The truth is, she took Hammer up on his offer to pay for her flight back
and went back to Ireland. She then promptly told a magazine that America
was full of rapists and drug-dealers, or something to that effect. Guess we
won't be seeing too much of her on this shore anymore...

Yes. There was a UK Single of that title with a version of the
song that has MC Lyte on it. I have it, but, sadly, have to admit
that I did not commit it's contents to memory. If no one posts
them to the list by this afternoon, I'll do so.

I am trying to revise the lyrics to The Lion and the Cobra
from the ones available in the archive.
I have a few questions about some of the songs, and I thought
it would be best to post my uncertainties here and let everyone
'vote' on what they think it says. Please be open minded here:
just because you've been singing it one way all these years,
doesn't mean it's right! Anyway... anyone interested can mail
me on what they think and the majority will probably be right.
Not to mention this will get some activity going on this list.
I will start mailing the suggestions as soon as I come across
anything I think is different, if you think of something else,
let me know! (BTW: the ones there could be spot on, even so,
I'd like to figure out the ones of the 2 songs not listed)

Thanks for your help (in advance!)

Listed: I do know a Mandinka

Maybe?: I do know Mandinka

(I read in the archives where someone found the meaning of

one of these would make more sense?)

We're starting from scratch here!
go ahead and transcribe the whole
thing if you want!

Drink before the war
--------------------

Listed: you're building a world

maybe?: you're building a wall

(world seems better to me, but I keep hearing wall)

Just call me joe

Once again starting from scratch.

That's what I've been singing since I heard it. WOW what a

I transcribed I Want Your (Hands On Me) last night. Some of the lines are
questionble to me, so after those lines I will put a question mark in
parentheses.

I want your hands on me
Or I won't give me
You know I wanna please you
What I wanna do to you
You don't waste no time do you
You know I'll never trust you (?)
Why you wanna tease me
I want you honey, please me

Chorus:

Put 'em on, put 'em on, put 'em on me
Put 'em on, put 'em on, put 'em on me
Put 'em on, put 'em on, put 'em on me
Put 'em on, put 'em on, put 'em on me
Put 'em on, put 'em on, put 'em on me
Put 'em on, put 'em on, put 'em on me
Put 'em on, put 'em on, put 'em on me
Put 'em on, put 'em on, put 'em on me

You know that I can thrill you
I want you honey, do you (?)
I wanna move near you
I really wanna feel you

(Repeat chorus)

Put your hands on me, put your hands on me
Put your hands on me, put your hands on me
Put your hands on me, put your hands on me
Put your hands on me

(Repeat chorus)

Hands (gimme those)
Hands (gimme those)
Hands (gimme those)
Hands (gimme those)

I want this
Gimme this
Ah

(Repeat chorus)

Well, anyway, that's what I got out of it. I tried to do Just Call Me Joe, but
I had to give up, because I just couldn't understand her over the distortion of
the bass.
