Hi,

I saw a bit on MTV NEWS tonight about MC Hammer asking Sinead to leave
the US, and saying that he would pay her ticket. According to Kurt
Loder, Sinead is now living in London and actually mailed MC Hammer
the bill for her ticket.

Does anybody know more about this?

He would pay for her ticket to leave? WHY??? Is he just one of the many who
are overreacting to her admittedly occasionally childish antics? If so, isn't
this reaction a BIT extreme? Is he one of the love-it-or-leave-it types?
I don't know ... I had expected a bit more from hammer ... I've always had a
lot of respect for him (esp. compared to most of his pop peers -- Vanilla Ice,
Wilson Phillips, etc.) ... I dunno ... this kind of belligerence from anyone
just annoys me.

I was flipping through the channels, and happened to catch Peter right
when he was introduced by Sting. I threw in a videotape just in case
anyThinK special happened. Peter did "GWF" by himself, with Sting on
bass (and probably more rock acts in the band). Then Sinhead was
introduced, and sang a song. It was a very nice performance. I don't
know that name of the song, since I haven't followed O'Conner since she
allowed one of the great songs from her classic debut album to be
massacred by a rap artist, but it was one I would be inclined to try to
find (was it on her last album?). Then Peter and Sinhead did "Don't
Give Up" again. After the first verse, I managed to push aside my
prejudice over anyone trying to do what Kate has done, and realized that
Sinead did it her way, not trying to "sound" like Kate, and I found
myself impressed by her effort. It's too bad though that Kate wouldn't
make the short trip to Wembley to appear with Pete. Maybe she's too
busy slithering around some gangly purple bod... OHSAYITAIN'TSO!

Larry (l-h@cup.portal.com) P&K-I'm still waiting.

The new Sinead song is one she did often on her last US tour....
My Special Child...obviously about Jake....she said it was her favorite
at the time (in Saratoga, NY), but that's probably because it was new...
>From what I remember it was a good song, but not ther best...
But then again, I haven't heard the studio version yet...
Has anyone heard the studio version on the radio or bought it yet?
I'm curious as to when the official release date is...

Hi,

Well, could the song be a flipside of one of the singles? OR another cover
song (like 'Irish laws and Irish ways')? Whatever it was, my cable company
screwed it up, and I could hardly hear her. I didn't even hear what PG
said when he introduced her. Also, I'd rather have KaTe Bush sing Don't
Give Up!

BTW, for Boston area jitr's: Where can I special order the Three Babies CD-5?
I asked at the Coop, Newbury Comics, and Tower Records, and they told me
they special order only classical records! Should I try Second Coming Records?

I will be grateful for any info,

think Ron Buckmire said something about her favorite song in one of his

When I saw Sinead in March (just rubbing it in :-)) she said that "My Young Son"
was her favouriet song, but that "Three Babies" and "Last Day Of Our
Acquaintance" were her favourite songs that had been released.

She said tha she was writing songs,bu I got the impression she was not going
to record or release anything until 1992, but with Sinead one can never tell.
I don't have the "Three Babies" Cd5, is it worth it getting the live version
of "Troy" [I don't like live versions in general] and "The Value Of Ignorance"?

Absolutely. I'd say it was worthwhile just for "Damn Your Eyes" and
"The Value of Ignorance", the latter of which is a winner and reminds
me very much of "Jump in the River". The live version of "Troy" is
very raw and emotional, much different from the orchestral arrangement
on TLATC, and I'd get the CD5 just for that, too. And of course
another copy of "Three Babies" (it's the same mix as the album) is all
right to have.

Chris Dow, whose office is down the hall, got this some months back and
has enjoyed pretty good "nyaaah nyaaah" rights for a while, but I got the
last laugh a few weeks ago when I found it in the Tower Records single/EP
bin erroneously marked $3.44 [it's supposed to be $7.44]. Best CD
value of the year so far. :-)

I saw the Margie Gillis show last night. She's a Canadian dancer,
very contemporary. The show consisted of several (8) solo pieces.
One of the pieces was titled "Desert", and the music used for it was
"I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got". I've always thought of that song
as one of Sinead's poorer effort; it just seems undeveloped and
stretched out. Margie's choreography added a new dimension to it,
though. She wore a yellowish costume, and danced under a small
spotlight. It seemed to be about living in the "desert" of life, but
of course that's just my opinion. The song suited the dance well,
although I still don't like it much.

I'm not in the Providence area, but what I did to get it was to keep
going to three different non-mainstream music stores in Palo Alto,
Sunnyvale, and Cupertino at least once a month until it popped in the
one in Cupertino. I was really suprised that Michael got it at Tower,
but that was the Tower in SF, so maybe they are a little different.
You may in fact have to go to Boston, but if you know of a somewhat
alternative store in Boston, there is a chance that they'll let you
order it by mail (the store in Cupertino does mail order).

The rapper was MC Lyte (female) and it is on the 12" version of the single. I
have seen the video, but never the actual record in any store.

o *Urk!* That was with MC Lyte, who, in my opinion,
is to hip hop what "lite" is to beer. I don't think
much of that particular record -- but MC Lyte did turn
in an astonishing performance in the video for Public
Enemy's "Night of the Living Baseheads."

I like that assessment of MC Lyte. I've never been vary impressed by her
either. Monie Love and Queen Latifah are much closer to my taste.
