Hello jitr, and especially Päivi

Did you see that Peter Gabriel special from channel 3?
I catched only the end of it. Was there anything else
about Sinead but the Be Still video clip and Blood Of Eden??

That´s all I got to say, sorry to everybody else.

jitr pple -- or whoever's listening,

since all’s quiet "in the fields of the lord," here's some trivia for those
still around.

amazon.com did a Q&A with the inimitable liz phair (she of the exile in
guyville fame), and she was asked what her "all-time favorite song" is. her
answer: "Sinead O'Connor's Nothing Compares 2 U."

that's all.

kai chai.

ps. well, something else. the album liz phair would rescue first from a
burning house is katell keineg's _jet_. a great album by another celtic
singer, who is, btw, thanked in sinead's liner notes for _am i not your
girl?_.

Hi all,

According to my cd store Chiquitta has been released in Holland as a two
track cd single.
He did not have it yet but it was on order.

Another news, her collaboration with faithless has been canceled for the
time being as Sinead's management had some troubles with this collaboration.
First there will be a cd from faithless with other artists. Maybe a next cd
will feature Sinead's.
I do not know any more news.

Eduard

Fellow Sinead-a-holics,

I have a single with sinead on 2 of the four tracks.
It is in excellent condition and has a blue card board jacket. On the back
is a picture of the ocean waves crashing (if i remember correctly) and the
front is like the album cover - only blue and white. I think she is on
"Blue" and "Guide me God." The cardboard jacket comes in a thick,
glossy-clear plastic envelope-like case.

For those interrested, please Email ME back with a bid excluding postage.
Postage will be 3$ anywhere.

I will respond in a week or so when all have a chance to check their mail.

Thanks,
Jay

:)

Anyone know if this has been released in the US?

That is just too damn bad. I've been so excited about this
particular collaboration.

Hi all,

I can't believe I'm going to write, let alone post this. Things have
been so quiet on the list that I thought I may as well write this out,
if only to fill some-what empty-ish jitr inboxes.

I had a dream you see, involving Sinéad. If you're not into hearing
about dreams, delete now before I bore the pants off you.

OK....

In my dream, I got a flyer in the mail advertising a fair near my house
(Sarah, remember Freemont Park?) This park occasionally has little
fairs and stuff, mainly family events for kids. I was about to toss the
flyer away, when I opened it and saw that some artists were playing and
then I saw Sinéad's name. Needless to say, I went.

Skip through lots of unrelated bizarre dream type nonsense, to the part
where I met Sinéad.....

For some reason, there was a mansion type house on the grounds and lots
of people milling about, so I walked around aimlessly, wondering where
Sinéad was performing. I walked through a gate into the gardens and
there was a swimming pool with loads of people splashing around, sitting
drinking and just generally having fun. I knew this must be one of
those roadie-groupie-before-the-show parties and so was about to turn to
leave before I was kicked out, but I nervously glanced around first to
see if Sinéad was there.

She was and she saw me and motioned me over. I was with my husband and
grabbed him saying, "Fuck, we forgot the camera. Why do we always
forget the camera?" Sinéad laughed at that comment and said hi and
asked if we would we care to stay? My husband said sure, adding that he
did have our camera and did she mind a photo being taken? I thought
she'd tell us to leave then, as we were acting like idiots. Sinéad was
laughing though and started hamming it up and striking silly poses.
Although I hate pool parties, I wasn't about to miss being there with
Sinéad there.

So, as corny and cliché as it sounds, we stayed and ended up swimming
with her and she kept asking for more pics to be taken. She was acting
manic and the others there with her were telling us that Sinéad was
usually this manic before shows and that it was ok; not to worry about
it.

She asked to see the photos taken. We have a digital camera that has
the option of viewing the pictures taken, on a screen at the back of the
camera. She was upset at seeing her photos as she said she looked "too
skinny" She became quiet and distant then and I asked her if she wanted
us to erase the pictures. She said no, but asked to see them again.
She'd had us all (the entire group of people, including me and my
partner) pose with her and had been acting so outrageously. But when
she saw the photos again, she said she'd never dress in a bikini anymore
because she didn't realize she'd lost so much weight and seemed
concerned for herself.

Anyhow, I can't remember much more about that part. There was more of
the usual bizarre dream sequence stuff for a while.

Skip ahead to the part where she talks about Ben (hi Ben; if you're
reading, you're probably wondering what the heck you were doing in my
dream huh?) Anyhow, Sinéad asked me to take a photo of herself with my
husband. She seemed obsessed with getting photos taken, so she grabbed
him around the waist and started acting really sweet and silly. She
then said, "I met this guy called Ben once and had my arm around him.
He's a big fan of mine" I told her I had seen that pic through jitr and
started asking her if she knew of the jitr mailing list and of
home-pages like Roman & Marcel's, Bruno's and Lion Cobra's? She said
she did know and thought they were great. Gave you all some free
advertising guys, albeit it in a dream!

Ok, so the next part you guys aren't going to hear about. Being a
bi-sexual in a hetero marriage doesn't mean certain aspects of your
sexuality cease to exist. Next part of my dream is private, HA! I love
dreams sometimes ;-)

Skip again to us sitting outside, I think we were having breakfast or
something. Not sure. (I still cannot believe I am telling you all this
dream)

A van pulled up and a woman got out, whom I didn't recognize and she
started getting nasty at Sinéad for missing a rehearsal. Sinéad looked
over at us and introduced me and my hubby. Apparently, she was a
singer, although I hadn't heard of her. She became more impatient and
motioned over at the van, saying, "The screaming Orphans are getting hot
in there" (I'm cracking up as I write...this is so bizarre.) I looked
at the van and it was filled with a bunch of little kids, all of them
looking hot and bothered. I told the woman to get the kids out of the
car, as they needed some water and fresh air.

About 30 little kids trooped out; all dressed up like something out of
The Sound of Music. I asked who they were and Sinéad said, "We swapped
the regular Screaming Orphans for these children. My manager said now
that I'm a Priest, I should be charitable and use children in my act" I
looked at her, waiting for her to say she was joking, but she was
serious. I looked over at the kids and she assured me they really were
excellent back-up vocalists. I was upset at her then for exploiting
those kids and she got defensive.

The woman again told her she was needed at rehearsals, so Sinéad asked
us if we'd like to come. Of course we did, so we agreed. She said they
were working on a new album and that we could hang around for the three
or so days that they were going to be recording.

That's it. The alarm woke me up, sounds cliché again I know; but it
did. I hit the snooze button hoping to fall asleep again and dream the
recording of her new album but I dreamed about something else instead.
Bummer...

Delete! Sorry I haven't any "real" Sinéad news, but oh well...

Regards,
Maria

This totally made my day! I've had lots (repeat, lots) of dreams about
Sinead, but I've never had someone else dream of Sinead and me!!! (Maybe
it's a sign??) A couple times I've wondered if she really would remember
meeting me, but then I think about how famous she is and how many people
must come up to her saying the exact same things as I did... and it makes
me sad, because I don't think she could have realized in those few
moments how much influence she's had on my life. I'm not just a "fan"
who likes the sound of her songs--I feel inspired by her courage and
honesty and complex character... which is how I think most people on this
list feel about her. I don't know exactly where I'm going with this, so
I'll end it now. Thanks for sharing, Maria!

I got the CD 'Across The Bridge' this week and was curious to hear
Sinead sing Chiquitita..........it is beautiful! What a magical voice,
and the way she does it brings out the meaning of the lyrics so well. It
was really moving. Good on you Sinead for contributing to the cause of
the Omagh victims, too.
Greetings folks.

HI jumpers.

Now i am listening on a radio station an orchestration of many songs
from gospel oak, (in fact, 4mylove, and i am enough for myself) as well
as from other irish / celtic musicians. Now they are playin u2's "i
still haven't found..." It is really nice to hear. No one have an idea
from which album is this? This radio station have no announcer or even
commercial brakes (this things can only happend here, in uruguay).

if anyone have an idea, please, let me know.

I think i was not very clear. I know where +ACI-i still haven't found...+ACI- it
is from.
I was telling that i was hearing an orchestration performance of those
songs, (sinead's and other irish musicians). NO LYRICS. Just orchest
arrangements. THAT was really nice to hear... I was asking if anyone
have an idea from wich album THIS orchestration perfomance could it be.

just this,

Ken will be back tomorrow, if I remember correctly.

Jara's not too different from Jared, which is very common here in the US.
I think Jara is a very pretty name. So is Sinead. : )

Speaking of odd names, you're the only "Lion" I've ever heard of (unless
you want to include Lion el Richie. : ) : )

First of all, congratulations to Marcel and girlfriend and Jara.

Second, I just finished listening to UM from beginning to end, something I
haven't done in some time, and a gorgeous little piece of genius made
itself apparent to me. In John I Love You, she sings, "Will you wait for
me till I'm heavenly." In In This Heart, it is almost as though another
voice is responding to this earlier plea with, "I am waiting for you, and,
"There are rays on the weather." It is as if this voice is saying, "I'm
waiting for you, but it won't be long, because you are nearly heavenly as
there are already rays (from heaven) breaking through the clouds."

Just a thought.

Christian

Hi,
Yesterday I received my long-awaited "Famine" CD single (as well as My
Special Child - I know, I'm so lucky!). There's a URL in it which reads:
http://www.sunbather.com/sinead/
This address doesn't seem to work any longer, so if anyone checked it out
back then, can you tell me what it was like?
With love,
Deniz

Everytime I checked it was 'under construction'. There was a picture of
Sinead next to the (not functioning) link.

Hi All,

I haven't really read any of my messages yet but I can't wait to catch =
up on all the Sinead gossip! Anyway, I had a great time in Ireland but =
unfortunately no Sinead sightings! I did go to County Offaly to see if =
I could get into Mass on Sunday with Mother B but she was not there! I =
did see the church and I talked to one person who was very upset with =
all the Mother B controversy so I did not really push my luck.

I went into the Hot Press Irish Music Hall of Fame and saw all the =
Mother B stuff. They had cool lyric sheets and hand written notes from =
her!! It was very exciting! Even though you were not allowed to take =
pictures, I did, so as soon as they are developed I will send them to =
Roman for posting if he is okay with that(Roman?)!! I also ate in The =
Bad Ass Cafe where Mother B was a waitress so I have a few pictures of =
that also! No new Mother B items! I checked all the REM bootlegs which =
there was many of but I could not find the bootleg with the cover of =
"The Last Day of Our Acquaintance".

I will be announcing the winner of the contest for CD single later so =
stay tuned!

All the Best,

Ken

Hi,
Recently I've been thinking and guessing on how much Sinead's sales for each
album might be. I read in Q that her total sales was something like 16
millions but I'm particularly wondering about her new works, especially
Gospel Oak. Any ideas?
Love and light,
Deniz
PS. I don't really care about how much her albums are sold, but I'm just
wondering how many people related themselves to her music.

hi jitr pple,

just bought Q july issue and they're having a Q readers poll on the 100
greatest music stars of the 20th century. please, fellow folks with
impeccable taste, quick vote for our darling sinead. not sure whether the
poll's open to non-UK residents, but hey, the point here is not to win the
booty, but to make sure sinead gets into the esteemed gallery.

you can buy a copy of Q (corrs on cover) and turn to page 31 for the contest
page, or just simply follow the following instructions. remember -- you have
to vote for individual persons, not groups/bands (eg. john lennon or Ringo
(or both, separately) but not the beatles):

<Choose the five figures from the rich dramatis personae of music that means
the most to you. Tell us, briefly but thoughtfully, why they're great. Fill
in your personal details thoroughly and you could win a magnificent prize --
the greatest recorded moments of the 100 greatest stars -- courtesy of
Virgin Megastores.

Vote Here...

so, folks, whatcha waiting for? start snail-mail, fax or e-mail them now!
show our unfailing support for sinead's stupendous music.... good luck!

cheers,

ps.
you can also flip to page 89 to see a small pic of sinead hilariously
grafted onto the infamous picture of clinton hugging monica lewinsky in a
two-page spread for the contest promo. Q also quoted sinead in talk of the
town on page 17: "I'm just making sure that people don't get the wrong
idea." -- Sinead O'Connor after being ordained for the second time.

pss. saw the EW music special issue and noticed that sinead did not make it
to the most underrated list -- make amends for yr lackadaisical behaviour
and get sinead onto this Q readers' poll, okay?

jitr pple,

a reader from bath called lucy braine wrote to Q re: sinead versus tabloid
saga as reported in Q june issue. here's the letter:\

<So, Sinead O'Connor has declared war on the tabloids. Good for her... but
hang on, what's this? Less than a month on from her written appeal to Q,
she's "going out" with Mirror hack Neil Michael and 11 "exclusives" have
emerged in the newspaper with an ostensibly supportive -- but ultimately
demeaning and patronising -- tone. And as for her "ordaining" as a faux
priest: 1) why is she going back to the bosom of a church that has so
obviously helped fuck her up, and 2) wouldn't a more thoughful (rather than
careerist) boyfriend have tried to hush this madness up rather than trumpet
it in ink?
The tabloids have wilfully miscontrued aspects of Sinead's behaviour this
spring (the Concert for Linda "outburst" was nothing of the kind), but is
Sinead helping herself here? Why not shut the fuck up and, for Christ's
sake, don't shag any of the bastards. One can only ask, with even her lover
batting for the other side, who can possibly help her now?
Lucy Braine, Bath>

what do you guys think?

kai chai.

was doing my spring cleaning and saw a may 1994 issue of VOX which had a 25
years of chrysalis supplement, and guess what, there's a Q&A with sinead's
scribblings on it. here's the text:

1. What did you do to celebrate your signing to Chrysalis?
I bought myself lots of food
And some thigh boots
And loads of make-up
And a sexy dress
And a guitar and a keyboard and a mike and a four track

2. How much was your first pay cheque?
13.07 pounds, I have it in my scrapbook. I never cashed it. It was actually
from Island Records. [my guess is that it's for her work with the edge for
'heroine' -- kai chai]

3. What was the the first record you liberated from the Chysalis cupboard?
Van Morrisson's Meet Me in the Summertine

4. What other label artists would you most like to record with, and which
tracks?
I couldn't tell you who else is on the label actually.

5. What's the best advice Chrysalis ever gave you?
Not to do the press conference that nearly happened in London over the Pope
thing

6. And what was their worst mistake?
I couldn't say they've really made any. I've found them very supportive of
nme, both as an artist and as a human being, although Nigel Grainge once
said that I Do Not Want... would end up on the floor of the warehouse
because it was "too personal" BIG MISTAKE!!! And -- signing me up for 7
POINTS!!!

that's all, for now.

congrats marcel, and happy b-day, eduard.

kai chai.

Hi all. Found these for sell on action-records site:

Video looks neat, but I'm sure it's in European PAL format, so no good
to me. And I can't really afford to import a promo of a cd I've already
got, but if any of you are interested, these look sorta neat.

Hello all,

I have a question for you regarding the wonderful song This Is To Mother
You. Though this song elates me like almost no other, I nevertheless
consistently feel uneasy when Sinead sings:

for when you need me I will do
what your own mother didn't do
which is to mother you.

My unease stems from the fact that my own mom has proved to be an amazing
mother. Considering my mom's sacrifices for me, I feel slightly
hypocritical when being consoled by this song, and by the above lyric
specifically. This squeamishness was present in my gut reaction to my
initial listenings and remains still.

I was wondering if some of you similarly have moments of misgiving when you
hear the above line.

Thanks

Bilal

Bilal -- good point. Actually, I've been to a number of weddings lately (I'm
at that age apparently where all my friends get married), and it's gotten me to
think about possible songs to use in weddings. I was thinking that "This is to
mother you" would actually be a pretty good mother-son type of dance. (not
that I'm even remotely close to getting married, but I still like to think
about what songs I'll use)

Then I re-listened to it for the first time in a few months. That line really
eliminated the possibility of using it, plus it really goes against the
lullaby-like tone of the song. I still think it's a beautiful recording,
though... I just can't personally relate to it as much.

(Hi all)
....but she's not talking to us!
she's talking to herself! I know this for real because she confessed it in
an italian interview.
That song is not only for her daughter it is also a way to talk to her own
mother who didn't "mother her" as mothers should do.
In this song she always changed the point of view (first She as a mother
then as a daughter)
This is to mother you is another example of the ability of Sinead in writing
lyrics (Though I think This is a rebel song has the best lyrics, and also A
perfect indian).
A good voice is not enough to be a great artist (Dolores, Alanis,Natalie are
you there?)
and Sinead knows it very well

Ciao

Hi Jitr,

Songs can mean millions of things to millions of people. We all walk in
different shoes, so I can understand that not every song that you hear is
going to relate to you specifically, and I can understand that if you
haven't had certain experiences you would not relate to this song...
Just on the other side of the coin, I can relate to it very much, it is very
therapeutic and helpful. My mother is the primary source of my abuse.
It's okay that you feel you can't relate on a personal level. In fact, I am
happy that you cannot and don't live with this particular pain. I hope that
you find comfort in some other song, which I am sure you do....

Love, Peace and Harmony,

Holli

Bilal -- good point. Actually, I've been to a number of weddings lately
(I'm
at that age apparently where all my friends get married), and it's gotten me
to
think about possible songs to use in weddings. I was thinking that "This is
to
mother you" would actually be a pretty good mother-son type of dance. (not
that I'm even remotely close to getting married, but I still like to think
about what songs I'll use)

Then I re-listened to it for the first time in a few months. That line
really
eliminated the possibility of using it, plus it really goes against the
lullaby-like tone of the song. I still think it's a beautiful recording,
though... I just can't personally relate to it as much.

I just heard this song on vh1 called "Bad Girl" it was
by madonna....Does anyone think that this could be the
song that is on sinead's next album?....the song is
from madonna's erotica album.

P.S. "Bad Girl" was the song that madonna sang before
tearing up a picture of James Belushi on SNL and
shouting "Fight the real enemy!!!"

They will carry you up in their arms

Heeello! (by the way, I have this habit to use Sin=E9ad's stuff for the =
title....I hope it's fine.)

A couple of people had some questions about the contest.

I will "draw from the hat" like others did. I'm gonna do it saturday(you =
can enter until friday)
and give the name monday(don't have access to my pc in the weekends).
Also, don't forget that it's not Never get old live(even if it's what's =
stated on the pocket)but Jerusalem.

For the Bruno message, it's because we know eachother too and something =
like a year ago I had offer him the same vinyl.(well not the same same =
there, this one is bought a month ago)
I already knew he could speak-write french!!!

An other thing I forgot in my last e-mail is Big congratulations to =
Mars-L and his girlfriend for their little girl.It is a beautiful name, =
very original and sweet.(I know, I'm very late-sooooorry)

Don't forget to e-mail me about the rare song !!!

As for me I can say that i have had an undesirable mother-son relationship.
This song touches me, partly because of that. my mother wasnt and isnt
there for us. her life has been more important. yes, i have for given her.
it would have been heavenly to have it right. now i am grown and we shall
see what happens. but i like that like. it comforts those who have been
hurt by their mothers. i believe that was her intention in writing.
