Subject: Some questions on Sinead
Status: OR

 Hi,
Before writing my questions, I introduce myself. My name is
Sundara Pandian. I came to become a Sinead fan, ever since I listened
to her Prince-penned song "Nothing compares 2 u". I am also a fan of
Prince. I like both of them .
      Here are my questions :
  (1) I know the Sinead-Prince controversy. This topic has been discussed
a lot. I do not think that Sinead is a liar. In all her interviews,
she answered questions in a straightforward manner.(Prince is very
shy. He rarely gives interviews). We know only one version of the
story-Sinead's allegations on Prince. What is Prince's version of
what really happened? In his "Rolling Stone" interview, he did not
regret on Sinead's performance of his "NC2U" song. In fact, he
has thanked Sinead O'Connor among others in his latest "Diamonds
and Pearls". He has no hard feelings on her. Somehow, I am not
convinced by Sinead's story. Though this topic has been discussed
a lot, I would like to know any fresh news/comments on this topic.
I have also raised this question in prince@icpsr.umich.edu. Those
who answered it ( only a few answered it ) did not believe Sinead's
story. What do you comment on this controversy?

  (2) Is Sinead working on any new album ? What is its title?

  (3) Is Sinead a Buddhist ? She looks like a Buddhist monk.
I like her hairstyle so much so that I asked my hairstylist to try
the same style for me. Now, I don't have to worry about making an
appointment for a haircut. I feel very much "relieved" in this
      "Buddhist" hairstyle.

      Nothing compares to Sinead......

                                                            Sundara.

This does not have anything directly to do with Sinead, but at the
author's request I am forwarding it to JITR. I am not familiar with
the organization "Update", but many of you may find this interesting.
Please address any comments to the moderator, UPNEWS@VM.MARIST.EDU,
and not to JITR or me.

Thanks,

Subject: Sinead adds voice to Irish abortion case.

On the BBC news this morning they announced that Sinead has added
her voice to those who believe that constitutional change is
essential in Ireland to allow abortion referrals.

For those who haven't heard, a 14-year old girl in Ireland has
become pregnant after being raped by her father's "friend". The law
of the land does not allow her to have an abortion, nor to be
referred to an abortion service in another land (i.e. England for
all practical purposes).

There are a huge number of Irish women every year who come to
England for abortions, but the rape victims father made the mistake
of asking the police for advice. The case has come to the High
Court, but constitutionally their hands are tied, especially as a
recent referendum (last few years) voted against allowing abortion
referrals.

Even the president, Mary Robinson, who is normally above politics
(somewhat different to the US!!) has made statements on the matter.
Needless to say, the bastards in SPUC, Pro-Life etc are totally
intransigent in the matter.

Philip
