Hello,

I don't dare to tell, but new songs keep coming.....
While listening to a tape of the Royal Festival 1995 (Thanx Roman!) I heard
a song which I've never heard. But the lyrics are not clear enough to find a
title in it.
It sounds like a kids-song, and it starts with;

"There ones was a farmer......etc"

Does someone of you know which song it could be and does someone have the
full lyrics ???

Hey all,

I joined this list about...3 days ago! I thought the Cranberries mailing
list was quiet! ;)

I thought I would quickly introduce myself. I'm Suzy, I'm from Toronto
(as you've no doubt figured out from my email address!) I'm 19 years old
and I've been a fan of Sinead O'Connor for about....3 months! Yes, not
very long at all. I was first introduced to her by Jani Juvonen - a
member of this list I believe...? (Jani, are you out there?? Hiii!!) when
I was doing a trade of boots - I was getting a Cranberries boot from him
(I Just ADORE the Cranberries!!!!)- and he said he had extra room and
would put on it for me a Sinead O'Connor boot. Well at that time, all I
knew of her was "Nothing Compares To U" - and well, I really didn't
fancy that song too much (I think I'm probably one of the only ones on
this list correct?? It's the same for me with the Cranberries - I don't
really like Linger all that much!!) but Jani insisted so I
said...okay....well, I got the tape through the mail, took it with me in
the car, enjoyed the Cranberies boot immensely...and then I heard for the
first time, "Feel So Different" - I was just COMPLETELY blown away!!!
There was soooo much emotion, I could not believe it!! I listened to the
rest of the boot (although not all of it was on there - Troy was cut out
{anguish, despair}) and immediately went out the next day to buy her
albums.

So my quick story ;)

Anyway, I have tons of questions and I don't want to bug you all, so I was
wondering if one of you could kindly send an FAQ or perhaps guide me to a
very informative web page that will answer all my burning questions about
songs, Sinead's life, pending releases etc...:)

Thanks for reading!!

Suzy

hi,

yesterday i got the book "U2 - faraway so close" from amy (thanks again!)
which has some interesting sinead pictures. i scanned them and you can see
them at this address:

                http://www.dowcomputer.com/sinpic.htm

mars-l asked for the date next to the pictures so that i is easier to find
the new one. i included such a table-row at the right side. the older ones
are only dated with "1996".

any recommendations and pictures are wellcome!

ciao

Ya, I'm here... and I'll shamelessly use this opportunity to advertise my
web page, as you asked:

http://www.xgw.fi/users/bloke/blimey.htm has several links to Sinead home
pages, and also to other artists and bands pages...

Also I suggest that you'd check your local library, maybe they'd have
some book about Sinead? The library here has one... And you might also
check if they have copies of old Q and the Face magazines, as there has
been some good interviews in them. I can't remember the issues right now,
but Sinead is on the cover of them.

A while ago someone on the list posted something from Reuter news
about a concert in Dublin to support Nigerian political prisoners.
Sinead O'Connor was supposed to be one of the performers, which made
a catholic aid organization withdraw its support to the concert.
It was supposed to be on the 10th of November, but I've skimmed
through newspapers and "On In Dublin"; I even called EMI records in
Dublin, but nobody's heard about this. What' s the story? Is it
cancelled? I'm going to Dublin this weekend (9-10.Nov.); and if
anyone knows anything about this, please let me know.

Anne :-)

Hello again

I am working on an old song i have on a live tape of sinead recorded on 14
august 1990 in great woods, mansfield, usa.

Sinead sings a song wich i never heard her singing before. I was trying to
write down the lyrics but the recording is very poor so it's very difficult
to hear her sing. I was wonedring if somebody knew the song, knows the name
of it or knows the lyric. I guess that it's not a sinead song but a cover,
so maybe somebody knows from whom the original is.

The part i managed to wrote down goes like this.

Sometimes i feel
Like all this time
Sometimes i feel
Like all this rtime
Sometimes i feel
Like all this time
Long waiting
Sometimes i wish
I could fly like a bid in the sky
Sometimes i wish
I could fly like a bird in the sky
Sometimes i wish
Fly like a bird in the sky
Than i could get closer to you
One of this times
A real hard time
One of these times
Is a real hard time
One of these times
Is such a real hard time
Sometimes i feel

Sometimes i feel
I'm wrong this time
Sometimes i feel
I'm wrong this time
Sometimes i feel
I'm wrong this time
Long waiting

If you might know any, please send to anna@pi.net so that the song can also
come in Marcels great lyric-discografie.

Hello.

Sinead sang at her concert in the royal festival, london, uk, 26 aug 1995
at the end a song she described as a silly song. It was a very short 'child'
song. I managed to write down the lyrics.
Hope you like it.

SWEET VIOLETS (MARY BETH)
(Coben - C. Grean. Additional lyrics by Sin=E9ad O'Connor)

[Performed sometimes live at concerts]

There once was a farmer who took a young miss
To the side of his barn where he gave her a lecture
On horses and chickens and eggs
And told her that she had such beautiful manners
That suited the girl of his charms
A girl that he wanted to take him his washing and iron
And if she did they then be married
And have...

...Sweet violets
Sweeter than the roses
Covered all over from head to toe
Sweet violets

That=92s where my name=92s strong
Mary say, I=92ve got to go
He don=92t mind that dead wall that appeared=20
Next to rude and lied and he knew anyway
So goodnight and thank you very much

------------------
Lyric transcribed by eduard verheijen and floor boon
send any corrections to anna@pi.net
------------------

The original song has very different second and third verse in wich the girl
first calles her dad, who visits the farmer and made him marry her. At the
end he has no money so she left him. I think the second verse from sinead is
her own.

Does anybody know this song or hes another version of it ?
(preferbly sinead but any other artists might do as well)

Thanks.

Hi
If I'm not very wrong , the song you are
referring to is a song by Van Morrison called "sometimes i feel like
a motherless child". It's on the second of his "Best of" albums, and the
lyrics are there as well. I don't have the album here right now,
but the first verse goes like this:

Sometimes I feel
like a motherless child
sometimes I feel
like a motherless child
sometimes I feel
like a motherless child
a long way from my home

Not surprising that Sinead chose to do this song, considering the
lyrics and also her deep admiration for Van Morrison.

Anne :-)

Today Anne Solberg wrote about "Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless
Child," and seemed to think it was by Van Morrison. Morrison did not
write this music as far as I know -- I've always understood it is an
African-American spiritual. If anyone knows for sure it would be lovely
to find out, but I am too busy right now to check for sure. Busy or
lazy, maybe they're the same thing.

Yep, this song is traditional, and wasn't the song performed by
Sinead at the 1990 Great Woods concert..

Thanks very much. It's on Van Morrisons second best of cd including the
lyrics. The song is not written by V.M. According to the sleeve it's an
traditional, arranged by Van Morrison.

SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE A MOTHERLESS CHILD
(Traditional, arranged by Van Morrison)

Sometimes I feel like a motherless child
Sometimes I feel like a motherless child
Sometimes I feel like a motherless child
Sometimes I feel like a motherless child

Sometimes I wish I could fly
Like a bird up in the sky
Sometimes I wish I could fly
Fly like a bird up in the sky
Sometimes I wish I could fly like a bird in the sky
Little closer to home

Motherless children have a hard time
Motherless children have-a real hard time
Motherless children have a such a real hard time
A long way from home

Sometimes I feel like a motherless child
Ohh, sometimes I feel like a motherless child
Sometimes I feel like a motherless child
So far away

Sometimes I feel like freedom is near
Ohh, sometimes I feel like freedom is here
Sometimes I feel like freedom is near
But we're so far away

Sometimes I feel like it's close at hand
And sometimes I feel like it's close at hand
Sometimes I feel like the freedom is near
But we're so far from home

Motherless children have a real hard time
Motherless children have-a real hard time
Motherless children have a such a real hard time
So long so long so long

Sometimes, sometimes, sometimes, sometimes, sometimes
So far, so far, so far, so far, so far, so far, so far
Mama from you
So far

Motherless children have a real hard time
Motherless children have-a real hard time
Motherless children have a real hard time
So far away from home

Thanks fro all your help on this one.
The sinead recording of this song can be found on a cassete tape
recorded live at great woods, mansfield, usa (together with anachie gordon

Hello,

A few months ago I told that KTS (the bootleggers) got busted, they seems to
be alive again. I just heard they will release a new bootleg, I don't know,
when or what, but I will keep you updated.
BTW, they still seems to sell Beautiful Vision, of which I thought it wasn't
available anymore. You can order it through http://www.kts.it
They ask about $22 for it, plus P&P so the total would probably be about
$25-$30.

What other bootlegs did they do besides VISIONS, BEAUTIFUL
VISION, and THE LION IN THE CAGE?, if they even did all of
          those.

Hi, this might only apply to people living in the Toronto area. They are
having sort of the same benefit concert this Sunday in T.O. and part of the
show is live satellite coverage of Sinead performing in Dublin this Sunday.
It costs $25 to go, and I'm assuming that of course we will maybe get to see
one song of hers, the rest will be people like Moxy Fruvous and others
performing live. Let me know if you want more info regarding tickets etc.
I'm not sure if I'll be going, since it might not be worth paying that much
money to see her for 3 minutes, although it's been almost 6-7 years since I
saw her last. So maybe...
Diana

Hello. Things have been somewhat quiet, so I thought I would
contribute to the mailing extravaganza. One thing that no one has
mentioned as far as I am aware is that in the US on PBS (Public
Broadcasting Service) there is a show called Great Performances. On
this show they presented the making of Glory Of Gershwin tribute album
to, who else, but George and Ira Gershwin. On the show they featured
Sinead doing My Man's Gone Now. I never had a chance to see it, but
people I know have seen it. Reportedly, they discuss that that song
is one of the most difficult to sing of the Gerwin tunes and that
Sinead after only a couple of rehearsals sang it like a master. My
question is, has anyone seen this program?

Well, I have... an year or two ago... Sinead was great... pity I didn't
get it on tape... otherwise the Making Of Glory of Gerswin program was,
well, bollocks. Lame advertising for lame album.

Hello,

Please don't forward the stupid info about that Good Times Virus, it's
totally B*ll Sh*t, which is already circulating for about 2 years..... A
message can never I say; NEVER contain a virus. Virusses are only possible
in Executables like .COM .EXE .BAT and since about a year their are virusses
circulating in macro's for WORD.
But a message, just a message can never contain a virus, okay if there is an
executable file attached, then the attached file might carry a virus, but
the message itself don't ! Even some till then respectfull computer
magazines warned about this virus which doesn't exist.

The following is from the November 6, 1996 Los Angeles Times:

Catholic-raised singer Sinead O'Connor, who gained notoriety by tearing up a
photo of the pope on "Saturday Night Live" several years ago, is reportedly
stirring up more controversy in Ireland by playing a foul-mouthed incarnation
of the Virgin Mary in Neil Jordan's film "The Butcher Boy."

Allrighty then!
I finally got it confirmed - there IS going to be a concert in Dublin
this Sunday, and Sinead IS going to perform. It is in the Temple Bar
Music Centre, tickets are 12.50stlg, and it is going to be a
interactive multimedia sort-of-thing, transferred via satelite to
other countries etc. I am going , and I'll be in the very front, all
starry-eyed and smiling...
Eat your hearts out...;-)

Dear JITR friends,
As seems to be my place on this list, I've decided to do a little
rabble rousing. First and foremost, a little history. I subscribed to this
list late 1995 to about May 1996. Then I left school and just now have
finally established an internet connection, albeit at a different address. I
was formerly <syantis@macalstr.edu>. Check the April archives to see the
flames and hate mail I recieved. (All in good fun though)
So tell me... Who is on this list now? Who are you? What do you do?
Any hobbies? Any other musical likes or dislikes? How old are you? Male
or Female? How intense of a Sinead fan are you? Anybody personal friends?
(as in have seen each other personally) Any Sinead experiences you wanna
reveal? Are you strictly Sinead fans or are you music lovers/audiophiles who
read Discoveries/Goldmine/ICE mags? that's about all I can think of at this
sitting.
Let's (ONCE AGAIN) get some opening up. Enough with the lyrics/tape
trees/etc. stuff. If you don't want to put up with my "questions" shit,
don't answer or even read my mail. that's cool.
You wanna know about me? well.... my name is Steven Yantis. I'm male,
age 20. I'm a student at... well, I went to Johnson County Community
College (JCCC) in Overland Park, Kansas (near Kansas City) for a while, then
to Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota for a year, now I'm out of
school. Then I'll be back to JCCC for the spring and summer semester, then
on to the University of Kansas at their Journalism School. My hobbies are
mostly collecting records and CD's. I personally own about 500 CD's and
about 200 records. Mostly new stuff. I live for the next great sound. So
in that sense, I'm an audiophile and music lover. I also like playing with
my cat and the new puppy. I coach soccer for little kids. I like watching
movies. Good movies that is. I don't do MST3K. I like reading the paper,
watching the news, etc. and getting pissed off about all of our (USA) corrupt
government. My affinity for Sinead probably isn't as strong as some on this
list (i.e. Marcel) but I do own all her albums, the live Beautiful Vision, a
bunch of singles, some of her duets, and a few posters. How about that?
Right now, the new Wilco album is just blowing me away. It's been in
my changer ever since I bought it. Any comments?
*****NOTICE***** For all of you who are going to write to me and say
this has nothing to do with Sinead, and I should go to hell for writing it,
save your breath. I already have heard the argument and I obviously don't
care.
Really, I'm a nice person. I love all animals. From humans to
spiders. But I can be a real asshole if the time and place is right. So "Do
unto others as you would have them do unto you." I hope you all have a
wonderful next week.
                       Love,
                       Steven Yantis

How intense of a Sinead fan are you?

Moderate fan interested in getting more of her albums as time/money
permits. Fan since 'I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got' came out. Also
have 'Lion and the Cobra.' I have a lot of respect for her musical
abilities and her fearlessness(whether or not I always agree with her).
She takes tough stands on issues and doesn't back down.

> Anybody personal friends?

Not that I know of.

 >Any Sinead experiences you wanna reveal?

Nothing really, except 'Three Babies' and 'The Last Day of our
Acquintance' still give me goosebumps when I hear them.

Are you strictly Sinead fans or are you music lovers/audiophiles who
> read Discoveries/Goldmine/ICE mags?

I read a lot of music/entertainment magazines, mainly for Neil Young and
Sinead content.

Steve: This is a good idea, the members of the NY oriented 'RustList'
do it every once in a while, and it makes things fun. I am a newbie to
this list, and it has been very quiet since I started.(Maybe this is
because Sinead has been less active lately, I don't know.)

I hope that this wasn't too boring for everybody. Take care all.

Hi, could someone please elaborate on her performance. I went to see it via
satellite in Toronto (hi Dave!) and her set got cut off right after 'I am
stretched on your grave', I know she was just getting ready to say something
and she didn't use the guitar so I know there was more. PLEASE...let me
know what exactly happened.
Thanx
D.

Reading (just finished Helen Demidenko's "Hand that signed the Paper",
Writing, Painting/Drawing, playing with the dog and writing her life-story
(http://www.uq.edu.au/~tpmraymo/life_as_dog/dog_contents.html), casual
sports (tennis, cycling, swimming etc), and being a general pain in the
bum.

> Any other musical likes or dislikes?
Sinead, The Cranberries, Bjork, Annie Lennox, Debra Conway, Tracey
Chapman,U2, The Triffids, Crowded House, Peter Gabriel, Sting, Jah Wobble
and have just
started to get into Archie Roach, PJ Harvey, Jane Siberry.
Madonna is starting to grow on me too.
If any are unfamiliar to you they are Australian and you oughta get into
em!
These are mostly off the top of my head. I like most music that is based
strongly on the vocal strengths and interesting musical arrangements,
hence Sinead is IN!

I have all her albums and most of the more recent singels. I own one book
called "Sinead, her life and music" and several magazines and a couple
of postcards and I think, 1 poster. I am not a scholar of music and cannot
play an instrument and cannot sing even in the shower. However I think I
have a good ear and believe Sinead is outstanding amoung her
peers: marvelously talented and inspirational.

have never seen a concert exept on video

I glean music mags for info on all my favourites, Sinead included. But
I've never heard of those threee magazines. I read Juice (Australian) and
Vox and Q mostly.

I've been to the concert!. I even got to see the rehearsals, (although that
was only for the stage crew, etc. but I kind of eeerhmm...sneaked
in..) Sinead was standing there on this really small stage, talking
about the monitors and humming and small talking. I stood in the
back, smoking a cigarette and thinking I was in heaven.
About the concert: It was a support concert for the Nigerian
oppositiom leader Ken Saro-wewa, who was killed by the government for
protesting against Shell and their cynical explotation and pollution
of the land of the Ogoni people. 19 people are still in prison in
Nigeria for this reason. The concert featured loads of Irish bands,
both traditional and rock; poetry readings (i.e. Roddy Doyle) etc.
The second part of the concert was "interactive", there was live
contact with similar events in New York, Toronto and Brighton. The
Toronto show was on TV, and i think Sineads performance was included
there. Sinead was last on stage, singing "I am stretched
..."acappella and "This is to mother you"with her guitar. It was
an incredible performance. The 600 people in the audinence was like
mesmerized, and she got an enormous applause.she was so cute, looking
all shy and embarassed because of this loving reception.
Beautiful....

Anne :-)

Hey all, it's me again, yes for a more in depth look at arguably the
newest person on the list :)

> Who are you?
Suzy Aston, student at the University of Toronto
>
> What do you do?

Well as I'm in my first yeat, I don't know what exactly I am doing (in
more ways than one!) I'm interested in languages - studying German and
French and I'm doing various histories :)

Any hobbies?

I play the piano, and the guitar (suck at the guitar!!) Incidentally while
I'm on the topic of pianos and guitars, are there song books of any of
Sinead's albums??

I also collect as a hobby, a very EXPENSIVE hobby mind you, Cranberries
stuff :)

Any other musical likes or dislikes?

Well my above hobby indicates one band - my foremost favourite - the
Cranberries. I also listen to Oasis, +Live+, Suede, Crowded House, Pulp
and of course, Sinead - who seems to be dominating my cd player these
days...

How old are you?

19

Male or Female?

Female...

> How intense of a Sinead fan are you?

I wouldn't call myself intense, more enthusiasm that I see building to
intense...

I've never seen her live

And I have absolutely no singles and only ONE TAPED bootleg of hers - as
I'm super new and all the cd stores around me *conveniently* have nothing
of hers!!

> Anybody personal friends?

Well yes, my best friend, my soul mate, who is about 300km from me :'(

(is this what you meant?)

> Any Sinead experiences you wanna reveal?

Already revealed one, I don't want to bore you all!

> Are you strictly Sinead fans or are you music lovers/audiophiles who
> read Discoveries/Goldmine/ICE mags?

I wouldn't call myself a very diverse fan, I have my likes and dislikes
and I stick to what's good...so, er, I'm not really much of an
audiophile..but I do LOVE music. I don't know where I'd be without it!
It's helped me through soo many times when I've been depressed or excited
about something and I would find a song in my collection of cds that would
relate to exactly what I'm feeling at that moment - that seems to be very
important to me!

Oops, okay, I've rattled, terribly sorry! Until next time,

Suzy

I have songbooks (100% official stuff!) for Universal Mother
and Am I Not Your Girl. I suppose the other two must exist...

They both have guitar tablatures, but actually, they're quite
piano-oriented.

Nico.

slainte! steve. thank you for doing this questionaire. jitr has awakened.
>
> So tell me... Who is on this list now? Who are you?
cecilia (a.k.a. frog) in a dowtown houston library. i am a compulsive
lurker.
>
> What do you do?
i study in an ivory tower, dream, listen to music, write poetry and
stories. i'm kinda in graduate school, but i'm having second-thoughts
about it =[. my forte is mediaeval lit., and now i'm studying holocaust
literature. it's astonishing.... such an ecstacy of pain..... perhaps i'll
become a solicitor, instead of going on with graduate work. family law
deeply interests me.

> Any hobbies?
i collect frogs and used to have a few live ones in the backyard but a big
snake swallowed them :(. love cycling and walking on a winter day. also, i
play guitar [but very badly--hence the day job]. other interests: black
and white photography, cooking, gardening, irish studies, surfing the net,
poetry readings, getting lost in the bookstore and being sineadian. oh,
and drinking guinness, when it's on tap ;-).

> Any other musical likes or dislikes?
no dislikes really. there's a special place in my heart for u2 [i'm
looking forward to their next opus] ,
chieftains, pogues, christy moore, some early hothouse flowers, the
dubliners, the commitments when they were around, waterboys, r.e.m., black
47 [irish-american group], the indigo girls ;-), ani difranco, tracy
chapman, melissa e., midnight oil but they're kinda defunct i suppose,
yitzhak perlman [a violinist virtuoso], new order, franz lizst, and
mediaeval french pastorelles, when i can appreciate them.

> How old are you?
22

> Male or Female?
a green female knight who wears her docs. with pride :).

> How intense of a Sinead fan are you?
i am writing a book about sineadian experiences and i have been an ardent
supporter of sinead o'connor from when i first got into her music, which
was when i was 14 or 15. i am a mediocre collector of sinead o'connor
artifacts, but i write about my sineadian revelations. i even had a female
pup named sinead :) [an apt name indeed].

> Anybody personal friends?
yes, but i promise not to "out" them ;-).

>Any Sinead experiences you wanna reveal?
well, i may be turning this into an obscenely long confessional [hmmmm,
it's the former catholic in me again]. so i'll just refer you to the
april, may and june issues of jitr and when you glean these
archives perhaps you'll get a glimpse of a cathartic expereince of mine
[imho].

> Are you strictly Sinead fans or are you music lovers/audiophiles who
> read Discoveries/Goldmine/ICE mags?
i'm an audiophile in various genres. i usually read hot press, q, vox,
select? stuff about music and pop babylon,
rolling stone [when there's nothing else], the u2 digest and propaganda,
dirty linen [folk music type], billboard [occasionally], i've seen
goldmine, but i usually go to soundwaves on westheimer for some rare
things. david sadoff's lunar rotation often features rare and
up-and-coming artists. i always keep an eye on news pertaining to sinead
and all other musicians mentioned previously. but again, i am a poor
collector of music =[.

Ok, I finally got around to answering this...not that anybody should care...

> Who are you?

I'm Joe! Joe Tantalo, that is.

>What do you do?

I'm a freshman at MSU studying Computer Science.

> Any hobbies?

I spend %40 of my waking hours on my Mac computers, doing all sorts of
stuff. I also (try to) fence for MSU.

>Any other musical likes or dislikes?

Hmmm...
Likes: Neil Young, The Who, The Cranberries, EMP, Mike Oldfield, Bob
Seger, and I consider myself to be one of the biggest Pink Floyd fans
alive.

Dislikes: Rap. Country. Most Alternative.

>How old are you? Male or Female?

18, male.

>How intense of a Sinead fan are you?

I really, really, like The Lion and the Cobra. But I consider buying "Am I
Not Your Girl?" a mistake, if that tells you anything.

>Anybody personal friends?

Nope.

>Any Sinead experiences you wanna reveal?

My love for Pink Floyd drove me to Sinead, actually. I bought Roger
Water's "The Wall live in Berlin" which of course has Sinead singing
"Mother" on it. I like that so much (except for The Band's annoying backup
vocals) that I did some research and got "The Lion and the Cobra".

>Are you strictly Sinead fans or are you music lovers/audiophiles who read
>>Discoveries/Goldmine/ICE mags?

Well, you'll find me on alt.music.pink-floyd.

Joe

Well I have a crap job but only wanna make music. It's my life and =
Sin=E9ad showed me this way.

> Any hobbies?

Well, music, music and music.=20
> Any other musical likes or dislikes? =20

Sarah McLachlan,Jill Sobule, PJ Harvey, Babes In Toyland, Eddie Reader, =
Anuna,Joni Mitchel, Tori Amos, Bob Marley....
=20
How old are you?

19

> Male or Female?=20

Female=20

How intense of a Sinead fan are you? =20

I was in love with her for many years (yes, I'm a lesbian!) but i think =
more realistic now. I become a Sin=E9ad fan 7 years ago. (I was 12 years =
old)
Have all her albums and nearly every single and many, many posters and =
pictures.
> Anybody personal friends?

Not that I know of.

 >Any Sinead experiences you wanna reveal?=20

She's the most beautiful woman I ever saw.=20
But I don't only like her appearance.I love everything of her.

Are you strictly Sinead fans or are you music lovers/audiophiles who
> read Discoveries/Goldmine/ICE mags? =20

I read a lot of music/entertainment magazines. And of course I'm a huge =
music lover. =20

That's not much but that's all.

My name is Chris Petrulio, 26, male. I live in New York City. I do
HIV research at NYU. I graduated from Harvard in 1993 and plan to go
     to medical school next year.

I have been an ardent fan of Sinead's since I laid my eyes on her in
the Mandinka video in 1987. I immediately bought the album and it has
been respect and adulation ever since. I, of course, have all four
albums, and almost every single, import, bootleg, guest appearances on
other albums and tv shows, posters (an enormous mounted one for the
Mandinka single of her head), books, music books, etc... I have seen
her in concert 3 times--two I Do Not Want.. concerts and one of those
     Peter Gabriel things.

I do like other music, obviously, but I am not passionate about anyone
else. I peruse Q, Rolling Stone, Spin, Vox, etc... for Sinead
     references.

One Sinead moment that was special was when I was driving in my car in
August 1994 and I turned on the radio to hear that voice yelling about
"she took my sister and brothers". I knew instantly it was Sinead even
though I had no idea she was releasing an album and no one announced
that it was she. Who else could write a song like that? So now I look
forward to a new album and when I hear the single off it for the first
     time.

So that is who I am. (They were talking about her being in The Butcher
     Boy on the radio yesterday.)

As long as we are all introducing ourselves I thought I might pipe up
too. I'm Hilary, 17 years old, female, got into Sinead when my sister
did about six or seven years ago.  I live in Minnesota, but not for long;
I am going to college away from here. Shane MacGowan/Pogues, Zap Mama,
David Byrne, Medeski Martin & Wood, William Orbit, Deep Forest, and many
others are favored with me right now, but I am curious if anyone knows
anything about William Orbit, which I discovered by accident and by which
I am quite mystified. Oh I probably shouldn't be writing this right now
because other family members are waiting to use the phone, so I'm afraid
I'll have to cut this short, and end by saying Sinead's music and her
strength have helped preserve my spirit in the face of high school, and
if anyone out there doesn't think high school can be a killing
atmosphere, this person either went to a dream school or has a very bad
memory. I am sure Sinead would agree.

Hiya Guys and Gals :)
Coming out of lurk mode, just to say "Hi"
OK, my name's Meghan, I'm 17, female. I'm a student, studying French and
Sociology at A-level. In my free-tiime I like to write, sing, listen to music,
sometimes surf the net, other times, I go on MOOs. I'm also a member of an
anti-war, anti-racist group. At the moment we're organising an exchange trip to
Ghana to challenge the idea that Africans are inferior. [If anyone would be able
to help, donate money or computer equipment, or wants to know more about it
E-mail me :)]
I like the cranberries [Hi Suzy - I'm on the list too, Don't Go!], k.d.
lang, Pulp, Paul Simon, Tori Amos - my latest find, Annie Lennox.
I've only been a Sinead fan for about a year, but I've got all the
albums, although that is all I've got. But I still like her a lot.
>Anybody personal friends?< No, not with Sinead, but I did see the Queen this
evening - the real Queen! Well I was impressed :)
I don't think I've met her [Sinead, not the Queen, please, try and follow
:)]... if she's quite tall then I did, but if not it was someone who looked a
lot like her - I was too shy to ask "Are you Sinead O'Connor?"

Well, good-bye folks, take care.
Meghan

Dear Sineadians,

this becomes really annoying: everybody telling who he or she is and what
they are doing! Who cares!!! This is definitely not what jitr is supposed
to be about. So please: stop it!
