I just woke up from a really weird dream:

All these male singers were at this huge festival and they started to =
sing Fire On Babylon group-style, with each person taking a line =
(similar to We Are the World) and then all joining in together for the =
chorus. The funny thing is that they weren't particularly singers I =
liked. The second verse was sung by Aaron Neville ("she took my sister =
and brothers"), and of course he sang "bro-o-o-o-o-thers" in his typical =
ultra-melodramatic, high-pitched style (it was hilarious). So, soon =
after Aaron Neville finished, I ran up onto stage and totally took over =
the song. There was an empty gap in the middle of the stage where I =
stood, and there were about 3 people on each side of me. Everyone kept =
on singing, but I was just sure they were going to grab me and throw me =
off. However, everyone kept on singing as if I were supposed to be =
there! It was cool!

Hello All,

I was just wondering if any of you would like to speculate on what
Sinead's new album will be like? Soft? folky? Rock? . What direction will
she go in.? Just a thought.

This a message to all the new members that have
recently joined (many of you people who have been on
the list have heard this many times, but this will a
monthly message. To all the new members who have
joined recently--I am looking for the music book to
The Lion and the Cobra. It was published by
International Music Publications back in 1988. It was
only made and sold in the UK. International copyright
kept the book from being released in the U.S. If you
HAVE a copy of this book or know anyone who has it
please email me!

Thanks

(sorry to all the other members...I get sick and tired
of writing it...it's hardwired into my head
but...until me and Ken find this book...this is going
to be a monthly message)

bye for now

Lion

=====
God commanded his angels concerning you
To protect you in all your ways
They will carry you up in their arms
To keep your foot from striking a stone
You will tread upon the lion and the cobra
You will trample the great lion and serpent

Ulrika Jonsson hasn't even hosted the Hot Press Rock Awards yet, but
she's already on to a winner.

I grabbed the chance to give her one of this year's classy gongs before
the Dublin bash at the HQ venue this Thursday when we met for lunch.

"Justice at last," she beamed as I cheekily presented her with the accolade.
"Mike Edgar got one last year so it's about time I got one too.

"What's it for though - best TV presenter I hope," she continued. "Or
maybe best looking woman - I wish!"

Ulrika and BBC Northern Ireland man Mike Edgar will re-form their dynamic
duo partnership to host the showbiz bash in Dublin.

It may not be in Belfast this year, but the Hot Press Rock Awards still
have a distinct Ulster angle to them thanks to the show's host Mike Edgar.

An array of celebrities will join Mike and Ulrika at the swanky venue
for the biggest night in Irish music.

The Corrs, Westlife, Boyzone, B*Witched, U2 and Sinead O'Connor are just
some of the names strongly rumoured to be appearing.

"It's going to be a major night for Irish music," Mike told me. "I am
really excited about hosting it again this year.

"Obviously it's great to be able to bring an Ulster angle. The last two
years these awards have been staged in Belfast but the time was right to
try something new.

"It is very possible that they could return to Belfast again sooner rather
than later, but we decided that Dublin deserved a chance to host them this
time."

Last year, I joined Downpatrick rockers Ash at their table. Chaos reigned
supreme around me as Sinead O'Connor, Bono and Ronan Keating grabbed all
the
attention.

"This year is going to be even madder," Mike said. "Dublin is the back
garden of many of the big stars now so you can imagine some of the big
names who are going
to turn up to this."

I'll be reporting from the bash for the News Letter on the big night
to bring you all the exclusive back stage gossip.

Greetings fellow Jumpers,

Unfortunately, for quite some months now, I haven't found the time to read
the JITR postings. I made the exception today, at the expense of my
schedule (and yes, partly because I'm in a very mellow space at present
(Universal Mother is playing in the background)) as I've been most
anxiously anticipating news of Sinead's long awaited new LP. I only
managed to get through a few of the postings from the beginning of the
month, postings to which I feel compelled to respond to. I couldn't read
further, as I was pressed for time, and so, maybe this belated response
may be entirely inappropriate, as the issue may already be resolved. Less
none, I feel I must respond to what little I did read, so as to dispel any
false notions wrongly spread. And if it is indeed utterly inappropriate,
I apologize in advance (though that makes no sense whatsoever, but then
hey, this is jitr.) Here goes:

lioncobra, you are an idiot! Of all the folks on this list, why choose to
disrespect Marcel? Do you really think that you have more credibility on
this list than Marcel? I am so tired of your pathetic attempts to be
anti-social, you, you ... wannabe Holden Caulfield!

I owe thanks to a certain few people on this list, for they are the ones
who have aided me chiefly me in the acquiring of my rather extensive
(though far from complete) personal Sinead collection, notably, Bruno,
Eduard and Marcel. Primary amongst these contributors has been Marcel. I
have had quite a few transactions with Marcel, enough that I can no longer
remember just how many. On no occasion has he failed to carry out his
part of the agreement.

In fact, allow me to share the quite telling example of our last
transaction. I had purchased from him the video titled, The Value of
Ignorance. It turned out that the last two songs from the video were
mysteriously missing. I wrote this to Marcel, and he, kindly, and at no
extra cost to myself, sent me another complete copy. In the event that
you cannot infer from this anecdote the underlying point which I intended,
as you seem tragically dull-witted, let me state it clearly: Marcel is not
out to rip people off.

I know, I know, you all are thinking "why don't you have your filters set
up to automatically delete any messages from lioncobra." Well, to be
honest, its just that his emails truly are amazing, for he just never
ceases to outdo himself and make himself look more stupid. It's really
not all that easy a thing to do actually.

On another note, Mooncalf, that story about your grandmother was just
hilarious!! I can't say that I've been personally able to win over Sinead
fans with just quite the same level of zeal and appreciation that I have,
as you've oddly managed to do. However, I have oft been told I should be
her promoter.

And yeah, lastly, that stuff about swearing on Sinead, though I could
totally see that happening, well, that's just sick.

Later all,
man, its been so long,

Bilal

p.s. y'know, now, I can't but feel like an idiot for actually responding
to lioncobra. Don't you just wonder whether or not he's actually someone
intelligent, who intentionally does these things just to see how much he
can piss people off, and then laughs maniacally when we actually respond
to, and justify ourselves to the runt-like personality he's managed to
create here? All this in spite of the fact, that innocents in Chechnya,
and the world over, would be more deserving of our responses and
attentions ... damn, now I just feel like a moron ...

Hi there,

I've just watched the documentary, Cool To Be Celtic in the ARTE - I must
say that I was expecting and interview, new coverage, a special live
performance so it was a bit of disappointment to see only a nearly one
minute clip of Chiquitita video.

And this is, without a single doubt, the best disappointment of my life!!!
Hey, what a beautiful piece it is! Obviously the best kitchen I've ever
seen!

Such a wonderful video made me imagine a probable Chiquitita single.
Wouldn't it be great if the track and the video were accompanied by a CD
single, lots of promotion stuff and air-play as well? Maybe Sinéad (and her
record company) didn't want't such a publicity before her long-awaited
Atlantic debut, who knows?

I really don't know what to think about the new album now. It was said to be
out last summer in lots of articles but there isn't even a bit of info so
far. Yesterday I checked out Wall Of Sound, which has a great source for
release dates - they even have the dates for early 2000 - and depressed not
to see any Sinéad release info.

I wonder if I'll see the day holy that fucking album is gonna be released!

Love and light,

Deniz

PS. Anybody heard the James track, I Defeat yet?

Hi there,

Here's my personal guess:

Something of reggae, soft hip-hop beats, powerful vocals, both traditional
and electronic feel and some guest appearences as well. Maybe even a duet!
(Hmm, I should be an oracle!)

I also bet that there will be a pic of her on the cover and she won't use
the UM font. There will be 10 tracks. :))))

Love and light,

Deniz

Dear Micheal and other JITR members.
I repect the rights of everyones point of view and have been automatically
deleting messages from Lion.
I do feel that he is extremely disrespectful to the list in general and
should be warned about his behavior or removed entirely from the list if he
has nothing to say but swear words and contempt that he holds for other
individuals. This in itself is a form of abuse and I personally will not
let it go on any further. This has always been a very mature list, yes at
times we have all had issues, but it seems Lion just keeps stirring the pot.
Why? I do not know?

I would like to request that he be removed from this list. Please put your
name down if you agree and Micheal Birch can be the voice of reason....

Lion - I hope that someday in your own time you feel you don't have to
attack people to get your point across. Someone once told me that if you
whisper, people will try harder to hear what you are saying then if you
yell. Godspeed....and I am sorry to hear of your abuse. Truly, Holli.

Warning/Removal Request
1. Holli Marshall

Dear Lion & Other's

I thought you were a nice person, now I see you getting personal with a very
good friend of mine (Holli). How can you be so mean? And why?

(I know they can fight their own battles, but I thought you should hear this
from me too)

These people have done nothing to you, to deserve the way you talk about
them....have they? Anyway, I don't want to get involved with these
arguments, I just wanted to tell you to please cool it. You don't know
Holli, or any of the others personally. So that gives you no right to abuse
them with your fulthy words. It is not neccesary...

You also have no right to tell others how and what to say on this list, if
you don't like what they have to say, just delete & ignore the damn
message....it's that simple!

For your own good, I think you need to re-think your strategy on how you
treat people. Because this one is not doing you any good.

If you want to get angry at me for all the above things I have said, ...I'll
tell you know...you'll get no response from me......

Friendship costs nothing, and you CAN be nice if you want to (I Know)

>From

Lizelle

P.s If you know anything about abuse, then you will not condemn Holli for
the work that she does. If you don't know anything about abuse, then keep
quiet. Don't talk about things you know nothing about.

I waited in until 1:30am on Saturday to watch this Cool to be Celtic show
and when Sinead came on with the Chiquitita Video I was completely
overwhelmed with emotion. (nothing to do with the bottle of wine I had
consumed waiting in ;-)) What an amazing video. I had never seen this
before!! It is hard to explain the video as when I do it sounds boring, but
it is not at all. It simply shows Sinead in a kitchen doing stuff that most
people do in a kitchen, like washing up and cleaning down surfaces etc. BUT
Sinead somehow seems to make this into a really beautiful, sincere, warming
scene. Sinead also looks amazingly sexy in this too. I think it is just
the way she is.
In any case, I would like to get my hands on the full video.
If anyone has it then please let me know.

Au Revoir,

Sean

Why, right here! He's our very own little Lion_Cobra!

Oh, my! It was much easier to follow Claudia's advice (long
over due me following it) and blocking all mail from M. Cobra or
containing his name. Alas, it's not that I'm offended or hurt
or even terribly bothered, just bored by his
oh-so-my-teenage-soap-opera-antics.

And since I've read my last message from M. Cobra, I'm even less
concerned with whether he stays on the list or not, and I sure
don't have to worry about reading his "You guys gotta help me
find this songbook so I can continue to be a little bic"
postings.

I'm not going to do it because I'm too apathetic, but those of
you who are more seriously offended might be interested to know
that you can report M. Cobra's highly intellectual and very
mature behavior at, as I presume Holli might appreciate, the
aptly named abuse@yahoo.com. (Holli, I only mean to say, since
you said you wouldn't tolerate his "abuse" any more -- nada
else).

Below I shall paste part of yahoo's Terms of Service. Yahoo
reserves the right to revoke accounts of members who violate the
TOS (and maybe that's why I'm not reporting him, because I think
the terms are a little vague -- surely a little profanity is
good for the soul -- and I could just as easily be guilty of
breaking the TOS, so it'd be a little hypocritical for me to
report someone else), but, FYI, this is a valid option for
others more pissed off than me to persue.

And here's what Yahoo says to do about violators:

<<Harassment, impersonation, pornography:
If you have received any other kind of unwanted email including,
but not limited to harassment, threats, vulgarity, or
pornography, we will need a copy of the materials received by
you and an unedited copy of any email messages sent to you
including full file headers. Forward this information to
abuse@yahoo.com >>

Hello Everyone,

I am home sick from work and I am doing a lot of things that should have
been done a long time ago! The people who are expecting stuff from me
Lita, Deniz, Christiane, Wayne and Lizelle should be happy to know that
I just finished packing the last box and as soon as I send this message
I am off to the post office! Everything is going out priority so check
for it in about three days! Yes, everything is going but I will be soon
having another major contest!

OK, on to the bullshit I was refering to in my subject line! With all
due respect to everyone that I love on this list including Holli, Bilal,
Jesseca, Lizelle! I luv you all no matter what!! I have to say that
also includes Mister Lion_Cobra!!!!!! I may not love everything that
everyone says but I do NOT agree with censorship of any form!! Even
hate groups have a right to there opinions! Opinions are based on that
persons interactions with said people and if they have not had great
dealings with them they have every right to express that!!

I may not like it but I don't have to read it! The ever wise Claudia
has stated this before!! Please think about what you are proposing!
Removing somebody from a list because you do not like what they say!!
Will that really fix the problem or will that just keep the feeling from
being heard!! The feelings will still exist!!

If I held that believe, I would not be a Sinead fan! Sinead has done
some things in the past that have offending me personally but I respect
her RIGHT to say or do WHATEVER she pleases!! Please think about what
you are trying to do!! Somebody in New York is trying to show a art
exhibit with shit smeared all over a picture of the Virgin Mary!! Do I
like that? NO Do I respect that artists right to display it? YES
(without government funds)!!! In the past I have had a few fights with
Holli and if you ask Holli now, she will tell you that we have resolved
our differences and are DECENT to eachother!! We respect each others
OPINIONS!!! Look at the big smoking debate in America!! Instead of
fighting smoking where we should, we are just going to put the company
who makes the product out of business!! Will that really stop people
from smoking?? NO, it will create an underground market for
cigarettes!! The way to solve the problem is HELP the people who smoke
to fight the habit!!

PLEASE JUST THINK ABOUT THINGS AND DON'T LET EMOTION RULE YOUR
BEHAVIOUR!!

OK, I'm done!! I apologize for this and I hope that you all understand
that I love everyone of you!! So with this statement I hope you will
understand that I am not trying to strong hold any body from doing what
they desire to do but.........

"If Lion_Cobra is removed from this list......I will remove myself from
this list as a protest to censorship"

Boy, I know you think that I am being childish or "controversial" but I
will do this just to show everyone what censorship does to a
community!! It stops the bad but it also stops the good as well!!

Peace to All,

Ken

I can't remember what Elm Street movie Sinead was featured on! Can
anyone remember? I just bought the DVD box set and it has a lot of
extra material including video's and snipets from musical artists that
worked on the movies! I'm trying to track down any Sinead info that
maybe contained but it is 8 DVD"S so there is ALOT of material to go
through!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ken

I have to agree with Ken.

I don't condone slandering people in a public forum (I have had some of
that
from a member of this list, so I do know what it feels like), but we do
have
a choice to ignore or delete messages which we don't wish to read.

Lion hasn't exactly received a lot of respect either. Maybe the way he
goes
about things isn't the 'best' way to gain respect, but calling him
immature
and other names isn't exactly going to make him feel good about himself
or
the list either. Sometimes knowing you are being heard (and not hated)
is
enough. It's amazing what a little tolerance and dare I say it, love,
can
do.

To quote Guz: "Peace please"

Who knows, maybe Lion is a male Sinéad in the making, waiting for the
right
channel for that anger! Kicking him off the list isn't the answer IMO.

If Lion is removed (when there is an option of anybody choosing to
delete or
ignore) then I request to be removed along with him and Ken.

-Maria
P.S. my apologies for talking about Lion as if he wasn't here... no
offence!
Love to you all.
P.P.S when is Sinead's new albummmmmm going to coooooome
outtttttttttt????

Holli...Have you ever heard of the Bill of Rights?

Let me list them for you: (in no particular order):

1. Freedom of the press
2. Freedom of Religion
3. The freedom to asseble peacefully
4. FREEDOM OF SPEECH
5. freedom to petition....so...petition if you
must....BUT THESE ARE MY RIGHTS AND I HAVE EVERY RIGHT
TO EXPRESS MSYELF HOWEVER I SEE FIT.

Here is my problem with you Holli:

"This in itself is a form of abuse"
"Sorry for your abuse"......see......your always
talking about it...do you think it makes you stand out
in a crowd?...

By the way...YOU HAVE NO IDEA ON WHAT I HAVE BEEN AND
NOT BEEN THROUGH ...SO STOP SPECULATING AND STOP
THINKING YOU KNOW EVERYTHING...

Here is a little quote I made myself especially for
you: "God created man. Man created God. God is the
higher power, not man."...get what I'm saying? DO NOT
THINK YOU CAN TELL ME WHAT TO DO....and I can't tell
you what to do...but I can say EXACTLY WHAT I WANT
TO...

They will carry you up in their arms
To keep your foot from striking a stone
You will tread upon the lion and the cobra
You will trample the great lion and serpent

What the Hell ever happened to freedom of speech and freedom of expression?
One would be inclined too think that a true Sinead fan would know. Leave

approaching interesting to say. I for one look forward to his postings.
Lion, if these oppressors of freedom let you see this...Give 'em Hell bud!

Actually, your argument about freedom of speech and The Bill Of Rights
doesn't apply in this situation since this is a private e-mail list. Most
people haven't actually read The Bill Of Rights and don't understand what
it really says. The Bill Of Rights only applies to the U.S. government
not enacting any laws that would restrict free speech on U.S. soil. For
example, it protects people who want to express their political views
without fear of being arrested. It does not however apply to private
individuals, companies, or organizations from restricting certain speech
on their property, in their publications or while using their electronic
services. If you go into a restaurant or a store or any sort of business
and start exercising your "free speech" by preaching or cursing or
whatever and the property owner doesn't want you doing that, it is
perfectly legal for them to stop you or remove you or have you arrested if
you won't comply with their rules. The same applies to publications --
newspapers and magazines won't print whatever you want just because you
tell them you want to exercise your "free speech" -- they own the
publications and they decide what does and doesn't get printed. And the
same applies to the Internet. Unless you are solely using a U.S.
government owned server on U.S. government owned web sites with U.S.
government owned e-mail, like at a U.S. college, The Bill Of Rights
doesn't apply. Most every Internet Service Provider is privately owned
and they can restrict what is said or posted on their servers. So what is
allowed to be posted on the jitr@postmodern.com list is at the sole
discretion of postmodern.com and the list owner placed in charge of this
list and they can make whatever rules and/or restrictions that they want
and the law is completely on their side. Sorry.

Hey Johnny and Jumpers,

Excellent message Johnny, I'm sure I could learn a lot from you!! Just a side
thought on freedom......We can CHOOSE to frequent the business the allows the
message to be heard!! I (that means me) CHOOSE to hear it all because I want
to learn from different people and then make up MY mind!! If I don't listen,
how can I make an informed choice!

Cheers,

Ken

i am a cow.
i chew the same cud over and over.
then i swallow it.
and you may think it's gone
but some time later
i will regurgitate
the same slimy ball of muck.
and chew it,
as if the problem can be solved,
all over again,
gnaw, gnaw, gnaw.
moooooooo!
i am a cow!
i don't know any better...
i have no control over my stomachs!
i can't help what i keep puking up!
it tastes fine to me!
gnaw, gnaw, gnaw.
maybe if i swallow it one more time
it will stay down.

ISPs are the equivalent of the phone company - they carry messages and are
privately owned. Can the phone company eavesdrop on our phones and censor
what we say? Or cutoff phone services if they detect messages that advocate
views contrary to the political views of their management? If I email my
friend, does my ISP have the right to print my private postings or sell them
to the National Enquirer? The first amendment is the most complex amendment
and it is hard to generalize or to make blanket statements.

As to what Lion-Cobra was saying about rights - I think he was referring to
inherent and unalienable rights as human beings to participate in a free
society by exchanging and expressing ideas, thoughts, and opinions. These
rights, as Jefferson said, are self-evident. In fact, they were considered so
self-evident, the framers of the Constitution did not enumerate them in the
original Constitution. These rights were later enumerated and added as an
afterthought to assuage the states because they feared the newly created
federal government become an omnipotent behemoth and would encroach upon the
rights of sovereign states and individual citizens.

I nominate Claudia for President...moooooooooooooo!

Quite a stand on censorship there
hmmm ...and yet you would condone the withdrawl of government funding of the
arts based on content you find displeasing...
Would that be censorship or hypocrisy? i sometimes forget..

Hey Jumpers,

Just wondering if anyone knows if Sinead will be on this or not?

KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) - Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu and Aerosmith
frontman Steven Tyler are among the performers whose renditions
of Bob
Marley tunes will be included on a new tribute album. "Bob
Marley:Chant
Down
Babylon" will be released in November, Jamaica's Island Records
said
Wednesday. The album, produced by Marley's son, Stephen, is a
joint effort
with Def Jam Records, a label better known for its hip-hop
acts. The songs
highlight the 1970s hits of Marley, known as "The Gong" in
Jamaica. "We
          hope it
will make an impact in terms of the hip-hop world," Stephen
Marley said. "They
need a spiritual icon like 'The Gong' to get a different
message." Hill, who will
add a bluesy feel to "Turn Your Lights Down Low," is married to
another of
Marley's sons, Rohan. Badu will sing "No More Trouble" and
Tyler will cover
"Roots, Rock, Reggae" from Marley's 1976 breakthrough album,
"Rastaman
         Vibration."

Hey Andre,

That would be neither censorship nor hypocrisy!

You can show whatever art you want to show I have no problem with that BUT when
you use TAX dollars(paid in part by my hard work) to support that art, I really
have no choice!! I just don't have to go see it or pay for the admission! If
you like the art then YOU pay for it out of your own pocket!! Why should I pay
for art I do not like?

All the Best,

Ken

Hey Andre and Jumpers:

Actually I find a lot of this art at the same exhibit interesting!! I
just don't like the Virgin Mary picture with shit all over it!! I
wouldn't like my mother picture to have shit all over it so why would I
like the other!

Just in case your interested.....Here's a person(David Bowie) who is
using his own money to support the exhibit! IMHO That's the way it
should be!

All the best,

Ken

NEW YORK (Billboard) - David Bowie is offering a virtual guided tour of
the controversial
art show "Sensations: Young British Artists From The Saatchi
Collection." The tour, which
features all 141 pieces in the show, takes place on Bowie's Web
site, www.davidbowie.com.
The exhibit premiered online Saturday, the day its physical
counterpart was to open at the
Brooklyn (N.Y.) Museum of Art. The high-profile show, which
comprises pieces from the
private collection of British advertising executive Charles
Saatchi, has turned into a political
hotbed, drawing the ire of New York City mayor Rudy Guiliani. The
mayor, who has
described the exhibit of "sacrilegious" and "offensive," has
threatened to evict the museum and
cut off its municipal funding if the show is not halted. The museum
is suing the city for the right
to proceed with the exhibit - the city has said it will countersue.

The U.S. Senate also voted Thursday to halt federal funding for the
museum unless it cancels
the showing. Among the show's pieces are a frozen rendition of an
artist's head made with
nine pints of his blood; a painting of the Virgin Mary adorned with
elephant dung and pictures
of buttocks cut out of porn magazines; and carcasses of dissected
animals embalmed in
formaldehyde. Bowie's virtual tour - which serves as the official
guide for the exhibit -
provides RealAudio commentary on the pieces in the collection. It
also includes artist
biographies and photos, as well as comments by Bowie. In addition,
the site has a chat area
where exhibit patrons may discuss the art, its meaning and the
controversy surrounding it.

I'm not for removing Lion, but... it's not a matter of freedom of speech;
noone has suggested that Lion be prohibited from opening his own mailing
list and posting his vitriolic prattle there.

Freedom of the press means you can print what you want to print; not
that
I can make you print what I want you to print. Similarly, if the list's
Powers That Be want Lion off the list, Lion should be removed. The only time
this would be a violoation of freedom of speech (in the American view of
the phrase) is if the government was doing the removing.

But as I said, I'm not for removing him; he's annoying but I'd like to believe
he's redeemable. Maybe all my time on Slashdot.org has hardened me to
juvenile
antics like his own.

Hi there,

Although I agree with almost everything you mentioned, I have to add that it
must be _recognized_ that Lion's writings are nothing but absolute
disrespect.

I totally support freedom of speech and believe that any form of cencorship
is bad; but, basically, you have to respect others' feelings and rights to
_deserve_ these things.

Excuse me, but seeing Lion shitting over Bilal or Holli or Marcel or
whomsoever makes me sick in my stomach. So here's my point:

Utter ignorance or removal.

Love and light,

Deniz

What should I do to get into that hate list?

Here is what I think about Lion Cobra:

Lion Cobra has every right to hurt everybody else's feelings.
Lion Cobra has every right to be as nasty as he wishes.
Lion Cobra has every right to mess up with anyone.
Lion Cobra has every right to do what ever he wants.
Lion Cobra never needs to think about other people.
Lion Cobra may live in his own little world.
Lion Cobra may love no other, but himself.

As Lion Cobra says, he has the freedom, like there was no
other people in the world. I hope Lion Cobra finds a world,
which is filled with other Lion Cobras.

Bite me with your venom.

You can't swear, flood and disturb people and still stay in a chat channel,
can you? If you do so, you're either warned, kicked or banned. That clear.

Deniz (Not very serious though; because he knows that seven fools can ask
more of than seventeen wise man can answer! :)

Subject: art & gov't funding(nsc), removing lion cobra

hi everyone
in my opinion, a major problem with gov't funding of the arts is that it
puts the gov't in a no-win situation. by funding some artists or
institutions and not others, the gov't automatically becomes a tool of
censorship. if both karen finley and kenny scharf apply for a grant, but
only ms. finley gets one, isn't the gov't, in effect, "censoring" mr.
scharf? why should the gov't pick and choose which art is worthy of
support? a broader issue concerns the basis for subsidizing artists over
other professions. in new york, some housing subsidies are set aside
exclusively for artists, under the flawed theory that artists are somehow
more important to new york than others. why aren't other low income
professions(teachers, social workers, seamstresses) afforded the same
courtesy? and how to determine who is an artist?
on another topic, i must say that i am completely against removing lion from
the list. removing him would certainly be within the rights of those who
control the list. even a broad reading of "freedom of speech" as an
inalienable human right(not as a right given us by the us constitution)
would not require that he be given a forum by others, in this case the jitr
list. however, removing him would accomplish very little. if you don't
want to read his postings, delete them. if you want to respond to them,
email him privately.
just some random thoughts,
ben

Just a thought to ponder.... KEN FOR PRES!!!

Well, i would like to add a new spin, news pin, or new s pin to the issue.
It seems that many or most of us admire sinead for her talents and ability
to convey emotion feeling and whatever she wants through her music.
Inseperably, what comes along with that is her persona, character, history,
antics, biting, and her ability to start a psycho-social fire on babylon
with relatively little effort. She can do it, its her! Precisely why lion
likes her, they have that in common; and for that i think he deserves some
credit. One big difference is listers seem to take it personally, but if he
had a heavenly voice, gobbs of singles, and was a complete knockout, i think
there would be a list for him too, and many here would be there too. :)
