Hi everybody,

Last tuesday 1oktober I heard on MTV,
that Sinead was doing some coarses (old news),
but at the same time she was busy recording a NEW ALBUM!!!
Has anybody else heard something about a new album???

I also have a question about Sinead's song Never get old,
but what does she say at the start of the song,
is it irish, is it a poem or prayer
and what does it say in english or dutch.

It isn't Sine'ad, but Enya (another Irish performer) who speaks on "Never
Get Old." It's some passage from the Christian Bible, but I'm not sure
which one.

Also, did any of you see the cranberries Rockumentary on MTV (USA) last
night? They asked Dolores O'Riordan Burton about Sine'ad, and I was glad
to hear the positive comments. :)

Hi Mom,

I hope the message that I sent to David is of some comfort. Their sure
isn't much people can say to someone who has lost someone...

I had a dream about you last night. You came into my room and laid your
hands upon my head and took away the pain of being a motherless child.

Just a quick note, I am sure right now is a busy time for you.

Take Care of yourself and Rob & I are praying for all of you, just to
bring a little solace to the pain.

Love You,
daughter hol

Shalom everyone,

Well, this week is the Succot holyday in Israel, so it was a good chance for
me to get a little rest from work. I went for two days to see a pestival of
alternative theatre, and went one night to a dance festival in which some of
the best DJ-s from around the world performed. I also almost did a tattoo of
a cobra on my left arm, but only almost ... (but, the week is not over
yet ;-) )

Anyway, today I had a lot of free time, so I decided to improve my homepage.
I did several things, but the major thing I added was a page that is called
"Pieces of Sinead", which is really, pieces of Sinead Biography that I either
collected from the jitr archive, or added by myself (For example, I copied
the part from the Q interview, in which Sinead described how she tried to
kill herself)

I think it really came out really nice! Check it out. I need your comments
and corrections. Include English corrections, of course.

The URL path is:

http://www.tripod.com/~yoav/sinead.html

Bye bye, and peace everyone

(don't worry, eventually Arafat and Bibi WILL talk peace between them...)

Two more things I want to say:

1) Finally, the news about Sinead taking a course in the University appears
this week in the MTV-Europe Teletext news.

(I told yah ... The lady is bored to death! )

2) Sinead, if u didn't know, is quite popular in Israel. Not much of course,
because the youngster are not familiar with Sinead early albums, but still...
more than you could expect.

(By the way, how many Israelis are members of jitr. I know only of one
besides me - Dana - but are there more?)

Anyway, another proof (to me) that Sinead is popular in Israel was an
Hebrew serias that appeared in channel 2 in Israel. the serias, whose last
chapter was broadcasted tonight, was about several young Israelis in Tel
Aviv that decide to create a blue movie! The serias was really great, very
fanny and interesting, but the more interesting part for me was that during
sereval chapters several Sinead's songs were played as background. For
example, "All apologies" was played once, and in the last chapter, today,
"Thank u for hearing me" was played just at the end!

What do you say about that?!

Shalom,

can anyone out there explain to me the reason for sinead's unpopularity
with a major chunk of ireland? my guess would be the trouble she's
stirring with the church, but it's only a guess. anyone that knows the
insides of the story over there, please fill me in:)

I posted a little something @ imusic after reading your message--but
sauron's talk there is so silly--but any chance to speak-up for Sinead
is cathartic. I signed as the "light lord"--a none to subtle reference
to the dopey, if creepy "dark_lord".

I made an interface for the CD "I Do Not Want What I haven't Got" using the
Apple Interactive Music Toolkit. Basically you put the CD in you CD-Rom
drive, and load the CDQ file using the new AppleCD player (available for
Mac and Windows). It's nothing too special but it's a neat way to play the
CD through you computer. I put it up on my Web Page at:
http://uts.cc.utexas.edu/~erick/sinead/sineadtexts.html

I haven't tested it for Windows, but it's supposed to be cross platform.
let me know what you think,

Hi folks:

One of these days there will be the release of the latest cd of Rick Wright
called Broken China.
On this cd Sinead sings two songs.
Rick Wright is the keyboard player for Pink Floyd. Rick Wright (then called
Richard Wright) played on al pink floyd albums except for The final cut. Due
to problems he had with Roger Waters during the Wall period he said Pink
Floyd farewell after The Wall. In 1986 he met David Gilmour again who just
started working on A momentary Lapse of Reason. Wright joined and after that
they recorded the division bell and lately the double live cd Pulse.

The cd 'broken China' has become an concept album. The theme is about a
young girl who suffers from a clinic depression. Wright got this idea from a
girlfriend of his who actually got this. Wright asked Sinead to 'play /
sing' the parts of the story where the girl is talking/ singing about herself.

Although Wright asked Sinead and she directly said Yes, he was afraid that
she might say no due to her own psychic problems and that she now has to
sing parts of a girl with psycic problems. .

I will tell you more as soon as I listened to the record.

Hi jitr members,

I'm glad to announce that I improved my Homepage. Again. :-)

Besides some nice pictures, icons and colors that I added to the existing
pages, I added a NEW section, with includes some of the best quotes (by MY
point of views) from Sinead's songs.

Check it out. I'd love to get some additional quotes.
Once again, here is my sineadian URL:

http://members.tripod.com/~yoav/sinead.html

(or u can also write: http://www.tripod.com/~yoav/sinead.html)

I must say that I'm quite proud of my Sineadian Homepage. Well, not totally,
because I am still not completely happy with the look of my pages, but, I WILL
edit it again and add some new stuff of course... as soon as I'll find time
for it. (Aren't we all busy these days ? )

Yoav.

Hi all,

Although this is not really about Sinead, you'd probably be interested to
know that I've made a web page full of links to female artists and -bands
home pages...

You can find it at:
http://www.xgw.fi/users/bloke/blimey.htm

It's currently got over 300 links to over 200 artists/bands pages,
including some Sinead pages of course.

Well, thus far I did not read one single notice on the jitr from people who
bought the rick wakeman Broken China cd.
Just for those who are intrested.

This week the Rick Wakeman cd Broken China is released. On this cd sinead
sings to songs:
- Reaching for the rail (6.31) (wich also features a chorus by Rick Wakeman)
- Breakthrough (4.20)

In the beginning i did not like the songs very much, the whole cd sounds
like an alan parsons cd. There are a lot of instrumental songs on it. But I
think I like Reaching for the rauil best. Sinead is a girl with a psychical
problem and that's what she sings about in this song:

I'm ill with a fever, I feel like a child
I lay in the dark until morning came
It's so unoriginal
And I feel it worse at night
I know it's not terminal
But I'm near half dead with fright
And freezing cold

But sonner than wake up
To find it all unchanged
I'll sleep through the day till daylight ends
'Cos it's so familiar
And it comes around again
The same taste to everything
The same unbroken chain
That still remains

With morning I rise
A dream that won't leave me
You're sad, naked and pale
And you are reaching for the rail
You take a look inside
How can you peel away
Or broke the shell, the hurt you've hidden so well
For all your days

[etc...]

According to mtv nwews-europa sinead is studing at the moment (we all know)
but that won't influence her recordings of her album. According to mtv it's
due for 1997. But they did not tell when in 1997... :-(

Hello everyone. This is my first time sharing
information this way. I got the "Michael Collins"
soundtrack. Sinead sings 3 songs on it. One of them
is "He Moved Through The Fair". This, though, is not
as good as the version she did with the Chieftans. The
other two songs use her mostly as a background singer,
but they are somewhat haunting. A review of the movie
here in New York made a special point to mention that
the movie begins with Sinead O'Connor wailing in the
background--and this was a good thing!

Irish Aid Agency Pulls Out Of Concert Over Sinead O'Connor

By Jane O'Sullivan

DUBLIN (Reuter) - Ireland's leading Roman Catholic Church-backed aid agency
has withdrawn from a fund-raising concert because it features controversial
pop singer Sinead O'Connor, who once tore up a picture of Pope John Paul on
TV.

"This is nothing personal against Sinead O'Connor. But we are dependent on
the support of Catholic people and when she ripped up a picture of the Pope,
we were deluged with protests here," a source at the aid organisation said.

"Many who contribute a pound a week or whatever, were genuinely distressed,"
the source said.

Trocaire said it could not be involved in the concert to mark the first
anniversary of the execution of Nigerian civil rights activist Ken Saro-Wiwa
because of O'Connor's public anti-Catholic stance.

The Dublin-born singer caused a sensation four years ago by tearing up a
picture of the Pope during a performance on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" and
has been outspoken in her criticism of the church.

Trocaire, the Irish word for "mercy," is formally known as The Catholic
Agency for World Development and shares a Dublin address with Ireland's
Catholic Information Office.

Trocaire was not aware that O'Connor was going to be asked to take part in
the concert but withdrew when it found out.

"We were not taking a moral judgment, but simply dealing with the
practicalities of the situation," the source said.

Saro-Wiwa was executed by Nigeria's military government last year and the
concert was designed to commemorate his death and focus attention on the
causes he represented.

"The decision has been taken in order that this important concert can
proceed without distracting from its main purpose, namely to highlight the
continuing oppression of the Ogoni people (in Nigeria) and the threat of
execution which hangs over 19 Ogoni leaders," Trocaire said in a statement
on Monday night.

The concert, to be staged in central Dublin on November 10, will take place,
a spokesman for other groups organising the fund-raising event said. "The
show will go ahead, and we are delighted to have Sinead with us. She is a
tremendous Irish artist," he said.

Can anyone tell me about the Roach family that Sinead refers to in the
CD liner of "I don't want what I hven't got"? Does it have something to
do with 'Black boys on mopeds'?

Hi Folks:

I was trying to get info on the Michael Collins Soundtrack, and came
up with something I didn't know about--which I include below. By the
way, As far as I can tell the Michael Collins Soundtrack is on the
Varese Sarabande Label--the composer is Elliot Goldenthal ( Batman
Forever, Alien 3 !!?!). Anyway--I know nothing about this other movie
STOLEN HEARTS, but Sinead's on it--maybe this is old news, but it was
new news to me.

Later,

Paul C.
------------------------
	Stolen Hearts (Edel)
DESPITE THE film's poor showing at the
 box-office, this AOR contemporary
soundtrack saves the day with a host of
 top notch tunes fromworld renowned
 artists.

 Ireland's Sinead O'Connor and Shane
McGowan kick things off with the
 atmospheric Haunted, surprisingly
 combining their unique but contrasting
vocals to great effect. Canadian rocker
Alannah Myles has never really shrugged
off her one hit wonder label and will
always be remembered for her worldwide
debut Black Velvet in 1990. Here she
performs the Carole Bayer Sager penned
ballad You Love Who You Love.

 An interesting inclusion is Belinda
Carlisle's first new material for EMI
records after her long and successful
career with Virgin. Once again she has
 collaborated with long time
friend/songwriter Rick Nowels on the rock
 ballad I Wouldn't Be Here If I Didn't Love
You. It's also great to see 80's divas The
Pointer Sisters back in fine form with
their rendition of Isaac Hayes You Got Me
 Hummin'. With powerful contributions from
 relative newcomers Amanda Marshall, Shelby
Lynne, Bif Naked and Troy Newman, this
highly recommended album never fails to
 disappoint. It thoroughly deserves to
 exceed the movie's dismal performance.

I'll be on a business trip from 18 October through 4 November and will
have less than the usual amount of time to read e-mail, and while I
hope to be able to resolve any major problems that happen with the
server, there will be no one babysitting the hardware on a full-time
basis, so there may be short list outages. I will try to catch up on
any list requests that need manual intervention (those are pretty
rare), but they might be delayed during my absence.

Cheers,

Excuse me, but I had nothing to do with this. Please send your abusive

dear jitr,
did anyone else get this poor stressful person's letter?

sorry this post isn't about Sinead, but I'm really peeved. i mean, of
course it's obviously an inconvenience for this person to be on a list
they don't want to be on and that the mail is jamming their business mail,
but they don't have to blame me for it. And certainly not in that way.

oh where, oh where is Frog and everyone? it's been so quite lately.

Hi Friends--(Freaks?)

Maybe if MIZ DAWN STANLEY stopped reading so much business mail and
listened to Sinead she'd have an insight into why she's so angry! What a
contrast--Sinead's wrath against the abuse of children, family and
country, and MIZ DAWN STANLEY's peevishness about MIZ DAWN STANLEY!

I think what happened with the person's recent message to the
list was that he hit reply to a piece of junk mail that
had been sent to jitr _and_ other mailing lists.

I don't think he was responding to jitr per say.

That's the only way it makes sense.

>Found some info on the new Film "Micahel Collins" CD featuring "THE
>VOICE." I believe Sinead sings on only two cuts: AS SHE MOVED THROUGH
>THE FAIR and MACUSHLA. Later, Paul C.

I bought the album last night, and she sings on three songs:

Easter Rebellion
Civil War
She Moved Through The Fair

On "Easter Rebellion" and "Civil War" she is backed by a large chorus.
She sings in Gaelic, and only a couple of verses. There is also a
large orchestra, as this is, after all, film music. She does not sing
on "Macushla." That one is performed by a man.

hello!
thank you for being, sinead. thank you for being alive. i'd like to do
another survey again [before the semester is over].any suggestions? sinead
o'connor would
enjoy two classes i'm taking in graduate school, modern thought:
literature
of the holocaust and preseminar in mediaeval literautre.
recently, a friend of mine told me that universal mother has made a
significant impact on his life. sinead's powerful healing music
seems so much like yeats's "terrible beauty".

A chara,

Alas, I've seen Wuthering Heights and she has a very very little role, only
a few seconds playing Jane Eyre's role at the very beginning and the very
end of the movie.

Hello!
I've been from the list for a while, but now I've got my new address
here in UCG, Galway. I saw that Sinead is performing at a concert in
Dublin the 10th of november, which happens to be exactly the weekend
I'm going over there. I'll definitely go to the concert.
I called EMI in Dublin to hear what she was up to for the moment, and
they said she was working on a new album. But how can she be doing
that AND go to college at the same time? Where is St. Marys college,
anyway?

Anne :-)

slainte, anne!
i hope i'll be able to go to galway next summer. it must be lovely, in
galway--especially now that fall has come. when you go to dublin, go to
wicklow street, to an underground record shop, since they have an enviable
sinead o'connor collection. have you walked around o'connel street? what
did you think of it? supposedly, this past summer, loyalists had
planted a bomb at the
general post office. o, i long to be in college green again.
take care,
--frog--
lovely day for a guinness ;-)

Hot Press magazine has put up on the Web an article it ran on Sinead. It
was written a while back, around the time of Universal Mother. Here's the
URL:

http://www.dublin.iol.ie/hotpress/sub/iss17951/sinadoc.htm

I've added a link to it from my Sinead page.

I just came back from the viewing of Michael Collins.... Sinead's voice in
the background in the beginning and then near the end of the movie ("He
Moved Through the Fare") was, indeed, haunting. As for the movie itself,
I would recommend that anyone who has not yet seen it should do so.... the
only downfall, however slight, was that Julia Roberts does not look or
sound Irish! :) Some of the actors definitely had a hard time speaking
in an authentic Irish accent.... but Liam Neeson was superb.

Listening to music in the Gaelic tongue always makes me want to learn
it.....

Hello,

Today I added the lyrics to JUMP IN THE RIVER with Karen Finley to my
song-list with their lyrics. Ofcourse last months I added some more, but
this is added after I updated the homepage a few days ago.

I hope it's allowed on Iternet to publish this kind of "dirty lyrics" :-))

SINEAD O'CONNOR - THIS IS TO MOTHER YOU (october 30th 1996)
=======================================

This is to mother you
To comfort you and get you through
Through when your nights are lonely
Through when your dreams are only blue
this is to mother you

This is to be with you
To hold you and to kiss you too
For when you need me I will do
What your own mother didn't do
Which is to mother you

All the pain that you have known, ohh
All the violence in your soul, ohh
All the wrong things that you have done, ohh
I will take from you when I come

For I am to mother you
To comfort you and get you through
Through when your nights are lonely
Through when your dreams are only blue
this is to mother you
