>>Arsenio: Sinead O'Connor (1990 repeat)

thanks for the info, from those of us who missed it the first time around!
Also, wasn't Sinead on Arsenio another time? When she sang "Irish Ways
and Irish laws"? If anyone knows when it will be shown as a repeat pls
let me/us know!

I liked the interview last night.
I liked when she kept saying she was human. She made a really good point
when she said "I'm human, and I'm young ... so I do all of my growing up
in public". This is very true. I remember alot of ppl knocking her for
doing "stupid" things, but I think that everyone does stupid things growing
up, just not IN FRONT OF *EVERYONE*!
I especially liked when Arsenio asked her about wanting to become a nun.
She said it was true that she wanted to become a nun, but "I changed my
mind when I found out u can't have sex". I laughed! :-)

She seems more shy than I had thought she was before hearing her talk, and
quite more open-minded and reasonable than the impression alot of ppl seem
to have of her. I thought the interview was a good one.

What did people think of "You Do Something To Me"? I never heard that before.
Does anyone have "Red Hot and Blue"? How is it?
Has anyone seen Sinead with hair??? ;-)

[How is Red Hot & Blue?]

I think it's a really good record. I like having it on CD, though, because
it's easy to program around the songs you don't like much (the Tom Waits
tune immediately comes to mind :-), because of the disparity of the artists.
You can get it on MFSL UltraDisk too if you can afford it (proceeds still go
to charity). I'd recommend it.

[Has anyone seen Sinead with hair?]

Not recently, no. However, Rolling Stone, when they interviewed her last year
(not for the "Artist of the Year" thing), had old school pictures of her
with hair. She looked good, IMHO. Also, on SPIN's 5th anniversary issue,
they did a sort of "artist's rendition" of Sinead with hair. It looked
a bit strange, because they gave her fairly long hair (longer than shoulder-
length), but it was a good chuckle, anyway. I suppose you could count the
time she was in disguise outside the music hall she was about to play in,
but that whole get-up was really icky. Plus, I haven't seen it for myself,
but I understand she wears a wig in the "You Do Something To Me" video.

And now for a question of my own: I saw a short paperback Sinead biography
in the bookstore the other day. Does anyone have this? Is it worth getting?

Who needs hair when you have Those Eyes?

___
__ Gee, I like the Tom Waits song. :-) (Note that if you buy
_ _Stay_Awake_ for Sinead's rendition of "Someday My Prince
Will Come," you'll also get Tom Wait's outstanding version
    of "Hi Ho!")
___
 __ I can't stand the Iggy Pop/Debbie Harry song on _Red_Hot_
_ _+_Blue_, nor that wretched version of "Begin the Beguine."
I've made a tape of the CD without those tunes. I'm
thinking of making a new tape without the boring Jody Watley
and Aztec Camera cuts, but then I'd be light on material.
___
__ Do any Cole Porter fans out there know any modern remakes
_ I could put onto my tape? (I'm adding Billie Holliday's
version of "I Get A Kick Out Of You," though it's not that
    modern . . .)

Hi,

Could someone please post the information I will need to special order the
CD single of Three Babies? (Catalog (?) Number)

I have looked everywhere and cannot find it. If anyone in Boston knows a
place that carries it please let me know.

Someone wrote asking about pictures of SOC with hair. Well the paperback
biography has got a couple. (One is the same that appeared in Rolling Stone).

Thanks for the info,

Angelos

Subject: Announcing the JUMP IN THE RIVER Archive
To: jitr
Status: OR

I am pleased to announce that the Jump In The River Archives are now
online. Access for the present is limited to anonymous FTP, which
should accomodate most of those on the Internet (about 80% of the
list). There may be a mail archive server available in the future, as
I am investigating archive server software in connnection with a
proposed Usenet moderated newsgroup that I am involved with.

Those who cannot get to the archive by FTP may continue to send file
requests to me at jitr-request@presto.ig.com and I will fill them as
quickly as possible.

The contents of the archive are at presently rather modest: a
collection of the messages sent to JITR, broken up into quarterly
chunks; and the lyrics files for the albums THE LION AND THE COBRA
and I DO NOT WANT WHAT I HAVEN'T GOT. Several readers have advised me
they are working on comprehensive discographies, so they will show up
there eventually as well. The message files are named "archiveYY.Q"
where "YY" are the last two digits of the year and "Q" is the quarter
[1,2,3,4]. The current quarter's messages are in the file "archive".

OK, here's the scoop: the archive is on the host turbo.bio.net (NOT
presto.ig.com where the list lives; presto is down the hall from
turbo, and they're both on the same Ethernet, but we run them for
different groups). The IP address of turbo.bio.net is 134.172.3.69.

The files are in the directory "jitr". Here's a sample anonymous FTP
session; those who are familiar with FTP can skip over this part.
The sample shows a UNIX ftp client; the dialogue may be slightly
different for those on other implementations.

Just picked up _The Lion in the Cage_ bootleg CD.. Not bad-- recorded
from the crowd, so there is a bit of "up close and personal" crowd
noise. Beyond that, it seems to be a good concert.
