Hi
I called East West Records here in London to try and find out when their
album will see a US release...no joy I'm afraid. Your best bet is to
try Atlantic Records press office and/or website.
Hope this helps...

There might be some more cd's (like world-party, the Help cd, Two rooms,
Rick Wright, Glory of Gershwin) were sinead's on, in our normal cd stores.
E-mail me privatley if you want me to buy some (or one) cd for you.

hi kids---

i was really worried about these FLEADH shows based on the other reviews i was
reading...the horror of crowds generally guides me away from big festivals
like this, but i have to say our experience was entirely pleasant overall.

we arrived early & staked out a spot on the lawn after we squished up front to
see billy bragg open the show. i haven't seen him for a few years but he was
cool as ever ("mixing pop & politics, he asks me what the use is, i offer him
embarrassment & my usual excuses") bands & singers in the US are usually so
apolitical...i DIG the wee bit of education mr billy provided, talkin about
longshoremen in SF supporting the liverpool dockworkers' strike & so on. (i
already knew this but most slack-jawed yokels at the show were unaware.)

we sat thru almost every performer on the main stage until 4:30 or so when we
bailed on WILCO to go to the 2nd stage to see (guitar hero) richard thompson.
then back to our blankie in the hot hot sun to wait for sinead.

CHUMBAWUMBA, who played just before her, were quite good. i really HATE that
tubthumping song but the rest of the set was enjoyable. i was surprised they
make such a production of it w/costume changes & such but it was definitely
good fun, also with political commentary and that anarchist taking turns thing
all worked out between them.

the sun went down & we pulled on long pants & jackets & such & just as dark
was approaching SINEAD came on.

we were nowhere NEAR as close as at lilith, about 2/3 of the way back toward
the sound booth and to the right but not far from center. not bad really, but
i forgot my GLASSES and i had to squint & details weren't as clear as i'd
like. SINEAD WORE: loose pants with big pockets in a dark color and a zippered
sweater looking top. i couldn't see her shoes & didn't notice nail polish or
not & she hadn't much, if any, make-up on i don't think.

here's the set list:

emporer's new clothes
thief of your heart
stretched on your grave
*factory girl????
NC2U
thank you for hearing me
in this heart
fire on babylon
last day of our acquaintance

encore:
she moved thru the fair

when she introduced what i think was "factory girl" she said "change of
plans. we're going to do a little irish song cos we don't get no other
chance." the song begins, "as i went walking one summer morning..."

when she introduced NC2U she said "anyone who knows this must sing along or
you will be killt" in a strange fake nazi from a movie accent. but then the
way she sang it was truly beautiful & evocative this night. maybe it seemed
crap at lilith because it was hurried and embarrassed at the end of the set,
but this was just lovely. people did the aaah ahhhs and she was laughing but
still singing with feeling.

she made the same comment "if you must sing, sing an irish song" that i've
seen posted.

she came back out to sing "she moved thru the fair" (first encore of the day)
and i had to tell some yapping frat boys near my ear to shut up till the song
was over. the crowd was at a pretty comfortable distance until it was sinead's
turn to play & everyone gathered in. we were COMPLETELY bummed that X was
playing at the exact same time as sinead. not only did we wanna see them,
their set was so loud it was kinda distracting during sinead's. DOH! also, it
was good to be standing & dancing this time, which would've felt weird at
lilith, when she OPENED. overall the fleadh was good fer me, i didn't have to
wait in long lines for beer or water or toilets (tho i did spend $25 on
BEVERAGES only---wot ROBBERY!) i felt sorry for tracy chapstick who was
playing AFTER sinead, it looked like she was gonna be singing to a lot of
waterbottles & trash. many many people bailed after sinead, she was the real
headliner. shane macgowan was headlining on the second stage after her but we
were beat & he was probably smashed, so we went home.

in the SF EXAMINER yesterday (tues june 30) there was a small photo of sinead
laughing on the front page with a by-line that said there was a fleadh review
inside. in the entertainment section was a HUGE photo of sinead singing, wide
open mouth & hand up, fingers spread. the review mentions her set toward the
end but hadn't much to say other than her voice soared as the temperature
plummetted and she did hits and irish songs. regardless, she was obviously the
star.

thus concludes my summer's entertainment budget!

cheers ---claudia

Is this Tracy Chapman? Wow, a Sinead/Tracy double bill? My second favorite
artist followed by my favorite. That would be a dream come true. If anyone
left before Tracy came on, then the value of their ignorance cannot be
underestimated. I think it probably had to do more with the falling temps and
late hour (also, I've heard severely opposite reviews on the Tracy list, who
say that she perked up the crowd and was the real star). Regardless, you're
very luck to have seen both of them. And please don't call her chapstick...
she's the greatest artist of our time.

Hello,

To clear something; The album by Ghostland doesn't have any title besides
just Ghostland. In a working stadium the album was titled "Seven Arrows"
and some promos had that name on it but for several reasons they left this
title.

I don't know the reasons, that wasn't told to me by the record company.

DOES ANYONE ALREADY HAVE A RECORDING OF A CONCERT !!!!!!!!!!!!??????????

electronica", with sinead's swooping, irish wallop of a voice wafting
above the sea of multitextured electronic thingamajigs. all her vocal
talents are out in full force: whispery vocals which effortlessly rise
to a commanding howl after the bridge. it is basically a ballad, with
sinead pining for a lover, as she keeps chanting, "i can't wait till
summer's end." if you need a point of reference, it would be something
like what's she's been doing with bomb the bass....

sorry, i haven't heard "emma's song" though. another thing:
surprisingly, "summers end" -- yes, no apostrophe -- is credited to
sinead only.

kai chai.

ps. i'll be leaving for detroit this sunday to watch sinead et al at the
lilith fair the following mon & tues (6 & 7 july). hopefully, i'll be
able to get to a cybercafe & mail you folks a concert review...

There was no release date know, only 'this summer'.

ps. Kay Chai, have a good time there, I envy you on your sinead

Hello,

For the people interested in MP3 files and/or rare Sinead songs;
Coming days/weeks you will find some really rare songs in MP3 format (HIGH
QUALITY, SO; BIG FILES) on the next page. The MP3 files come and will
disappear every moment (daily ones or twice) to make place for others, I
won't announce them. They come and go, that simple is it. keep checking the
page, if you check at daytime you mostly will find new ones every day,
because I mostly will change them at night (phone-costs)

http://www.telebyte.nl/~bobbink/suprise.htm

(this is not linked on the Sinead page !!!!!!!)

You will find the really rare ones there !!!!!!!

"Take My Hand" was there yesterday
today there are "Mandinka 7 inch edit" and "Mandinka Extended Remix" ONLY
AVAILABLE ON RARE PROMO VINYL 12 INCH. Tomorrow there will be "Mandinka Dub
version" also only on this rare 12" promo available. Others you have to
find out yourself. (In total there will be about 40 songs including rare
live ones like War, Factory Girl, The Big Music, Beautiful Bundoran and
much more)
If you like them just send me a mail to let me know. Don't ask for songs!!!
I will only add the songs I already have chosen (and the list is already
made, and no song will be added!!!!!)

HERE'S THE ADDRESS;

http://www.telebyte.nl/~bobbink/suprise.htm

If you cannot download the files (most around 5MB) or if they don't play;
BAD LUCK !!!!!!
Sorry can't and won't do a thing about it......sorry

Hi Gang!

Guess What!!!???

Run out and get the latest copy of Spin. There's a 2 page interview
with you know who. It's titled 'Sinead O'Connor Not A Bad Bastard
Anymore'. There are 3 really good pictures of her also. I thought it
was a really good article although Chris Stein seemed to be provoking
her toward the end. Let me know what you think.

Peace.

I'm also looking to trade for other Sinead audio and video tapes
(especially recent live recordings and European TV appearances). Have lots
in return.

Hello,

Sorry but I've found a faster way to get the MP3 files where I want them to
be.

Now I can send them by E-mail (gave problems earlier).
If you want to receive them send me a mail. But be warned in that case you
will get them all (in total 55), and I have already made my choices which
ones (90% of the are rare ones).
And they're all big, so you will probably receive about 10MB per day for
several weeks at a row in that case !!!
With 33k6 that lasts AT LEAST one full hour (if the connection to your
mailserver is superb).

So infact this is only attractive if you have a costless connection (not
depending on time) like a TV-cable or electricity-cable connection, or
(what's pretty normal in the USA) a free local phone line, an ISDN
connection is good also though that already costs. Or you simply must be a
big fan and think it's worth the phone costs.

The songs that will be send are these spread over several weeks!!!;

I know this has been covered 1,000 times, but could someone give me a quick
answer to this...

What is this song? I have the Haunted CD single that has Sinead singing on
Haunted, and The Song with No name is on there as well...but I don't hear
Sinead, just Shane. Where's the version of The Song With...that has Sinead?
I have a feeling this was a live only version....

Hello, Hello,

This is about the first half of the article. It is getting late here and
I would like to finish it for you tonight, but I have to get up early in
the morning and go to work, so I will finish typing it tomorrow.
It was written by Chris Norris
I have abbreviated little parts that most of us should know, but if the
article
gets
put on the webpage, maybe they should be expanded for the benefit of those
who might not know what they mean.

There are also some good pictures, and maybe someone with a scanner might
pick up the magazine and send the pictures to Roman for his page. If not,
I might be able to con some of my friends into doing it.

Going to sleep now......

Sinead O'Connor Not a Bad Bastard Anymore

"So you're not to make me out to be a really horrible person,"
says Sinead O'Connor. She cocks her head and squints at me, shading her
eyes with one hand.
Ambling along the embankment of a London canal, Sinead O'Connor is
a delicate-looking five-foot-four in blue Adidas sandals. She has just
spent the past three hours sharing her thoughts on Biggie Smalls,
Teletubbies, and the Northern Ireland peace accord, yet she looks like a
child on a field trip----a child with one of the most riveting voices in
modern music. Calling her horrible would be like stomping on one of the
goslings that are paddling in the water nearby.
Yet the woman knows her rep. "I'm sure you've had the odd tantrum
or screamed at people or done things that you wish you hadn't," she says.
"At the end of the day I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. Because
I'm not gonna say, 'Yeah, you're all right, I'm a complete wanker.' I
have to defend myself, even if I might not want to."
She pulls a Silk Cut cigarette from behind her ear. "No one's
perfect," she says, lighting up. "I mean, I didn't kill anyone. Which is
a miracle."
When's the last time you felt like killing?
	"Last Thursday."

8 years ago, Sinead pioneered a classic album-opening device. It
was a tense, cinematic sort of mise en scene that would become a staple of
a particular genre. It involved ominous HBO strings, a reverbed
voice-over, and an air of chilling, before-the-storm intensity. "God
grant me the serenity" she intoned-it was the Serenity Prayer-but anthing
from a warrior's oath to a pact with the Devil would have fit the form
just as well. In short, O'Connor began IDNWWIHG in high gangsta fashion.
Which, in retrospect, was just about perfect.
In the next five years, O'Connor came to be known as a gangsta
bitch supreme. She commanded as much tabloid space as Tupac and as many
foes as Suge Knight. A Pope-shredding, Grammy-snubbing, anthem-boycotting
drama queen, she pinballed from one public controversy to another, mixing
political pronouncements with hissy fits. She overdosed on sleeping
pills. She retired from pop to study opera. She got booed offstage at
Madison Square Garden. If one is to be judged by the quality of one's
enemies, O'Connor was formidable indeed: No less a personage than Sinatra
said she deserved "a kick in the ass".
"Here was this incredibly talented woman who was inevitably going
to ruin her career and there was nothing I could do to stop it," remembers
RCA Vice President Elaine Schock, O'Connor's publicist at the time.
"After the Pope thing, she said to me, 'Don't get me out of this one.'
And I was like, 'As if I can.'"
Then, after this run of refusenik stunts, O'Connor committed an
even more venal sin: She bacame a hippie. By the mid-'90's, she had
begun a journey into the sort of earth-mother mysticism that frank-talking
rock women like Liz Phair and Courtney Love would soon render spacey and
anachronistic. After briefly hypnotizing audiences from the main stage of
'95's Lollapalooza, O'Connor quit the tour due to pregnancy. And then,
shunned by radio and less than a priority for her soon-to-implode label
EMI, she receded into the woodwork---little more than a perplexing memory
to a new generation of Spice Girls.
Throughout all this, the singer who began her pop career at 16 was
also learning how to be an actual person---raising a son, bearing a
daughter, and healing some truly horrific childhood wounds. Reared in a
family of 8, O'Connor had been beaten regularly by her now-deceased
mother, shuttled to different homes, and forced into reform school at age
14. Her singing, she says, is what saved her life. It's also what makes
all the drama matter. The pop memory is a short one and, as the recently
departed Ol' Blue Eyes knew full well, there are second acts in American
lives. O'Connor is remarkably well-poised to begin hers.
By way of a reintroduction, O'Connor is performing in 3 of this
summer's Guinness-sponsored Fleadh festivals and , significantly, as a
main-stage act with the all-woman musicfest, Lilith Fair. Taking the
stage with the likes of Sheryl Crow, Missy Elliott, and Bonnie Raitt, she
will be rejoining the center of pop music's female pantheon. "I want to
be part of the mainstream without changing my personality," she says.
Happy to oblige, Atlantic Records has signed O'Connor to an
eyebrow-raising $8 million, 3 album contract. "If you listen to GO, you
know that great work is still to come from her," says Atlantic VP and GM
Ron Shapiro, who signed O'Connor. "There is so much in her voice and her
message for millions of fans she doesn't yet have."
In the meantime, O'Connor made another minor but note-perfect
reemergence into the public consciousness---as, naturally, the Virgin
Mary. In Jordan's film the BB, O'Connor played a foul-mouthed,
apparitional Blessed Mother who manifests periodically to soothe the
film's troubled young protagonist Francie Brady. O'Connor relished
playing out what she calls every Irish girl's fantasy. ("I tried to make
love with the Mary outfit on," she says. "But I just couldn't do it.")
But she identified just as much with the film's main character---a
battered, self-loathing child who yearns to receive his "Francis Brady Not
a Bad Bastard Anymore Certificate."
"He was definitely somebody who was not understood and who
therefore careened and careened and careened because he thought he was a
piece of shit," says O'Connor. "I know what that's like. I wanted the
world to think of me as valuable and useful and worthwhile person, because
I had thought I was absolutely worthless. I hope I'm gonna earn my Sinead
O'Connor Not a Bad Bastard Anymore Certificate."

Hello jitr people,

The waterboys have released a new double live cd completely recorded in 1986.
Now as you all now Sinead sang a few times in 1986 with them (like songs as
the big music and savage earth heart)(I've got an audio tape from this
dating 11 April 1986).
But unfortunately, the live tracks they used for the cd does NOT contain
the backing vocals of Sinead.

Last night at the Columbus Ohio Lilith Fair I snuck up to the 5th row center
for Sinead O'Connor. She was incredible. I was so happy that she played "You
Made Me the Thief of Your Heart." It was incredible. And for "In This Heart"
she had all 7 band members come out at different parts of the song to join
her. It was incredible. She ended with "The last day of our acquaintance" and
the two Indigo Girls sang with her. After the concert, because I am familiar
with the stage layout, my friends and I snuck backstage. I saw John Reynolds
walk out of one of the busses so I knew that was Sineads. I looked into the
front window to see her in there. I pointed to my Sinead T-shirt that I
bought. I held up my CD covers and I smiled at her. She was so incredibly
friendly. She walked up to the bus driver and told him to wait a second. She
got out of the bus and signed all of my Sinead covers. I was so nervous I
think I thanked her 1000 times. I thanked her for playing "Thief of your
heart" and I apologized for thanking her so much. That's not all that was
discussed but that is sure the bulk of it. I guess she was in a hurry so she
didn't have time to stay and let me get my nervous chills out. She gave me the
cutest, nicest smile after she was done signing my CD covers before she got
back into the bus. This smile was a real smile. It wasn't just smile to make
her fan happy, it was a smile that said "thank you for being my fan." The fact
that she stopped the bus to come out and see me was a "thank you for being my
fan." THANK YOU SINEAD for such a beautiful performance and for being
incredibly kind to one of your many fans.

Does anyone have a video taape of all of Sinead's videos. Some of her
videos were barely played on MTV and I would love to get a hold of them.
Also, does anyone have a tape of her concert at San Diego on June 23rd.

		Thanks - Steve

Okay, here's the rest...Roman, I will work on somehow getting the pictures
to you, but right now I can't promise anything as I am at the mercy of the
goodwill of my friends to accomplish this.

On a brilliant May day in London, newspapers trumpet the Sinn
Fein's historic vote to abandon force in Northern Ireland. Sinead's home
city of 13 years seems alive with hope, prosperity, and young people
talking on cell phones. We convene near O'Connor's recently adopted
neighborhood of Gospel Oak, home to her Freudian analyst and a safe haven
for child-rearing. For O'Connor, the phrase "Gospel Oak" has come to
symbolize a new life.
"I'm changing in that I no longer desire to have the shit kicked
out of me," she says, scratching the front of her head. Newly
self-coiffed----having buzzed herself with a beard trimmer---O'Connor
looks just as arresting as she did on the cover of her 1987 debut TLATC.
The main difference being that the scrawled reminder on her hand now is
for "Phenergan"---a prescription for her sniffling kids-rather than for
"Purse" and the London street guide "A-Z," as sported on her first album.
Also, she now wears a tiny stud in her left nostril and a wedding ring.
"I'm not quite married, but I may as well be," she says. Her
boyfriend, 34-year-old TV ad composer John Robertson, is closer to her age
than were any of O'Connor's earlier paramours, who have included older
managers, tourmates, sidemen, journalists, and Peter Gabriel. "I like
gentlemen," she says. "I like three-piece suits and kindness and
gentleness. I tend to get crushes on men who are very kind to me." She
laughs. "[John and I] have been going out for about a year, which is
longer than I've gone out with anyone."
In addition to newfound stability, much of O'Connor's recent
happiness also came with the folding of her label, EMI. A free agent for
the first time in her adult life, the change prompted a reassessment of
just where she fits into modern music.
"Some companies gave me the big lecture, like, 'We think you
should go back to being more angry, like your first record,'" she says.
Her then-manager Fachtna O'Ceallaigh was among those pushing her toward
fashionable rage. "He wanted me to be tougher and more hip and make
records with the Fugees," she says. "And that's not really me. When I
made my first couple of records I was that fucking angry, and it was a
very painful place to be. It's cost me a lot of money to get happy. If I
want to write little nanny songs, then that's what I'll do."
This newfound balance suggests a career juncture rather like
Madonna's, another therapized, semi-mystical mom exploring new sonic
spaces. As part of the futruistic supergroup Ashtar Command, O'Connor has
collaborated with Beck and members of Smashing Pumpkins, Filter, and
Yum-Yum, producing music for the soundtrack to The Avengers. For her
upcoming album, she is working with Brian Eno, Dave Stewart, and Massive
Attack producer Cameron McVey. But while she lists everyone from Brandy
to the trad-Irish mystic Noirin Ni Riainas favorites, O'Connor hesitates
to predict what her future music will sound like.
"It's too early to tell," she says. "But what I've always liked
about my records is there's been a schizophrenic diversity in them."
Over the years this diversity has been truly radical---mixing
madrigals, hip-hop, folk, and hard rock in a way that never quite made
sense to radio. This, plus a difficult public persona, has kept
O'Connor's pop presence surprisingly limited for such a powerful voice,
confined mostly to headlines and her cover of Prince's NC2U. Still, her
exuberant Celtic wail and tremulous intensity has influenced a generation
of rock singers. In fact, O'Connor is rather frank about pinpointing her
mark.
"I think Alanis is Sinead O'Connor with hair," says O'Connor,
smiling. "Alanis and the Cranberries, they're kind of well-behaved Sinead
O'Connors."
She doesn't seem entirely amused by this.
"I suppose it bothers me that people like them have sold a lot
more records than I ever sold," she says. "They don't cause trouble and
they play a game. They're not controversial in any way."
Indeed, neither Alanis Morissette nor Dolores O'Riordan seems to
have torn up any Pope photos, boycotted an Grammys, or defended Mike Tyson
lately. The grand of rebelliousness O'Connor showed in the early '90s now
seems nothing short of amazing---which may say less about her than about
us. Unlike Morissette or even Love, O'Connor was a legitimately angry and
undeniably beautiful woman who desexualized herself---a frightening
combination that many men actually seem to take personally. Not female
artist even comes close to provoking her kind of outrage today, whether it
was due to her daring, dysfunction, or both. If in abandoning P.R.
self-immolation O'Connor goes gently into VH1, something will be lost.
As it happens, O'Connor is not entirely repentant, or, it seems,
entirely at peace. When I pose a question rather too candidly---"Do you
ever look back at your litany of statements and just say, 'Ah, shut
up'?"---she seems surprisingly wounded by the inference.
        "Yeah," she says. "But I don't abuse myself. I mean, I don't
need to since I've got so many other fucking people to do it." She dwells
on the phrasing of the question.
"I don't say 'Shut up,'" she says. "I respect myself for being
the age that I was and having the passion and the integrity that I did
have. I can say about the Pope thing, I'm very proud of that and I stand
by it and I would do it again. Quite a lot of the other things---like the
national anthem or the Grammys---I wouldn't do now because they're just
fucking young moody shit.
"But," she continues, "coming from where I come from and from the
family that I come from it is natural that I would have been quite a
disturbed person. I don't make any apologies for that. And I object to
being abused for that."
What O'Connor will call my "'just shut up' question"---along with
a few other ill-phrased queries---subsequently earns me two faxes at my
hotel. "Hope you don't mind me writing again," one reads. "I don't want
to upset you or anything, but.." She goes on to decry the cruelty of the
media and its complicity in creating some of her ill behavior. "Frankly,
I would never use the term 'Shut up' to anyone---even if I hated them,"
she writes at one point. "I am a good and loving person and I deserve to
be treated with love and respect."

Clearly, these touching protestations of self-worth are not the
words of a true gangsta bitch. "I've kind of unleashed all of that stuff
that I needed to get rid of," O'Connor says. "And now I just want to put
a little beauty around the place."
But luckily for us, O'Connor isn't all aromatherapy and
matrilineal mysticism. An autodidactic radical whose voice imbues even
the corniest lullaby with a tremulous intensity, O'Connor may have more
difficulty flitting off into the land of Lilithian fantasia than she might
imagine (even if she is a daily pot smoker). Her children, two-year-old
Roisin and 11-year-old Jake, help make sure of that.
"Jake's a complete skate punk," says O'Connor. "He's into ramps,
grinding, jumping off things. He listens to Usher, Mase, and all this
hardcore rap. He also likes Lil' Kim, which I'm a bit worried about. I
like her too 'cause she's so rude. But it's just a bit early for him."
In fact, the same kid who kept a 20-year-old O'Connor from fitting
the "enfant terrible" title comfortably may now provide her with one of
the most compelling roles of her career---part Virgin Mary, part Yoko Ono,
and part soccer mom, a role only O'Connor could play.
I ask O'Connor if she's dreading Jake's adolescence. She shakes
her head.
"Everybody says when they get to 14, 15, it's awful," she says.
"But I don't think it will be too bad. I don't feel that far away from
that age myself."
She laughs, perhaps realizing just how relative concepts like
maturity and stability can be. "And I'm not exactly the most traditional
of mothers. Obviously."

I think this article is on the whole really good and quite interesting,
especially in the issues it raises on Sinead's music in terms of the pop
world. It's hard to tell whether this is the author's idea or Sinead's to
suggest that she is aiming towards a more mainstream audience with her
next album. I of course can't wait to hear for myself.
It also makes me wonder considering her choice to sing NC2U again and to
shave her head, actions she definitely knows will have certain effects on
the pulbic's perception of her. I mean wonder in terms of what her
motivation for these actions are (not that I'm saying I think she's
"selling out" of course).

I also LOVE what she says about Alanis and the Cranberries. I've always
believed just what she said to be true. She played a huge part in making
it possible for these 2 (and others) to be successful, a part that she is
almost never given credit for in the media. In fact, my love for her
music partly resulted from my initial appreciation for the music of the
Cranberries, but then my realization that they are sort of descendants of
Sinead and that the original is generally the best ;-) Not to take
anything away from their music.

I think of Sinead as the woman on the artistic frontlines (rather Joan of
Arc-ish) who took the first and worst blows the male dominated media and
music industry threw, and who tore a path for other women to follow.

While I'm still talking, I don't expect VH1 to air too much Sinead. They
don't even have her in any of their Lilith Fair ads, despite her influence
and
struggle, which doesn't seem quite right, considering VH1's practice of
self-promotion as touting itself supportive of women in rock. They must
be given credit for their support of women, but they still don't seem to
have enough conviction to stick their necks out for Sinead, as she is
still often seen as too controversial.
BTW the only video of hers that they played on their 72 hour run of music
video history A-Z was NC2U.

Whew, sorry to go on so long!!!

;-P

Hi Everyone,

There are a bunch of pictures of Sinead and video clips of "I Am
Stretched On Your Grave", "In This Heart", "Nothing Compares 2 U", and a
cute clip of the band off stage throwing John in the air for his 40th
birthday at www.lilithfair.com. You go to DATES and then click on the
ones Sinead are on, click her name, and you'll find them.

See you later,

Wayne

     Hello All!

There is an article in Billboard Magazine about Sinead's new record
deal. It is VERY interesting. It has quotes from people at Atlantic
as well as Sinead and her people. It discusses the marketability of
her music, old and new. It discusses her new record, which it said
will be out, hopefully, by next summer, because she has been asked to
be on ALL of Lilith Fair's dates next year, and Atlantic whats this to
promote her new album. Check it out.

Also, in Q, it is reported that Sinead is the 81st richest rock star
in England. It says she has 4 million pounds and to that she can add
the 8 million dollars of her new record deal. NOT THAT ANY OF THAT
     MATTERS.

     Christian

Greetings,

My name is Tripp Gwyn. I live in the state of North Carolina in the US.
I'm 16 years of age. I am male, a rising Junior.

I'm not exactly a new fan. I originally bought THE LION AND THE COBRA
because I collect CD's by Enya. As many of you probably know, Enya reads
the (Gaelic? I'm not sure the exactl language) bible verse in the begining
of Never Get Old. I began to listen to the other tracks and loved the
album. Troy is sooo good. After a few months I read a review in the local
paper for Gospel Oak. The reviewer raved insistently that although it was
only an EP, in his opinion it was the best CD of the year. I saw the
picture of Sinead and almost fall out of my chair when I saw her with hair.
I bought Gospel Oak. It is still my favorite Sinead CD. I later, also,
bought Am I Not Your Girl beacause I really enjoy Succes Has Mad a FoOH.
Not to mention Sinead's wonderful rendition of Don't Cry For Me Argentenia.
The only other CDs I possess are SO Far, which I love immensely and it
lead me to later buy Universal Mother.

I'm very excited about the Avenger's soundtrack! Yesterday I noticed at
www.atlantic-records.com they had a pic you could click on and get clips
and info for the soundtrack. Unfortunently when I went there it was blank,
but this probably means they're still working on it.

Other artists I enjoy are Tori Amos, Enya, Smashing Pumpkins, U2,
Cranberries, Deep Forest, Radiohead, Everything But the Girl, Erykah Badu
(who Sinead REALLY needs to do a duet with), Bjork (Dito to the previous
comment), and Counthing Crows.

I read from the Spin Article that Sinead had collaborated with Smashing
Pumpkins. Can someone tell me what work this was?

Her work w/members of Smashing Pumpkins will be included on the Avengers
Sdtk. It seems that the members along w/the other artists mentioned in
the article have formed a sort of offspring group called Ashtar Command
under which name they create songs together, sort of like Peace Together,
although Ashtar Command may do more than one song, who knows.
Someone on the list has, I think, heard the song Sinead is on and reported
that it sounds like Celtic electronica, or something to that effect, which
sounds pretty cool to me. I can't wait to hear it!

	Hi there
It's funny you should mention duetting with Bjork - there were
rumours of a collaboration between Sinead and Bjork in the late eighties
but sadly nothing came of it, which is a real shame.

Hello Jitr,

At the MuchMusic homepage (www.muchmusic.com) they have this contest. =
The contest involves identifying which one of this year's Lilith =
participants "rocks your world." Dig this! Sinead isn't even among the =
options. Is that an outright affront or what?! I tried to choose someone =
else. Specifically Sarah. Cuz, well, I probably dig Sarah a whole lot =
more than the next cat. But I couldn't even bring myself to do it. Cuz =
despite how down I am with everything Sarah has done hitherto, only one =
musician truly "rocks my world."

Just can't sleep.

Bilal

And just wanting to say: I LOVE SINEAD O'CONNOR!!!!

hi marcel, eduard, mandy, dawn and the good pple of jitr,

it's kai chai, and i'm in detroit at the moment. just caught sinead at
the lilith mon and tues nights, and i've had lots of things to say.
unfortunately, i'm at this cybercafe which charges like 20 cents a
minute, so pardon me guys if you have to wait till i get back home on 20
july to give you a fuller report (i promise you it'll be a good one.)
suffice to say that sarah mclachlan, the indigo girls, and bonnie raitt
came out to sing the last day of our acquaintance with our darling
sinead at the end of her set, and guess what, nobody could do it better
than she could. and whaddya know, the "i drown in pain and misery" part
is included as well. i also managed to get a bootleg of one of the
nights' concerts (but sadly, not for the first two songs.)

but the way, glad to read that someone posted the spin magazine article,
cause i just bought it, and i completely flipped out when i saw the
four-page story/pictures on sinead. everybody, go get the magazine! it's
worth it for the pics alone.

to the guy who attended the ohio concert and managed to get sinead to
sign his autographs, i must say i'm completely jealous. i did manage to
get backstage at the detroit concerts, but the security was very, very
tight. sigh, there was no sinead in sight. however, i saw sarah with her
big black dog, and i interviewed natalie merchant, amy ray of the indigo
girls, and n'dea davenport (previously from the brand new heavies). amy
ray was very nice: she gave me a speedy tour through the backstage,
dressing rooms, eating place, and where the girls hang out.... while
sinead was playing. she even allowed me to take pictures of sinead
performing from the side: the security pple were all glaring at me, but
i had amy my saviour beside me. for the mandy and fellow fashion
connoiseurs, for both nights, sinead wore a figure-hugging black lacey
top, and indigo denim jeans. and for the encore at the end of the entire
concert, sinead was wearing a long shiny metallic earring on her left
ear. can't give you further description because i was sitting quite far,
and my binos aren't exactly top-grade, sorry, mandy!

have to go, the cost is adding up. promise to give you a ***detailed***
concert review when i get back home and have a clearer, fairer
perspective of sinead's involvement in lilith fair, etc.

bye guys, kai chai.

ps. sorry if i sound incoherent at parts....

Well, Hello Jitr,

I just found another Sinead site. Has this already been advertised on JITR?
Is the maintainer of this page on JITR?

http://lonestar.texas.net/~erick/sinead/

Any now it’s a very nice site, visually especially. The best thing the site
has to offer, I feel, is the mp3's! in the "Stuff" section

MP3 Files From PBS's Sessions at West 54th:

This is to Mother You (2.8 MB)

The Last Day of Our Aquaintance (5.2 MB)

John I Love You (5.5 MB)

Enjoy!

Later all! :)

From=20 WallOfSound.com  July 8, 1998:

Sin=E9ad O'Connor Signs With Atlantic

Nothing compares 2 Atlantic Records for Sin=E9ad O'Connor, who just signed
an exclusive worldwide long-term contract with the label. Part of the
deal includes the release of a full-length album in 1999, as well as a
reissue of O'Connor's six-song EP, Gospel Oak. In fact, this is the third
pressing of Gospel Oak, which was originally released by Chrysalis/EMI in
1997. When EMI slashed domestic efforts, Sin=E9ad inked a distribution deal
for the disc with Columbia, who re-released the EP several months later.=20

"Sin=E9ad is without a doubt one of the most brilliant, original, and
influential voices in music today," said Atlantic Co-Chairman/Co-CEO Val
Azzoli. "As a vocalist, as a songwriter, and as a performer, she
communicates with a rare, undiluted power, emotion, and intelligence that
truly touches the soul. I am thrilled that she has chosen to make
Atlantic Records her new label home, and we are all looking forward to a
long and fruitful relationship with this extraordinarily gifted artist
and exceptional human being."

somewhere, as my mail probably wouldn't allow files of such size. I'd love
to get a hold of some of these, but not all.

Also, I'm sorry that Mars-L is giving up his web site. While I was away from
the list, his site was my sole source of Sinead info. It's an invaluable tool and
I hope that someone will take it over and maintain it as well as Mars-L.

Has anyone in the States been able to get the Ghostland cd? I've checked
with some big stores here in San Diego and they have no idea what it is.

Hello,

Thanx for the thank you's about the MP3's.
Maybe someone knows a way to place them on a page, I don't. Geocities is an
option, but there you could place just 2 songs on a site. So you have to
open several sites to let them stay permanently. And even then, Geocities
doesn't accept MP3 files, you can hide them on a way but if they find them
they simply remove the entire page.

About Ghostland; I doubt it's been released in the US. It's a very small
label they used. But I think you should be able to get it through Import.
At least here in Holland you can get almost all cd's all over the world,
TV-cd's and very small label are harder/not findable.
Gael Force is such a TV-cd which was the first cd I ordered and could not
be delivered in my entire "collector's live".

I'm VERY angry! Go to http://www.cdnow.com and read the NEW Avengers
tracklist.

I'm so angry they removed Emma's song!! Why would they do this!?!??!! I
already knew the Tori song was gonna be cut out. I hope Sinead rips a few
pictures up!

Hi all,

First, thanks to Mars-L for sending the mp3's.

Also, I missed the first 3 songs he sent b/c it took me time to connect to
a mail service that could receive the files.....

Is there anyone in the U.S. that received the first 3 (who can send the
files over a cheaper phone
line set up) who would be able to send them to me?
I would be immensely grateful!!!

Dana

Hi,

The two ladies singing with Sinead are in her band. The red-haired lady
plays the bass and the brown-haired lady plays the keyboard.

Would somebody who has the Ghostland cd post the Label and catalog
number to the list so those of us who would like to order it have more
concrete info to give our local record store?

Thanks,

Sumiko

     Hi All,

On Sunday, VH1 aired a special about Lilith Fair. There was a whole
section devoted to Sinead. They introduced her as the one all the
other artists were talking about and showed clips of the Indigo Girls,
Natalie Merchant, Sara McLaughlin, and two other bands saying how much
they loved Sinead. In fact, when asked what inspires them to write
music, the Indigo Girls replied Life, then the other said "Sinead
O'Connor." It was very exciting. Too bad about the Avengers
     Soundtrack. Maybe it's a mistake.

     Christian

>Going wild it's little! It's incredible how a World Cup means the whole
>world to the average Brazilian.

It was terrible. Terrible. I feel so down right now. I can only imagine
how Brazilians must be feeling. I was very much looking forward to a
stunning Brazil victory. I had thought that Brazil would most certainly
increase their level of play today, considering all the weight today
carried.

And I wasn't going for France. However, they did most certainly deserve
their victory. And I am glad that it was Zidane who scored the important
goals of the match, cuz well, he's the only player I even remotely fancied.

I do wish that Denilson had scored on his last attempt. : ( : ( : (
And I wish Petit never scored. That way it would have been 2-1. Nothing
too crazy. 3-0 sounds so much different.

Anyhow, I am wondering now if the elation one feels during a game is worth
the sadness afterwards. Is it a fair bargain? All I know is that I am so
sad and really want to listen to Universal Mother's slow songs. The thing
is I've lent it out cuz I'm always trying to expose others to Sinead. And
I've lent out Gospel Oak to the same person. Oh well, I guess I'll have to
put in the FoB single or My Special Child. At least those have some slow
songs on 'em.

/Bilal heaves a dolorous sigh

Man, I need a Universal Mother hit right now : (

Sorry, don't mind this message, I'm just upset and tired

PS. that linesman who's call resulted in the France's first goal was crazy!

Hi Gang!

Just wanted to let you know that Sinead was on a VH1 special about
Lilith Fair Sunday afternoon. They were interviewing all of the gals
and showing live clips and videos. I was so excited over some of the
things they were saying about Sinead. She was referred to as a "legend"
and an "icon". She was also credited for paving the way for all of the
other Lilith women. Also, she was said to be the highlight of this
year's festival. One man (I'm not sure if he was a fan or someone in
the music business or working the tour) said that she is known for her
incredible live performances and he was looking forward to seeing her.
Some of the other performers were down right giddy over the fact that
they saw Sinead and got to meet her and shake her hand. It was
incredible to see their reactions and their excitement over our idol.
She definitely received the most compliments/respect of all the Lilith
women. The narrator summed it up by saying "everyone loves Sinead".
When asked how she felt about this she said that it was great, but
scary, because she wanted to live up to their expectations.

I hope I wasn't the only one on the list who saw this. I would love to
hear what others though about it. It made me feel really good to hear
all of the wonderful things they were saying about her. I think she is
on the verge of a major come-back. The release of her next album and
the 1999 Lilith tour will prove it.

She said that all she wanted to do these days was entertain people and
make a living since she can't save the world and that most people don't
really care about what she has to say anyway.

If I can think of anything else that was said, I'll post it.

Peace.
