Hey Holli, (sorry to use the list for this, have misplaced Holli's address)

London was swamped with X-mas shoppers, and record store stocks
were truly disappointing. Consequently, no Sinead Lohan to be found.
However, Amazon.com.uk lists it for something like 13 pounds (with
shipping that would be about $24 but I think they deduct VAT-17% of the
cost).

Sorry again,

Jay

hi jitr,

various sinead (press) sightings:

1. in entertainment weekly (best of 1999) issue,
there's a tiny pic of sinead in her priestly garb (the
all-white, bridal-look one), followed by the following
text:

<April 22 WHEN IN ROME... Leaving her
Pope-photo-ripping days behind, Sinead O'Connor is
ordained as the first woman priest in the Latin
Tridentine Church, a Roman Catholic splinter group.
Making an act of contrition as a new member of the
clergy, she tells the press she's sorry for her
desecrationist (at least on SNL) past.>

2. in Q feb issue (with travis on cover):

pg. 23: a one-page write-up on shane mcgowan drug bust
last month, and the motivations behind sinead calling
the cops. (plus a pic of sinead in priestly garb
singing.) interesting.

pg. 32/33: a two-page spread look-back on 1999, where
sinead's controversial behaviour at the linda mc
tribute gig is mentioned. (plus a pic of sinead
singing with desiree and chrissie hynde.)

pg. 95: a review of a virgin compilation called _the
best lovesongs... ever!_ the tracklisting includes
"the odd wild card", ie sinead o'connor's 'nothing
compares 2 u'.

also before i forget, esquire (US) year-end issue (the
dubious achievements cover story), they printed
sinead's cheeky comment abt the bill clinton
impeachment -- abt whether she can eat him....

kai chai.

hi,

there's a contest going on at

http://asia.eonline.com/Fansites/index.phtml

all you have to do is submit as many fansites as
you can. and you may win some cool stuffs. i've
submitted some sites dedicated to sinead.

why not do the same? there's also a poll on who
has the most number of fansites.

Hello,

Today the live-only tracks (concert and tv) together with the vinyl tracks
are added to the server, in total there are 264 tracks at the moment. At the
moment in just 2/3 directories but I'm thinking about a way to order them a
little easier.
Infact they are already easy to find, they're on alphabetical order when
it's a Sinead solo song, and when she sings it with others it's ordered on
the name of the (main) other artist.
I will change that and create better MP3-tags (to include info to the
MP3-files about artist(s), year of release, album title etc etc..)
The songs I added today are in a seperate directory, so the people who
already visited, for the next day it will be easy to locate the new ones.
After tomorrow it will change.

Also extra added are 2 DJ-remixes;
- Nothing Compares 2 U (a terrible mix)
- I Want Your Hands On Me (a "razormaid" remix, which is GREAT!!!)

Just about 6 tracks are missing to get it as complete as the discography
goes;
- World where you live (live with Neil Finn)
- The Hand that rocks the cradle (live)
- Sweet Violets (live)
- The Megalab song (forgot the title)
- The Slyfi song (forgot the title)
- Get Up, Stand Up (Chili live with choir)

Those will be added later on.

CONCERNING DOWNLOADING; LEGALLY YOU'RE ONLY ALLOWED TO DOWNLOAD THOSE SONGS
YOU ALREADY OWN LEGALLY ON CD/VINYL/TAPE !!!

Concerning the quality; I am 200% sure the quality is perfect of the MP3's
(128bits/44.1Hrz/stereo), because I created them myself, ALL of them.
Someone else handed me digital recordings of the vinyl and live-songs, and
those are also the best available. (live can be shitty sometimes but that's
the best available recording I had, if you have a better MP3 one just let me
know !)

If you don't have a password/username just mail me. You just need
InternetExplorer/Netscape to enter the songs, though with a FTP-client it's
more comfortable and probably faster. Personally I prefer the FTPvoyager
client.
But be know that the files although it's MP3 are still several MB's (about
1MB per minute music, they're all encoded in 128bits/44.1Hrz/Stereo) Also be
known that the server goes offline sometimes.

Gr. Mars-L

Hello,

Thanx to Luther there's a new song addition to the discography.

Song; "The lady is a tramp"
All that's available of that song is just a sample of 39 seconds and
probably of the same sessions as the Am I Not Your Girl? album of which we
also have another sample "You'd be surprised".

personally I've never heard this song.....

And when I did some researched I had to laugh;
I think I know why the song in the end didn't get released; It's a cover of
a Frank Sinatra song, yep the man that wanted to kick her ass if she would
have been a man because of her contrroverciality. When I'm right he indeed
made that remark around the Am I Not Your Girl period, so she maybe didn't
wanna release it in the end because of that ???

It's on the server now !

Has anyone seen the Talented Mr. Ripley yet? I finally saw it, and I
thought it was great! Everyone that had seen it before me hated it, so I
was a bit skeptical, but I ended up really liking it. I didn't think
SInead's would be the very first song! What did you guys think?

Damnit! Sinead's song was the first! I must have been a few minutes late
to see it. I saw it a few days after it was released. Damn, I missed the
song! What a farthead I am! I thought the movie was all right. I guess I
had super high expectations from the director of The English Patient and I
was disappointed that I missed Sinead's song. Poop. But it was a good
movie. I thought the first third or so to be a bit slow, but it picked up
nicely. I liked the end. It didn't seem as good as all the hype and
nominations that it's getting. I enjoyed American Beauty and Being John
Malkovich much more.

A couple of nights ago I was chanel flipping and I switched on the Martin
Short's late show. I came in in the middle of a joke, but am positive they
were playing the non-vocal part of Lullaby. And, mid-sentence, I caught Mr.
Short saying, "And they wonder why the song didn't get a (*blank-blank*
can't remember the kind) nomination! (pause for laughter) Maybe if the
director had collaborated with Santana instead..." or something. I thought
this might be a joke about Sinead -- she is such a popular joke target --
but couldn't be sure since I'd only caught the end of it. Anyone else see
it?

Also, on VH1's The List, one of the guests nominated NC2U for best video of
the nineties, which seemed to be an unpopular decision, and one of the other
guests struck it from the list.

Hi,

Yes I saw the movie Mr. ripley, and when Sinead's beautiful voice
came over the speakers, It was such a crystal clear voice full of emotion
that, listening to it among the all the movie goers (in public I suppose),
seemed strange. It was really nice. the movie was ok, I guess. But at the
beginning there was a singer/piano duo at a party (the film star was the
pianist), but the singer part should have been Sinead's part to be sure, she
would have been great for that. Oh well, wishful thinking I guess. But it
was worth it for the Sinead song. How pleased I was to hear it, it was like
a secret that I already knew about and no one else there new, from being on
the jitr list of course 8-) fun...

Take care,
Denis

hi jitr,

saw a mag called _in dublin_ up for bidding at e-bay,
which has a glorious cover pic of sinead wearing
strange, beaded headgear (middle-eastern?). dunno
whether marcel has posted it before, but if you
haven't seen it before, go check it out at:

Hi Kai Chai and others,

I actually have this pic from a review of Am I Not Your Girl? in a Turkish
magazine. I think there's a different shot of it in Roman & Marcel's site.
She wearing this hat again and is in a red dress.

I have lots of other cool Sinéad pictures waiting to be scanned. Hopefully,
one day... ;-)

Love and light,

Deniz

PS. I've at last listened to the Lilith Fair live version of Fire On Babylon
and been totally blown! Now, THAT is great!

hi jitr pple,

warning -- trivial e-mail:

just discovered something wonderful: has anyone
noticed something magical happening while listening to
_gospel oak_ with yr earphones plugged to the i-mac
computer?

the songs suddenly acquire "sonic depth," sounding
incredibly resonant. songs like 'this is to mother
you' and '4 my love' are astounding with this
sensurround
f/x. (of course, it just cd be that the volume was
quite high.....)

is the sound equally good on PCs?

kai chai.

I have just done the drawing, and the winner is...

Amanda Larkin!

Congratulations and I will put the book in the mail in the next day or two.

side note: I just saw the Butcher Boy for the first time. What a brilliant
movie! I had no idea what it was about, and I was a bit shocked at a couple
parts, but I really enjoyed it overall. It would be nice if Sinead would do
some more acting. She is so beautiful on screen!

Hello,

Why the hell didn't Sinead sing on the new Bob Marley album ???
Filled with duets between Bob Marley and other artists like;
Eryka Badu, Guru, Rakinm, MCLyte, Lauryn Hill, Busta Rhymes, Chuck D etc...

It's a missed oportunity for her, and I'm sure that she would have said yes.

It's my "this months" favorite cd (titled "Chant down Babylon")

Douglas Coupland, who coined the term Generation X, has a new book out with
an interesting title. This review from Powells.com.
from http://www.powells.com/express/contestreaderslanding.html

_Girlfriend in a Coma_ by Douglas Coupland

Coupland's 1998 novel (following _Generation X_,_Microserfs_, etc.) begins
alongside a British Columbia ski slope in 1979 as two teenagers, Richard and
Karen, lose their virginity in the snow. Later that night, Karen falls into
a coma. Girlfriend in a Coma follows her friends through the decades that
follow as each young adult stumbles reluctantly toward middle age. When
Karen finally wakes up, her friends can't help but consider what they've
made of the time she's missed, and what they might still make of the
future-but they hardly have time to celebrate her miraculous recovery before
everybody else in the world falls asleep. What a drag for them. _Girlfriend
in a Coma_ is a slap in the face, a wake-up call, an engaging literary
fusion of contemporary mainstream fiction and apocalyptic fable.

douglas copeland APPROPRIATED the term generation x....billy idol's punkish
band in the late 70s was called generation x. i wouldn't say they coined the
phrase either...i dunno who did but it's been in existence well before doug
came along. i will say he popularized the phrase as well as others ("veal
fattening pen" = work cubicle still makes me laff...as does "mcjob".)

just picking nits since my navel is lint-free.

marcel & fellow jitr pple,

my exact sentiments, when i was listening to the cd.
perhaps, it's because sinead's done 'them belly
full...'

i dunno, but from what i understand, it's the marley
sons who invited the guests. at one stage, they were
thinking of sarah mclachlan and tracy chapman, whom i
believe did participate in the bob marley tribute gig
recently. not once did they mention sinead.

kai chai.

ps. love the erykah badu song, and the way she's woven
in the 'no more trouble' bit.

Hello,

Well, being able to listen to many of Sinead's mp3's is a good
substitue until her new CD is released. I wonder if Atlantic is waiting for
a "right" time to do this? The list has been kind of quiet lately. Well, I
hope to hear some new Sinead news soon.BTW,When I record some music things,
they are instrumentals because I never found a voice that I liked very much,
but Sinead would be the exception to this. Every recording I hear with her
on it,is golden because of her contribution to it.8-)

Hi All,

I have been back since Monday and lost all my e-mail (358) thanks to
netactive. Anything going on with Sinead?
I am in a stage of my life that I desperately need a new Sinead cd!!!! Can
we maybe draw up a petition for the release. Yes, it is a bit far fetched.
I am impatient!! Luckily I do not have to suffer alone.

Bye
Me

Hi,

I was just wondering:

Does anyone know how to contact Sinead's publicist,
Lee Ellen Newman?....if anyone knows, please email me.

Bye for now,

Lion

Hi All,

I feel priviliged to be the one to share this with you. A friend of mine
works at a national magazine. Today he called Atlantic Records to find out
about upcoming releases in preparation for upcoming issues of the magazine.
The woman he spoke to, without my friend even mentioning Sinead, said that
Sinead's next solo album is due for release on May 23, 2000. She said that
Atlantic has not received anything from her yet, but that that is the
scheduled release date. This is all the information I have. So, anyone
want to start a countdown?

Christian

Hello all and Michael in specific,

Did the Digest version of the JITR die ????

Ever since January 1st I just received 3 digests (1 january / 4 january
10:21 / 4 january 22:18) after that none showed up in my postbox and I've
heard others have the same problem.....

So if you asked me something through the JITR since january 4th....I never
read it.

MICHAEL HELP ????

There was a problem on January 6 that kept digests from going out.
It took a while to figure it out -- what it turned out to be was a
line of code in Majordomo's digest-maker that relied on a particular
filename that had been changed when the server rebooted for the first
time after January 1... so it was a delayed Y2K problem, apparently.
The actual cause was not in UNIX but in the old BIOS of this machine
that came up with a bad system date.

Anyway, I am going to try to send a digest out now -- don't worry, you
have NOT been removed from the list if you get this message.

This is also going to the main list so everybody can be brought up to date.

Apologies for the difficulties,

hmm, maybe she wasn't asked.

Cedella Booker I know is looking for artists to play
the Bob birthday bash next month, I already did
suggest Sinead.

http://www.bobmarleymovement.com/marley/caribbean_festival.htm

I have an idea that Sinead's born-again rasta status
was somewhat connected to her renewed and now re-terminated
relationship with Fachtna.

Dear Friends

I apologise for using the list for this, but I could only send one message
and this is the easiest way to reach all my Friends at once.

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I had to leave my current job and
therefore won't be available for correspondence with everyone for a while.

Will explain later!

Love

Lizelle

I don't know how many of you are using a free and fast internet connection,
but in that case check www.netradio.com it has a folk channel where you can
hear pretty much irish artists.

Hello jitr friends.

I was wondering if anybody recently had any contact with NG .
Does anybody know his e-mail address.
I send him 5 video tapes with sinead stuff and he never paid for and even
does not reply to any of my e-mails. So I wonder, maybe he's got a new one
or I'm fucked up by him (can't believe that). So any help would be great full.

Hello,

Thanx to Roman we've got a new song on the server.
It's a REMIX of Release by Afro Celt Sound System entitled "Bi-Polar Vocal
Mix"
Sinead is much more doing the Lead vocals in this version, and AfroCelt's
vocals are more a kind of backing vocals....Also a faster extra beat is
added. But don't expect more lyrics by Sinead, they just repeat her vocals
more and removed a lot of the AfroCelt vocals.

I've tried to track the song to find out on which cd (or anything) it is
available but neither RealWorld (Peter Gabriels record label that released
the album), nor CDNow, nor any AfroCelt homepage does mention this version
or any cd-single of the album. According to the source it's from RealWorld.
Also listen to it and you'll find out the mix is to professional to be done
by someone at home with his PC or whatever. And faking a Sinead remixes
doesn't make much money like with Prince where a new (assumed) unreleased
official remix can make at least $1000.

The track (MP3) can be find in the "Unreleased" directory of the FTP server
and is titled;
"Sinead O'Connor & Afro-Celt Sound System - Release (Bi Polar Vocal)"

For the moment I made it a little easier to download (5.2 MB!!!) the song;
just click this address;
http://members1.chello.nl/~m.a.bobbink/ReleaseBiPolarvocal.mp3

Hi,

Why has jitr been so quite lately. Maybe we should start another hot
discussion (not leading to HUGE arguments). I do not have a topic in mind
at the moment (safe to keep of religion and politics - which doesn't leave
much options open).

Anyone with ideas?

Hi all,

This new version of afro celt/ sinead release is great.......

I've made a special cd-single for a special price ($4) + $2 postage with
these versions of it on it.

1. Release (edit) [taken from the stigmata soundtrack]
2. Release (album version)
3. Release (bi-polar vocal mix)

(and as a little bonus gift)
4. The lady is a tramp (From Sinead of course taken from the coffee and
sigarettes sessions, UNRELEASED, unfortunately it is only about 30 secs long)

Sleeve will be send as powerpoint file.
Anybody intrested in this short release cd with a great jazzy/trumpet remix....

e.verheijen02@chello.nl

The next could also apply on non-Sinead fans. Tori could not have said it
better.

I've checked around on the internet and haven't seen any CD-singles of
Release or any type of Release remix... Perhaps... perhaps this was made
using the multimedia thing which is supposed to be on the CD. Has anyone
been able to access this feature?

Cool remix!

Hey there,

Didn't mean that to ryhme, but according to a Peter Gabriel newsgroup the
Afro-Celt Sound System collaboration, Release, is soon going to be out as a
single.

Maybe that Bi Polarvocal remix is from that relese. Let's all wait to see.

Love and light,

i heard release used on that ford or dodge or some kinda TRUCK commercial the
other day. eeew.

also, (i dunno if i mentioned this before, if so, my apologies for the
redundancy,) the afro celt CD has a cool-ass interactive music program when
one places it in the cd drive on a computer. it is animated and very easy to
start playing with. one can save the musical creations in capsules and play
them again later. a nice little bonus besides the album of music itself.

Hello,

heyyyyyy.........
I totally forgot about that added track. I bought a new PC and haven't tried
it so far.
Did it just a moment ago;
No the only thing you can do is mixing music, a very tiny program with nice
music samples. But no vocals (at least I couldn't find them)

Has anyone listened to Dido?
Every once in a while she sounds a bit like Sinead. It's subtle, but it's there.....

Just a little something for you all:

Last night I went to a church function were a couple singles congregations
rented the entire roller skating rink. So were were there and I thought the
only thing that this thing needs is a bit of our lovely sinead. So I asked
them if they had any and they said no, just old disco and the recent to 40
junk. So I asked the manager if the would play it, and she said, we dont
have any. So I said that I had a cd in my car. She said, Well, it is a
private party... So I went and got it. (this time i only had the best of
cd. other wise I would have had them play chiquitita.) So I brought in the
best of cd and had them play mandinka. That was soo much fun I went and
asked them to play The emperors new clothes and they did. So it was just
soo very fun to hear sinead in a big croud, all cause of my persuasion. It
was a blast!.. Surprisingly one of my friends found out another sinead
track was coming, so she went up and told them to dedicate it to me. .....
AH, the good times!

Also, some time ago I saw the very same photo that they used on the va
pensiero single, on a US Bank poster. I learned that the portion of the cd
cover is a smaller portion of a bigger picture. Just thought I would let
you know.

Later, and hurrry with the new album.
Jay

Hi all,

Has anybody seen the two Sinead O'Connor videos selling on this site?
If so, are they worth buying?

Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone on the list had any
extra (probably not) copies of Alanis' very first
albums: (self titled) Alanis! and Now Is the Time

I have wanted these albums for a long time, but I know
they are very hard to find because they were only sold
in Canada. I know there is a bootleg called:
Alanis--Her First Two Albums and that's hard to find
too....

I am asking if anyone has these, because I recently
found this song called Too Hot (off her debut cd) and
I really really like it.....even though it's the kind
of music that madonna use to put out....I like it
because it's fun...and not so serious...

If anyone has any info on these albums, please let me
know...bye for now,

Lion

A Sundance web infiltration

After last year's Sundance discovery ``The Blair Witch Project'' surfed the
Web to become a box office phenomenon, it seems only appropriate that the
upcoming Sundance Film Festival receives a full Internet infiltration.

A web of Internet companies has joined forces to present an ``Interactive
Lounge,'' a fest-long bustle of computer companies that will hole up in Main
Street eatery Harry O's to show what the Web offers filmmakers, allow
aspiring creatives to pitch their wares to prospective backers, and stage
nightly concerts with such acts as Janet Jackson, Babyface, Perry Farrell,
Third Eye Blind and Sinead O'Connor.

Harry O's owner Kenny Griswold got involved after making his directing debut
on ``Net Worth,'' and helped organized the Webfest with his Innovative
Artists agent Dave Phillips. Dot-comers ShowBiz Data, Entertaindom and Sun
Microsystems are chief sponsors, with Communities.com, Dell Computers, EBay,
Firstuse.com Online Registry, LOADtv and Hitachi also involved.

The Sundance activities will also be Webcast through Entertaindom, whose exec
Jim Banister said the lounge will ``offer festival attendees a peek into the
future of entertainment. We're inviting cutting-edge filmmakers and writers
to the Lounge to discuss Internet-based collaborations.''

Among other activities, ShowBiz Data will stage a ``Pitch Festival,'' in
which movie ideas will be auctioned by pitchmeister Bob Kosberg for two hours
daily beginning at 2 p.m. ``The Interactive Lounge is the place where the
independent film community will meet Hollywood at the new frontier of
technology,'' said ShowBiz Data CEO Oliver Eberle.

The most unusual event: Lapdance, a bash organized by ``South Park'' creators
Matt Stone and Trey Parker, featuring a horde of scantily clad lapdancers.

well, since sinead is supposedly coming up with a new album, maybe it'd be
the best time to guess what kind of an album she's keeping under her
sleeves, or what sort of music, or what about, or what type of narration
will she include this time. i don't know, but i think it'd be nice
"anticipating" may 23, 2000.

hello,

Wow, I found out something some of you ofcourse already knew.....
When you play an audio-cd through WinAmp, winamp tries to connect with the
Internet automatically and goes to a huge database and tries to find the
tracklistening of that specific cd.
And really a lot of cd's are recognized automatically.

I even tried bootlegs of Prince and Sinead and quite a lot are
recognized........
(When I'm right lots of Sinead lists are put in the database of CDDA by
Roman ??)
