and VOTE!!

Gabi.

>From Rolling Stone--they give it 3.5 stars. Also on Atlantic Records

"I know that I have done many things/To give you reason not to listen to
me," sings Sinead O'Connor in "The Lamb's Book of Life," one of several new
songs that ask forgiveness from her lovers, father and fans. Repentant and
yet still gloriously provocative, Faith and Courage speaks with the
jaw-clenched directness for which O'Connor is both famous and infamous. What
it does most convincingly is give listeners reason to once again embrace the
Irish firebrand.
It's designed like a mainstream R&B blockbuster, the kind that has a
different producer-songwriter-player for nearly every track. Unexpected
pairings draw out opposite aspects of the singer's complex musical
personality. The result is an album of approachable pop that's both defiant
and diverse and that flaunts rock's swagger, electronica's experimentalism,
folk's introspection and hip-hop's social critique. O'Connor doesn't abandon
the national identity she quietly asserted on her previous two releases;
Faith and Courage layers playful Irish folk whistles and O'Connor's peerless
cry into contemporary street sonics while navigating between inner
spirituality and the conflicted outside world. The two domains meet on the
show-stopping, string-laden anthem "No Man's Woman," where she declares she
won't concede to male domination because she's already in love -- with a
"spirit." Sounds hokey on paper, but because O'Connor -- the original Alanis
-- rocks so hard, the sentiment is nothing short of spine-tingling.
Another compact doozy, "Daddy I'm Fine," flips from looping reggae to
double-time punk thrash while neatly encapsulating the singer's
transformation from frustrated Dublin girl to world-class, ass-kickin' mom.
Even serene ballads like "Emma's Song" suggest tension, ambivalence,
mystery. It's a tribute to O'Connor's guiding presence that dub-funk masters
Adrian Sherwood and Skip McDonald, Eurythmics' Dave Stewart, ex-Ednaswap
rockers Scott Cutler and Anne Preven, Fugee Wyclef Jean, ex-Public Image
Ltd. bassist Jah Wobble, Destiny's Child producer Kevin "She'kspere" Briggs
and ambient guru Brian Eno can all contribute without overpowering the
album's star. With its dauntless style juxtapositions and the singer's
strongest songs in a decade, Faith and Courage restores this wayward soul to
major rock-goddess status even as she strips down to her human essence. This
is the Sin'ad album you've been wanting for years. (RS 843)

hip-hop's social critique. O'Connor doesn't abandon the national identity she quietly asserted on her previous two releases; Faith
and Courage layers playful Irish folk whistles and O'Connor's peerless cry into contemporary street sonics while navigating between
inner spirituality and the conflicted outside world. The two domains meet on the show-stopping, string-laden anthem "No Man's
Woman," where she declares she won't concede to male domination because she's already in love with a "spirit." Sounds hokey on
paper, but because O'Connor-the original Alanis-rocks so hard, the sentiment is nothing short of spine-tingling.
Another compact doozy, "Daddy I'm Fine," flips from looping reggae to double-time punk thrash while neatly encapsulating the
singer's transformation from frustrated Dublin girl to world-class, ass kickin' mom. Even serene ballads like "Emma's Song" suggest
tension, ambivalence, mystery. It's a tribute to O'Connor's guiding presence that dub-funk masters Adrian Sherwood and Skip
McDonald, Eurythmics' Dave Stewart, ex-Ednaswap rockers Scott Cutler and anne Preven, Fugee Wyclef Jean, ex-Public Image Ltd.
bassist Jah Wobble, Destiny's Child producer Devin "She'k-spere" Briggs and ambient guru Brian Eno can all contribute without
overpowering the album's star. With its dauntless style juxtapositions and the singer's strongest songs in a decade, Faith and
Courage restores this wayward soul to major rock-goddess status even as she strips down to her human essance. This is the Sinéad
album you've been waiting for years.

What a magnificent review from Rolling Stone! I knew it would floor the
critics. This IS the Sinead album you've been wanting for years.

The review was great. However, they only gave it 3 1/2 stars. They gave
Universal Mother 4 stars, IDNWWIHG and So Far.. 4 1/2 stars. I don't understand.

I wondered about that, too. if that wasn't a four star review I don't know
what IS. It doesn't matter. people who read the review are going to be
impressed in a big way and enticed to buy the record. BTW, I thought Rolling
Stone gave Universal Mother only three stars, saying that it "wobbled
between being an awful record and a remarkable one..." I frankly don't know
how they could have given So Far a 41/2 rating. It was a rehash compilation,
save for the rarities like Heroine, Empire, Thief of Your Heart, etc. In my
opinion, Ensign should have made the entire album a double-disc collection
of Sinead rarities. It would have been a massive hit.

Hello Ken and All Jumpers,
Thank you very much for the tape of "Butcher Boy," I hope to see it as
soon as
I can! I really can't wait to see Sinead in concert whenever that may be!
So long for

Hey Jumpers,

As you maybe aware, Sinead will be doing a concert in Boston on Saturday!
In Boston, this concert is a big deal!! The radio station that is running
will be having a lot of online activities on the day of the concert. On
their website, they have finally added Sinead to the list of performers,
also they will be broadcasting from the concert with performances,
interviews, behind the scenes photos and on line chats. Go to this web
address for more info:
http://www.amfmi.com/kissconcert/artists/oconnor/index.html

I am also very impressed because they link with Mars-L and Roman's website
which is really cool! They say the info was provided by Atlantic so they
are really pushing Mars-L and Roman's site as a major part of Sinead.

If you are interested, check it out! It should be really great. I am still
trying to find tickets as they are very hard to get! It has been sold out
since January!

All the Best,

Ken

I think the star rating in RS is an average rating from all (or a certain
number of) the reviewers at the magazine. So even though the person writing
the review may be very positive (such as in the case of F&C) the actual star
rating represents the collective opinion of more than one reviewer there.
I'm not 100% sure of this (I remember reading about the process back in 98
when they gave Madonna's Ray of Light 4 stars but the reviewer pretty much
proceded to trashing the album) - so can anybody confirm this?

Hey Jake and Jumpers,

With all due respect, I find these shows that Sinead will be on terrible.
Just like people think Howard is terrible, I think The View and Rosie
O'Donnell are terrible! Especially Rosie! I will watch them but I am going
to have all the junk edited out before I watch them by my brother. He will
reduce them to just the footage that contains Sinead and then I will watch!

The only one I don't have an issue with is David Letterman! He at least has
a sense of humor and always treat our lady fair!

It's just opinion and I still do realize that Sinead will get exposure,
which is good BUT come on, The Early Show!! About 4 people watch that show!

All the Best,

Ken

Sinead appeared for a short live interview today on Canada's MuchMusic (she
was in Toronto). Of course I missed it, but my friend taped it for me, so
I'll hopefully get to see it soon.

PS - I just listened to 'Hold Back the Night' and I'm in a state of shock.
I haven't been this moved by a song since I heard Sinead's version of
"Silent Night". I have chills.

Just a thought about the cover of Faith & Courage. I love it. I really love
it. The face tilted down and 3 flames is perfect--perhaps the only album
cover since TLATC that I've really loved. I also love the colors.
However.... I think it would have been more striking if the artist had used
a photograph of Sinead's face and then drawn the flames and everything else
around that. Why? Because nothing looks better than Sinead's own face. I
can't imagine a drawing of her ever looking quite as good as her actual
face. And the album cover doesn't... but it definitely comes close! Also, I
really like mixed media.

Ben

Hi, Jess!
I'm referring to the Atlantic site where they provide a link to "additional
fan sites" via UBL, which has links to Mars-L & Roman's site, and Forever
Child's, and Bilal's, and several others. They describe the JITR Members'
Page as having "personal information" about JITR members... eeeek! Well,
maybe we'll gain interesting pen-pals this way...

I think everyone, who has put his/her info on this
page should had been known that anyone can get there.
I think someone who wants to change what is written
there about his/her self should send to the page owner
new info.

Hey there,

We can never be 100% sure, but I think it couldn't make more sense that
Nestamama is none other than Sinéad!

The first time I got the message, it made me smile and LOVE it, and after
reading Fruitdog's msg, I read it again and WOW!

"It's imortant that these songs be heard" seems like a very Sinéadesque
expression to me!!

Hi All,
Tonight, that's Fri the 2nd of June, the NMW video will be played on Rage
sometime between 12:10 am and 1:00 am. Rage is on The ABC (Australian
Broadcating Corporation) for those not in this part of the world.
I think it's the first time it's been played on Rage and possibly the first
screening on Australian TV.
Thanx
Greg.

Well, Sinead's reached # 18 on CD93's Top 24 rotation hits list--her best
showing yet. I'm going to try and up the ante by requesting the song
throughout the day. If anyone has a spare minute and wants to help...please
feel quite free....as they say.

1-800-930-CD93

request@cd93.com

Again, Sinead's stellar review in Rolling Stone is such a triumph. Words
like "spine-tingling," "glorious," "dauntless," "rock-goddess," "strongest
songs in a decade," "provocative," etc....well, we are really in for it,
especially those who have not heard the album yet.

I think that was her as well. Very exciting. Anyway, here is a bit:

HEADLINE: SINEAD IS SOUL SURVIVOR O'CONNOR BELIEVES IN FAITH, COURAGE

BYLINE: KIERAN GRANT, TORONTO SUN

BODY:

Sinead O'Connor likely will never run out of things to say, but there
are two words that she holds particularly dear.

Faith and courage.

They provide a theme for, and name of, her fifth album, Faith And Courage.

"It was the sound of the whole record that made me call it that," O'Connor,
a tiny woman with a strong presence, said yesterday while in town to discuss
the new
disc that comes out June 13.

The Irish singer, who turns 34 this year, rose to fame on the strength
of her massive 1990 hit Nothing Compares 2U. Then, through the fuss and
furor that
surrounded her fall from public grace in the early '90s, and her creative
and spiritual re-emergence as not only a singer but a controversial cleric,
her faith and
courage were shaken, called into question, and ultimately reaffirmed.

Faith And Courage marks the Irish singer's first album since 1994's Universal
Mother, and such spiritual concerns clearly reflect the recent developments
in her life.

OPEN AND POSITIVE

O'Connor kept a relatively low profile following her infamous 1992 SNL
appearance in which, in an ill-advised protest against child abuse, she
tore up a picture of
the Pope. Much acrimony and a personal breakdown followed.

Controversy was stirred up again two years ago when she became an ordained
priest in the Latin Tridentine Church, a Catholic offshoot led by "renegade"
Bishop
Michael Cox.

Though she covered up her heavy gold crucifix for a Sun photographer
yesterday, she was unflinchingly open and positive about the religious
outlook that runs
through her album.

She also is prepared for misunderstandings. Her jaunty lead single, No
Man's Woman, has already ruffled a few feathers for its supposedly male-bashing
sentiments.

"The song just talks about wanting to have a relationship with the spirit
of man, rather than necessarily being a girlfriend or a wife," she said.
"The album is like that,
insofar as it tricks you in with a few poppy ideas at first, but then
it takes you on a trip that does something for your belly, rather than
your brain, hopefully."

The album is infused heavily with reggae and touches of Celtic and Gospel
tradition, and boasts a disparate range of collaborators -- including producers
Dave
Stewart and Adrian Sherwood, Wyclef Jean and Brian Eno, just to name
a few.

"It's a soul record, not in a technical sense but in an emotional one,"
O'Connor said. "To a certain extent, I really feel that one's subconscious,
or soul, is the thing
that's doing the work in music.

"I understand that the soul has something to tell me. I think that's
what all artistic work is -- a person's soul trying to communicate with
them. So I don't ever worry,
because I have faith in my soul, and courage because of my faith, if
you like."

That courage is reflected in O'Connor's religious beliefs.

'GETTING SIDES TO HOLD HANDS'

"Human beings unfortunately have been trained to see things in terms
of negativity," she said. "There are great things about organized religion,
and great things about
(questioning it). It's a matter of getting the sides to hold hands, and
I think that will happen. Instead of destruction of the church, it'll be
cleaned out and open its mind
to things like homosexuality. People like me can help the Church do that."

O'Connor plans to play select dates in support of Faith And Courage,
but her devotion to son Jake, 13, and daughter Roisin, 4, means she won't
tour. "Everyone, I
imagine, has on their death bed one thing they hope they got right,"
she said. "I'll hope I was a good enough mother. I put that before anything
else."

Well it`s true it might have been Her!!!

But what about someaone under SineadCon@...(I don`t remember)? He/She knew the lirics to NMW before we all know that this song exist. And remember the second mail He/She wrote? "This album is absolutely incredible". This is what Sinead said in the interview a few days later I think. I THINK, cause sometimes memory fails...
What I want to say, is that I thought it might`ve been Sinead herself...:)))

Silly...

BUT STILL nestamama IS GREAT!!!

Hey Lita - what a great idea!

I had two fish which I called Roisin and Jake - Jake died a few months ago
but Roisin is still alive and doing great! ;-)

Enjoy Ireland!!

I don't believe anyone said that "all americans" watched those shows, just
that the americans who watched those shows were "real"--perhaps "unaffected"

Don't get angry,
This is the last e-mail about voting in Polish radio.

We have only 6 hours left for voting.

So if you could please VOTE:

hello there

There was a clip of NMW video on Jo Whiley's show on Channel 4 this week
followed by a brief discussion with her guests, including Moby and the woman
from Aqua (sorry I don't know her name - I'm not exactly a huge fan).
Unfortunately I missed it so I don't know what was said but the good news it
that it's repeated Monday 5 June 00.25.

Looking forward to June 13th........

You didn't miss much. Only showed a brief clip of the video followed by a
brief discussion which centred around how magnificant Lion & the Cobra and
Nothing Compares... were but how everything since then has been pretty
unexciting (their words). The Aqua girl knew very little about Sinead and
Armand Van Halden didn't know who she was. I was very disappointed with
Moby who I had expected would have a decent knowledge of her given Sinead
collaborations with dance music but he knew very little about her
'post-Nothing Compares' and couldn't understand why there was a Rasta theme
in the video. Greatly disappointed with the discussion but hey who cares.

Only a few weeks to go .......

Mark

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to tell you that I have No Man's Woman
(video) on tape! Everyone was telling me they had
seen it.....and it was pissing me off because I hadn't
seen it. I was just watching much music (rapid fax)
and I caught a brief interview and then they played
it! I STAYED UP ALL NIGHT to see if anyone would play
it....It's 12 noon now....

The lengths I will go to to get her videos

Lion

=====
God commanded his angels concerning you
To protect you in all your ways
They will carry you up in their arms
To keep your foot from striking a stone
You will tread upon the lion and the cobra
You will trample the great lion and serpent

Hi, kid!
I still have not seen this video. I love the album cover art, and the song,
of course! I would like for Sinead to have a smash hit with this, and make a
pile of money, and then be able to make more music and spread more important
messages.
Love, and hugs to you!

Can't wait to hear the album!!!! Unfortunatelly, I'll probably have to
wait about 2 weeks more than you over there since here in Brazil the
releases tend to come with a little gap, I suppose...

I already foresee that I will love this album... still haven't heard
anything of it but I bet I'll see myself in some bits!!! If everything
is not good (what I know is not true) at least we'll have for sure the
blessed voice of an angel singing... that's what Sinéad sounds like to
me: a voice from heaven. I guess the angels up in heaven sing like that!

Kiss 108 has an email address to which you can send
questions/comments of your favorite artists. I sent a
question, but I think everyone should. It would be
great if she arrived and they had a hundred questions
for her from fans. It might make her feel
appreciated. It would be awful if Christina
Alagagaugea had thousands of questions and Sinead had
none. Anyway, the address is chat@kiss108.com

Ok,

So I would like to know abuout the No Mans Woman Single B side "This is a
rebel song." It was previously released by her but the lyrics were changed
from "English man" to "Irish Man." Not only that but the music has been
completely revamped. I personally like this version better. I would
appreciate some clarification on the matter from sinead.

Thanks,
>From a Loving Fan,

Hi there,

I checked my archive to see Rolling Stone's rating for Universal Mother, and
it is 3 1/2 starts just like Faith and Courage - which converts to something
between 'Good' and 'Excellent'.

The long-awaited postmodern.com server upgrade will occur sometime
on Sunday, 4 June. I'm moving things from an old P133 server running
BSDI to a reasonably new box running Linux. Things should be completed
by late Sunday, and I don't anticipate an interruption to mailing list
service (since the old server will be running until the switchover)
but it's possible, so don't fret. List archives may take a day or
two to be fully configured and accessible as well.

If you are planning a "magnum opus" type post to the list, you might
want to wait until after the weekend; similarly if you are planning to
rely on any of the Web services hosted here.

If the swap cannot be done tomorrow I'll leave the old server running
and try again the following weekend.

Thank you, Deniz! That was a great treat!

BTW/ Sinead's NMW has risen from #21 six places to #15(with a bullet!) in
the Industry National Adult/Alternative Airplay Charts in the USA. This is
easily the most airplay Sinead has received since NC2U. It will be
interesting to see how far the song can make an impact, given that it is
still relatively new.

custom cd full of Sinéad songs (????????) Please let
me know...because I am dying to get Damn Your Eyes on

Lion

=====
God commanded his angels concerning you
To protect you in all your ways
They will carry you up in their arms
To keep your foot from striking a stone

You will trample the great lion and serpent

Can anyone think of any officially released a capella Sinead songs besides
these?:

I am stretched on your grave - live (from The Value of Ignorance)
I do not want what I haven't got
irish ways and irish laws
scarlet ribbons - live
war - live (from the Bob Marley concert video)
danny boy "the derry air" - live (from the Late Late Show video)
in this heart
tiny grief song
her mantle so green

It's too bad Donald-O never made it onto a single.

Here's the only mention of Sinead from the Boston Herald review of the
Kiss108 concert:

Third Eye Blind scored points late in a hit and miss set by inviting
Sinead O'Connor onstage to sing her hit "Emperor's New Clothes."

Thank you JITR,

I said I wont wirte about it anymore, but I do.
I had got few e-mails with support, so I'll keep the
topic.
It is about this Polish chat.

We didn't make her #1 but what happened I find a
succces anyway. NMW had the BIGEST NUMBER OF VOTES
among songs which were FIRST TIME IN THE CHAT. Having
only 32nd position it was great anyway. DJ, who is
among the most inffluential ones in Poland said that
this song would have influented the chat in the very
near future...

Voting for this week started Friday afternoon and at
the moment NMW is #15 !!!!!!!!!!

If anyone wolud like to try our game again then please
