I just received Celtic Angels in the mail (got it for super cheap with a =
coupon), and in fact this version of He Moved Through the Fair is only =
3'40", which means it ends _before_ the applause we hear on Gospel Oak =
(meaning there is no applause on this version). Personally I like this =
better, because it just fades out into silence when the song is over, =
right at the end of the vocals (and then goes into a Chieftains song). =
The sleeve includes the same info and lyrics as Gospel Oak, and even =
says:

"[This song is] dedicated to the people of Israel, Rwanda and Northern =
Ireland."

Anyway, I imagine some people might want this now, e.g. Eduard, Ken, =
etc.

Both Amazon.com and a women's music site, Harmony Ridge claim to
be able to get it for a very steep price (around $35). I'm just praying that
the fickle deities of corporate rock will see fit to give it a US release.

Hey Holli and other interested Jumpers,

Well, I have the whole debut album from when it was released in Ireland
a few years back. You have one of two options! I can get someone I
know to make we a CD-R of it OR you can go to www.yalplay.com and do a
search for Sinead Lohan. They are selling it for 10 pounds British
Sterling! it's actually pretty easy to locate especially in Ireland!
My sister is heading there in 2 weeks so I could also have her get me a
copy!

One thing is for sure......YOU HAVE TO GET THIS ALBUM! It is REALLY
good!!

All the Best,

Ken

Hi all,

I bought on e-bay a Russian compilation cd from Sinead.
It's not a cdr but factory made, but nevertheless still can be a bootleg.
It's released by a factory called storm records.
Does anybody know anything about this.
Is is a official released item for the Russian market only or is it a
professional bootleg factory?
Also, the song chiquitta runs for only 3.59 instead of 4.25.
If it is a official release that means this is a official shorter version,
but if it is just a boot, well anybody can cut songs in half for a cd.

Please, who knows more about this factory, Russian market releases etc.

Thanks.... Eduard

anybody there on the great worldwide web?

well, here's something for you to munch on while we
await the Next Great Sinead Opus. i found this review
of IDWWIHG on this website which reviews the "best
music of the best artists ever" at
<http://www.siegeperilous.com/Music/Music.htm>

what's interesting is the opening line....

<MTV recently dubbed Sinead O’Connor to be a one-hit
wonder, which, they admitted, came under heavy
criticism. The criticism, we believe, stems from the
implication that if only one song was a hit, then only
one song is any good. That of course isn’t necessarily
true and is definitely refuted by listening to her CD,
I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got, in which every song
is a hit in our book. O’Connor is one of those girls
who displays the power and talent of her voice by
changing octaves mid-syllable, as demonstrated in the
song, "Three Babies", where, in just a few notes, she
travels from a Wicked-Witch-Of-The-West growl to a
 glass-breaking, tweeter-shattering howl.

It’s all very impressive if you’re musically savvy and
into that sort of thing, but even if you’re not, you
can still appreciate the sincerity and conviction that
is clearly apparent in her music, even if you don’t
agree with her political convictions. We believe that
true music is more than just listening to a
composition of notes being played; rather it is an
expression of a truth (much like any great work of
fiction or poetry) in musical form. Much of the music
in the seventies (i.e., disco) and eighties (i.e.,
pop) lost sight of the true goal of music, which, as
we understand it, is why alternative rock dominates
the nineties. O’Connor’s I Do Not Want What I Haven’t
Got exemplifies alternative rock.>

Hi,

I noticed that it is very quiet. It is very very hot in South Africa and it
seems appropriate that nothing should go on anywhere. Not even on jitr.
Listening to Tom Jones on
5 FM and wondering if Lizelle is also listening. Sounded so funny - fact
that you mentioned "worldwide web". I can picture everybody all over the
world sitting at their computers and checking for incoming mail - just like
the movie "Contact".

I know I am babbeling. Maybe I am bored or something. No, I do not have
any work at the moment.

Bye.
Me

HEADLINE: Sinead O'Connor says she's given up celibacy

DATELINE: DUBLIN, Nov 4

BODY:
   Irish singer Sinead O'Connor, who was ordained as a priest by a rebel
Roman Catholic group in April, confessed Thursday that she had failed
to live up to her vow of celibacy.

O'Connor, also now known as Mother Bernadette Mary, told Irish television
that she took a vow of celibacy when she was ordained near
Lourdes in France.

But she added: "I lasted about three months. I failed miserably. I have
a man who I have been in love with for years who I go out with."

"I meant well by doing the celibacy thing but it doesn't work for me
because I need love and affection and that kind of thing.

"I think celibacy is a very powerful thing if it's voluntary. I wouldn't
give up being a priest but I couldn't handle celibacy now. I tried. No
thanks."

O'Connor was ordained by Irish "rebel" bishop Michael Cox as priestess
of the Latin Tridentine Church, a breakaway order.

The singer said that as a "maverick" priest she cannot say mass in a
Roman Catholic church, but she plans to buy a church building and say public
masses "when I am ready for that."

She said she had spent the summer in the United States working on a new
album which would be "sexier" than her earlier work.

Hey Jumpers,

I found this kind of interesting! My Mom bought me this board game
called VH1 Pop-Up Videos Trivia Game! Well, it does contain a trivia
card for Sinead on NC2U! There are four regular questions and then four
extra credit questions on the back! Here are the questions:

1. Sing any line from this song
2. This video mostly consists of shots of what?
3. Perform this: Act out what Sinead did on Saturday Night Live that
got her in trouble.
4. Which shock comedian once referred to Sinead as "that bald chick"?

Extra Credit:

1. What "incomparable" musician write this song?
        a) Carole King    b) Axl Rose    c) Bono    d)Prince
2. What house pet does Glenn Close boil to death in the movie Fatal
Attraction?
3. What does Eric Roberts "lose" in The Pope of Greenwich Village?
        a) a winning lottery ticket    b) his thumb    c) diamonds    d)
his virginity
4. In cooking, what does it mean to "dice"?

ANSWERS CONTAINED BELOW!!!

Regular questions:

1. Did you sing a line.....It'd be real surprised if you didn't
2. Close-ups of Sinead's face
3. Player mines ripping up a picture of the Pope.
4. Andrew Dice Clay

Extra Credit answers:

1. D
2. A rabbit
3. B
4. To cut into small cubes

All the Best,

Ken

Hello jitrians,

I'm still here wondering whether the general listening audience (i.e.
yourself), having bought any of the new James output, accepts the
declaration from a very member of the band that Sinead sings with them only
on "Vervaceous" and "I Defeat."

I also wanted to give an update on the Chieftains box set I mentioned, The
Claddagh Years. As someone intuitive might have guessed, this 4-CD set is
culled from the group's earliest of days, Claddagh being a minor-league
record label. Sinead was, in all likelihood, still wearing diapers while
these songs first were put into circulation, so forget about my collab
inference.

I've heard no word from you bloody English folk on that Faithless rerelease
of Sunday 8PM, which probably has no Sinead involvement at all, but SHOULD
by all accounts (meaning: mine). CDNow gives it a November 23rd release
date, but we Americans always get all the good stuff late, ya' know.
Anyway, how could she not have had time to throw some wailing in for just
the one tune, huh?

In other out-on-a-limb news as far as Sinead content, former and future
collaborators Colourfield and Nitin Sawhey each have releases coming up,
those respectively being a Japanese version of Virgins And Philistines (with
8 bonus tracks, none of which are "Monkey In Winter") on January 10th and a
2-part 12" release of "Immigrant" from the guy with the weird name on the
15th of this month. Also, James will come out with the third crop of
singles, this time for "We're Going To Miss You," on December 6th. I'll be
buying that despite what their stupid keyboardist says, hoping for some
Irish lilting in the background, not to mention because I flat-out like
James. (Good name too, by the way.)

And this I've got to tell you guys for no reason at all other than to tickle
that proverbial funny bone. Go to http://rinkworks.com/dialect and type in
the jitr URL, paste this e-mail, or enter any text you want, then pick your
preferred dialect -- redneck, cockney, jive -- and laugh your ass off. Hear
how a total hick would wax philosophical about Sinead. Cor blimey, Guv,
it's great! Try it. (Warning: humor may be lost on foreign speakers.)

Sleep tight, Jim.  (Dawgone it.)

Okay,

To Americans:

Hi all,
   I'm sorry to use this list for this but I hope someone in the USA can
help me.
This is precisely for those ones who know a singer called LORI CARSON.
I think she's fantastic (like Sinead, but in a differnt way) but here in
Italy is very hard to find anything about her.
I only have her latest cd EVERYTHING I TOUCH RUNS WILD (which I really
recommend) and would like to buy the previous ones. I don't have credit card
so I can't get them by internet so my request is to buy them for me in
theUSA. Of course I will send you money before you buy.
Please let me know if it is possible for you to meet me half-way.
thank U
Alex

P:S: LORI made only 2 cds before the one mentioned

Hey Alex,

If it's the singer I am thinking about she is from Boston! She performs here in
local places and I have listened to her a number of times of the radio doing
live performances! I think she just released a new CD of live stuff that she
recorded while she was in Italy! Plus she has a website that I remember
visiting and I may have it bookmarked!

Let me know if that sounds familiar.....and since I live in Boston I can help
you track down the CD's for you and get you some copies!!

All the Best,

Ken

Can someone please help me obtains some MP3's of James's new album and
esspecially the B-side duet with Sinead. I had joined this SINEAD O'CONNOR
group at a website that was supposed to have an MP3 of I Defeat but no one
would ever give me approval.

I'd just go out an buy it, but I'd like to hear a little first and it
hasn't been released in the US anyways.

Thanks,

Does anyone have a collection of Sinead's various interviews. In the USA
she was on the Arsino Hall show years ago and the Jon Stewart show when UM
came out but that's about it. I'd love to get a video tape of her being
interviewed.

Is there any video or something with the song "Troy" on?

Hi Jitr Members,

Firstly - I bought myself the new Tori Amos cd (to venus and back) over =
the weekend and
WOW!!! "Cooling" and "Bliss" is AWESOME and the rest (I like cd 2 - =
live concert). Between her and Sinead (and the Cranberries) I will =
never not buy the newest cd.

Last night 2 friends came to visit me and I had to play them Sinead the =
whole evening after I started. They are not at all familiar with her =
other music and I had to play "Nothing Compares 2 U" (which they knew) =
and "Red Football" repeatedly. It was so wonderful to share it with =
someone - my other friends think it is too depressing. Well, Sinead =
fans are complex characters with very deep feelings and emotions. =
Passionate and sensitive people - in one way or the other - Do you =
agree.

Have a WONDERFUL DAY.

Love ya
Michelle

Hi all,

If you can watch the European vhs-pal format then I have lots and lots and
lots of video's from Sinead to offer.
I usually ask $15 for a 4hr tape filled with whatever you want (movies she
appears in), interviews, TV appearances, live concerts etc.
I also can make you a tape with almost all her video clips but this one
will be $20 as I had to pay awfully lots of money to buy all those originals.

But be aware that those tapes are VHS-PAL and not the USA VHS-NTCS format.

Feel free to mail me with all questions.

Eduard (eduflo@telekabel.nl)

You know I realized the same thing a couple weeks ago when I was working. I
was really depressed at the time and the way she sang and the lyrics were
really soothing.
Yeah before Is sound any more corny.....I'll shutup!
Umm have I a question for anyone willing to help, I have a problem....I
heard 'My Special Child' and I totally loved the song(I cired..I know I'm
over emotional)...anywho...I was wondering if someone out there wold be so
kind as to record it for me(I saw the video for it...which would be why I
want a recording)but just the song,like  on a cassette or a cd...and maybe
'Damn Your Eyes' anywho I'd be more than willing to pay for it....
Thanx in advance.
Oh and I was watching MTV over the weekend with my sis, and they had an
interview with Prince and it showed about a 10 second clip of NC2U as a song
Prince gave to someone(OHH and it even showed Susanna Hoffs(of the
Bangles)...but no Bangles, now that pisses me off, the rest of the Bangles,
Debbi Vicki and Michael, played and sang on the song....GRR..anywho before I
get all defensive....)
Stay Cool
Ken, I knwo this is a bit late, but I haven't checked my email for a while,
I'm not religous, but I wish your brother and your family the best of luck
through out this trial in your lives.
Amy

alex,

hey, lori carson in fact has a brand new album just
out. it's called _stars_, out on restless records, and
it's probably the most deliciously melancholic album
you'd ever hear this year, and has been garnering rave
reviews. she's also appeared on albums for the golden
palominos.

hope this helps.

kai chai.

i went to see RIGHTEOUS BABES, the "feminists in rock" documentary at my
local art house cinema tonite. keep yr eyes peeled kids! sinead fuckin oozes
charisma and integrity. no one in the audience really responded when they
showed her at first, as they did when ani di franco showed up in the film.
the film plays the video of "fire on babylon", shows sinead in tabloid
clips, shows clips/soundtrack of NC2U, and shows her at the bob dylan tribute
stopping the band and singing "WAR" . the film audience burst into
spontaneous cheering & applause when she stepped away from the microphone
and lifted her chin and gave that "fuck you" little headshake when she
stopped singing. she was immense, even tho i have seen that footage five
times already. in the interview portions she looks long-haired, stoned and
actually chubby in the face, she is wearing a black t-shirt that says in huge
letters: remember__________________. to my everlasting shame i cannot
remember who it is i was instructed to remember. how sad. various things
sinead says were applauded by the audience as she responds in the interview
portions. she comes off as smart and sassy and not worried about glam shit,
cos she doesn't have to. they also play a small bit of "thank you for hearing
me". there's lots of other cool musicians in this film too. everyone RIPS the
spice girls. it's quite funny. GO SEE IT!!!

"fire on babylon" was part of the background music on 48 hours, a crappy tv
news magazine show in the US, a couple weeks ago. i just happened to switch
channels to that show when what i was watching was on commercial. weird. the
story was about a murder.

sinead has a portrait in a book i saw at a local bookstore called "jane bowen
observer". i have never seen this photo before, tho it may be archived online
somewhere. sinead is looking down, elbow bent leaning on the arm of the
couch, her arm up next to her face , bald headed with a cigaret stuck behind
her ear.

~~~~~~just some recent sightings~~~~~~~
peace & love
hi jitr pple,
has anybody (particularly in the states) caught the
movie _stigmata_ starring patricia arquette and
gabriel byrne and whose soundtrk features 'release'?
am planning to watch the flick (though it got savage
reviews) for the sake of listening to the song in a
big hall, but wondering whether it's played at all in
the film. so.... anyone watched it? plse clarify, and
tell us whether it's the same version or an edited
version that's different from those from the original
afro-celt album and soundtrk album.
thanks.
It helps if you know the roots of the Catholic church a little...
It's worth the price to see it!!
hello LC,
Concerning the font, it looks like you get a bigger kick on spreading it to
"hurt" me, then on having the font itself. Besides that I don't see the font
because I'm using the Digest version and besides that people who have the
direct version don't see it either (Majordomo can only handle ASCII, thought
you knew that much about computers ????)
Funny is yesterday you wrote how nice those songs on UM were. I already said
to my girlfriend that you'd start flaming in some days.....and you're trying
to start again ;-)))) I already anounced your methods some weeks ago. Read
back the older JITR's; first you start by saying some positive friendly
uninteresting info. (I love those songs....or.....still no-one have the
L&C-music book...etc) after that the flames/hurting begins ;-))))))
Ohoh to whom it may concern....the font isn't mine, someone else took the
time and effort to spend hours/days/weeks on creating it. One guy really got
the font and shared it with 2 or 3 other people , and one of those 2-3
(incl. me) was so stupid to share it and so disrespecting the promise he/she
made to the person he got it from not to share it with anyone.
I assume that someone lost his trustability against the person he got it
from.
BTW; In the meantime you're about 2-3 years on this mailing list, in the
biginning I mentioned to fogive you because you're probably a newby on
Internet and about 17 years old, the age some kids seems to have a need to
kick against everything the can. So in this counting you should be about 20
nowadays. But looking at your acts you're now about 17 trying to kick
around, so in those days you must have been about 14/15. Man grow up get a
life.
But if it's needed for you to grow up, go on and battle me. And if you
really have to do that through the JITR, 200 others are also reading your
childish acts.
FACE DOWN, JUST LIKE ELVIS !
Hello (Kai Chai)
The Stigmata cd indeed includes an editted version of Release.
I have bought the albbum (as a full promo album) through eBay, it gets up
there over and over, and in the end it mostly gets sold for about $6-10.
Concerning the Russian Bootleg/Pirate (Greatest Hits) sold through eBay
lately, it's real, I bought it to and it arrived yesterday.
Concerning the other bootlegs on eBay meaning the 1987 ones incl. the Song
DREAMS (???) or the the one titled "I USED TO BE BEAUTIFUL" did anyone buy
it and really receive it ???
It gets on eBay over and over, and I'm really curious !!!!!!!!
Concerning James, is the cds with I DEFEAT the only one I should buy or does
any other also (probably) incl. Sinead-vocals ?
People living in Europe; you can get the single very cheap through CDNOW,
for just $5 it's yours. If you order cds with a total for $14.99 you get $10
discount by using coupons through this page
http://www.stormloader.com/cdshopper/default.htm
No matter which/howmany cd's you order above $14.99 you always can get $10
discount through that page.
Safed me already $50 in the last 3 months
I saw Stigmata at Studio 35 here in Columbus, I'm glad I only paid $3 to see
it and Stirs of Echoes. (I liked Stirs of Echoes, though; it was at least
fun and allowed for the willing suspension of disbelief.)
I thought Stigmata was one of the worst films I've seen in years! It wasn't
supposed to be funny, but I got a few good chuckles out of it because it was
so bad. They do play a bit of Release, but not very much -- thirty seconds
maybe, not enough really to warrant seeing it on the big screen. I was super
disappointed. The plot is very contrived. I think maybe someone wanted to
make a film and include some religious imagery so they made up a plot around
the scenes they wanted to shoot. My *favorite* part of the movie is where
Gabriel Byrne and Patricia Arquette are chatting at a café. Evidently, their
conversation is so clever, the audience isn't allowed to hear it (probably
because the screenwriter wasn't clever enough be able to write interesting
dialogue between the two). Some kind of romantic music, if I recall, comes
up pretty loud, and the two _mime_ conversation! It was totally hokey. I
could go on and on about how this movie sucked -- there are so many fine,
fine examples -- but I'd rather not spoil the infantile plot for anyone
interested in seeing it. Of course, hearing me knock it might lower your
expectations enough that you'll be surprised that it didn't suck as much as
I suggested, and then you'd be pleased. Still, I think I'd have to encourage
even my worst enemy from wasting money on renting it. I hated it. And though
I'm not Catholic, I really hope their portrayal of the church is far from
accurate.
I want to know what the hell is up with sinead being a priest.  I thought she
was against organized religion and now here she is with her own church.  Can
someone please tell me what the hell happened to the old sinead?!
There are I think 2 or 3 volumes of Planete Afrique, each of them being
just a collection of african songs (with awful typing mistakes in the
titles ...) . I only own the vol.1 (with no Biko on it), but I'm pretty
sure these are all album versions.
Hum... I don't have the CD here ... but if I remember well, Juluka's song
is spelt "Scarttelings of Africa" instaead of "scatterlings", there is also
one in Sipho Mchunu's name and I think Alpha Blondy's song also has one...
I think my volume has something like 10 tracks with only one or two that
are coorect ;o))
it's amazing...
Hey Jumpers,
It's been a little while since I wrote but I had a few things to let you
all know about!
First of all, “the the” are back with a new tour and I think a new album
although I
haven't searched it out yet!  I will be seeing them on Dec 8th in Boston
at the Middle
East which is a great place to see concerts!  Most likely no Sinead but
I love them
anyway!  I have seen them about three times and each time they are
better than the
last!
Secondly, everything I owe people has been sent so be on the lookout
except for Larry
S. in New York!  Yours is on the way tomorrow!
Thirdly, and this is mostly to Eduard but other people maybe
interested......I bought the
Rod Stewart video collection while I was in New York a couple of weeks
back and
The Motown Song video is on it which is the cartoon video that contains
Sinead in it!  It is very funny and it is just like I remembered it!
You can get it on VHS also but I'm not sure about the PAL version!
Fourthly, I did purchase that Beautiful bootleg that has been on ebay
and the song
Dreams in actually The Value of Ignorance!  It is a great bootleg and it
is worth the money!
Fifthly, I saw Stigmata and I didn't like it at all!  In fact I feel
asleep with boredom!
Now I have nothing against anyone who liked the movie but I didn't!  Who
knows
maybe I was kinda sleepy that night but that never happens to me in
movies!
I think that is all for now but I just thought I would ask one small,
tiny
question.........<start whine>WHEN IS THE NEW ALBUM COMING
OUT????????????<end whine>
All the Best,
Ken
