Since people had mentioned that Sinead was appearing at Womad the
other week I was surprised that no-one noted that she appeared at the
Peter Gabriel concert in Oakland a few days later. The concert was to
make up for a cancelled show in August and many of the Womad
performers appeared on stage. Sinead was on stage for about 2/3 of
the show, she sang two duets with Gabriel and backing vocals for much
of the rest of the show. She was clearly nervous and seemed a little
uncomfortable with the prominence Gabriel kept giving her in the
rather impressive stage show. The crowd was extremely supportive
however, especially when she faltered singing the Kate Bush part
in "Dont Give Up". It was quite a special evening.

I beg to differ. Most of her performance was affected by nerves.
It is true that the sound guys had their problems too.

I will agree that some of her performance showed that she was nervous.
However, her problems with Don't Give Up were mike problems, at least
from my seat.

Does anybody actually have a tape of the Oakland Gabriel show, or of any
WOMAD Gabriel/Sinead shows? I have lots of Sinead oddities on tape that
I would gladly use for a trade.

My only problem with the WOMAD shows was that at least in the one
in SF Sinead didn't get to sing anything solo. I was secretly hoping
that she would sing Troy or War :-)

Any news on upcoming solo or other works?

Hello,

I'm not sure if this is the perfect place to post this. If not, apologies,
and please let me know if you know of a better place.

With help of others, I've compiled a discography of Christy Moore, with
additional information on Planxty and Moving Hearts. I've uploaded it to
the Music FTP archive ftp.uwp.edu:/pub/incoming/discog/moore.christy. Hope
you like it, let me know what you think of it.

However, the discography is still far from complete, I only have
information on about half of the recordings. If you have information on
one of the recordings below, or if you have any additional information,
corrections or omissions, please mail them to me. If possible, use the
format I used in the discography. You will be added to the list of Very
Kind and Helpful People in the file!

Thanks in advance, Derk Ederveen <D.N.M.Ederveen@research.ptt.nl>
(if that doesn't work: <derk@saluton.hacktic.nl>)

PS: If you don't have access to FTP you can use the ftpmail server.
Send the following message to <ftpmail@decwrl.dec.com>:
     connect ftp.uwp.edu
     reply PUT-YOUR-E-MAIL-ADDRESS-HERE
     get /pub/incoming/discog/moore.christy
     quit
If that doesn't work either, I'm willing to send you the file by e-mail.

tell them to go jump in the river.

And if we said jump in the river, you would. Because it would

It's a flurry of activity!

We are here. Just not a lot to talk about I guess. Hmmm.

Anyone care to pick a topic?

Has anyone heard Sinead covering "Don't Give Up" with Willie Nelson. I saw the
import CD single and am very skeptical about it. It seems kind of a strange duo.

Ah well, just trying to see if there really are others here.

Rich,
hello there. No I haven't seen the album with Sinead and Willy. That's
almost disgraceful! I assume you've heard her as backup for Peter
Gabriel? and Ja Wabba?(or whatever that one tune band was)

Do you guys seriously just sit here and talk about Sinead? (no offense)
it just seems that material is a little limited. What is she up to
nowadays anyways - besides country music?

Hello!

Just wondering if any of you have heard rumors of a duet with Gavin Friday??? I
spoke to someone at Gavin's management office a few weeks ago and they said it
was being discussed... Haven't heard anything since, though.

Take Care,
  Eva

That's Sinead singing in that song???? I thought it sounded like Cyndi
Lauper!(sp?) And that's Willy Nelson?? Wow- I didn't recognize either
one- I heard it as I was rushing off somewhere in my lil'speedy sunbird
and perhaps wasn't in the mood for a sow song, so I found it sort of
annoying because it kept drrrraaaggginngg on.

Why is it that most of the messages I get from this mailing list are
posted twice? Has anyone else noticed that? or is my computer just
screwed up?

I saw a really good band last night, they're called Rellic. I've only
lived here for ..uh.. 5 months and country is the predominant form of
music. Very few people know alternative besides other outsiders who have
moved here. I'm in the hopping town of Minot, North Dakota. Anyone ever
been here? It's really not that bad but winter is moving in so my opinion
will most likely change proportionately with the dropping temperatures.
