Are there two versions of TENC CD single? I just found one that contains
The following tracks:

1: TENC (LP version)
2: TENC (Main mix)_
3: What Do You Want?
4: Mandinka (Jake's remix)

I thought all of the other copies I saw had the LP version and about
6 remixes of I am Stretched On Your Grave. Am I thinking of a different
cd single, or are there really two versions? The cat. number is F2 23585.

Greetings to you, Sinead fans of the World!!

Here's a short word form a BIG Chilean fan, praising the talent of our
beloved bald singer...
Sinead (and the band) were here for a week, in the middle of the biggest
concert ever to be held in Chile. Any of you guys/girls ever heard of
Amnesty International?? Well, it seems that Sinead got interested, and as
she was asked to participate, we had the pleasure of seeing her on stage.
Besides, the fact that we had some top figures of modern music playing
in our National Stadium here in Santiago (Sting, Peter Gabriel, and the
disgusting NKOTB,among others...) was something quite appalling. More than
120'000 people, over two days, enjoyed the music and shared a sense of free-
dom that only music can give.
Back to Sinead: The day she arrived, there were hundreds of NKOTB fans
at the airport, expecting the 5 little bastards to come up anytime. Since
Sinead is very popular anyhow, they all startedshouting about and crying.
It seems she wasn't ready for this welcome, but she took it quite well.
A couple of hours later, at the press conference held in one of Santiago's
most luxurious hotels, one of the stupid reporters actually made some nas-
ty comments about Sinead not being too feminine. She got quite upset at
that, an proceeded to show the guy the skirt she was wearing at the time, and
her blouse. The guy had no choice but to shut the fuck up.
The concert itself was awesome. I spent 8 hours waiting for Sinead to
come on stage, but when she finally did, it was excellent. She was wearing
a tracksuit and she played the guitar on the first two songs. Then, to
the amazement of the 80'000 people gathered there, she took off the top of
her tracksuit, showing she was wearing a black bra. People, needless to say,
were shocked. At this point I must say that Chile is basically a Catholic
country where the Church has a strong influence on people's lives. Pretty
damn stupid, if you ask me. After that, she proceeded to play most of her
second album, some of the most popular songs from The Lion And the Cobra,
(by the way, this album is not on sale in Chile, I had to get it from the
States) and two songs I'd never heard. One of them was 'a cappella' and the
other was something about Ireland (at least that's what I got from the words).

She gave plenty of interviews, all of which showed her deep concern for
our country, and her knowledge of our past 16 years of history. As a matter
of fact, she dedicated 'Stretched on your grave' to Rodrigo Rojas Denegri,
a young man who was killed by police about three years ago, just because
he was caught demonstrating against the dictator Pinochet. She was really
brilliant on every single interview; however, one sad note is to be remem-
bered from these interviews. She mentioned that she probably wouldn't record
again for at least two years. Let's hope she was just bullshitting.

Now I'd like to ask for some help. You see, I'm currently working for
this local musical mag, and I'm trying to figure out the words of 'The
Lion & The Cobra'. I've managed to work out some of them, but some I just
can't. I'd been using the LISTSERV services, but they don't have any of them.
Is there a generous soul out there who could help me?? I'd appreciate
any kind of help and/or news on Sinead.
                                         Sergio Lucero.

P.S: Don't ever forget that all you need is inside you.

I haven't seen anything posted about this yet, so perhaps I am the only
person whose tastes in Pink Floyd and Sinead O'Connor overlap...

In the new live 2-CD set of Roger Waters performing THE WALL at the Berlin
Wall, Sinead is one of the performers; in fact, she solos the song "Mother".
Haven't heard the CD yet, so I can't give any recommendations. But for
you SOC completists...

Set your VCR's I read in Today's paper that Sinead will be on the Arsenio Hall
show tonight. It is syndicated around the country but is usually on around 11pm
in most areas. I presume she will be performing [Nothing Compares 2 U and the
next single, since "Three Babies" died a horrible death in the USA.]

In other Sinead nwes she was awarded a BILLBOARD award for best selling worldwide single for "Nothing Compares 2 U" [that's probly why she is in town and is
doing the Arsenio show in the first place]. bi4now;

Sorry to be picky but I didn't want anyone to think this was some strange
Irish or Gaelic word:)

The CD of "Captive" has been easily available in the US in the past. It is on
Virgin Records America and when I picked it up some 3 years ago the longbox
contained the full UK import CD pressed by Nimbus with a CDV #### (i.e. Virgin
UK) catalogue number as were many of their discs at the time. Makes one
wonder how they can sell it here for $14 when it costs $20 in the UK. Seems
like CD buyers in the UK are really getting shafted. The disc is only 35 mins
long but contains some beautiful instrumental work by The Edge.

I'm talking about the fact that "Nothing Compares 2 U" is one of the biggest
singles of the year [only "Vision Of Love" and "Another Day In Paradise" even
come close, barely] and yet the two folowup singles "The Emperor's New
Clothes" [BAD choice, in my popinion, should have gone with "stretched.." ]
and "Three Babies" didn't even chart upwards of #60!

That is why I say "three Babies' died a horribe death. I think they are tryng
to release "strethched..." now. It shuld be interesting to see if she mentions
"Red Hot and Vlue" and the fact that AB made her cut her video because it
showed same-sex couples dancing together. bi4now;

"Red Hot and Vlue" and the fact that AB made her cut her video because it
showed same-sex couples dancing together. bi4now;

The soundtrack to "THE CAPTIVE" is awesome! I can't believe none of you have heard
it before. You can get it in just about any record store in the Philadelphia
area, so I would imagine it is available elsewhere.

If anyone has real trouble tracking it down, I'd be more than willing to
make a copy of mine for you. It's definitely an album worth having!

I got the soundtrack on CD from Noteworthy for like $9. Good deal.

On a lark, I bought the video of "Captive" for $4.99 at a clearance sale.
The movie features a *really* dumb "Patty Hearst" plot, labored acting, and
a sped-up soundtrack.

Thumbs up? Thumbs down? I give this movie... the finger.

I have a correction to make here. Sinead *sang* on the song "Hawaiian
Island World". She appeared in the video for the song "Private
Revolution". That, I believe, was her only work with World Party on
that particular album.

Noteworthy a few years back. Well I just thumbed through the latest
catalog (Fall '90) and want do ya know, its still available. For those

Anybody got a tack listing of this CD ? Is Sinead only on one song ?

Subject: SOC on Arsenio last night
Date: Wed, 28 Nov 90 13:29:10 EST
Status: OR

Thanks to Ron for letting us know about this. It was probably the first time
SOC gave an interview in front of an audience! Her performance of the
Cole Porter song was quite good. In the conversation with Arsenio, she was
quite shy in the beginning, but then started talking, and I think she
embarassed Arsenio with her "Black boys on Mopeds" comments...

SOC is also featured quite heavily in the 1990 yearbook issue of Rolling Stone.
There are several photographs of her (the best has to be one where she is
wearing a blond wig and is dressed like a '40s nightclub singer which is from
her video for the "red hot and blue" album). Her work is discussed in many
different articles throughout the magazine.

Really what's the story on her "(can't remember the name of the Cole Porter
song)" video. I remember a posting a few weeks back about it not going to be
included in the ABC special etc. Is there an update on that?

I did find the soundtrack to Captive here in Indiana. I believe that it was
at a Camalot Music Store in Indianapolis. This has been a few years ago though.
It is decent, but nothing outstanding.

Does anyone know if Sinead also sang on The Edge's solo album _Snake Charmer_.
I have never seen this anywhere. Has anyone seen this anywhere?

Also. Sinead sings a duet with Matt Johnson (The The) on their latest album.

Well, I thought it wasn't going to be shown because it contained scenes of
same-sex couples dancing, but the promo I saw on ABC showdeed her in that video,
for a split-second. They were listing all the people associated with the
show in rapid-fire style (as TV promos do), and they mentioned SOC, so maybe
they'll show it after all. Guess we'll have to wait 'til Saturday to find
out.

I listened to the song "Sweet Soul Dream" on the World Party
CD _Goodbye Jumbo_ last night. Although in the insert, SOC is
credited with background vocals, I can't find a single place in the
song where it even sounds like there are any backing vocals, much less
SOC. Oh, well, maybe she was edited out.

I don't know about the Edge, though I always have heard that she was initially
kind of an Edge/u2 protege (I'm sure she would kill me for saying that.) She
is, however on a great song from The The's _Mind Bomb_ LP, "Kingdom of Pain,"
where she and Matt Johnson sing a great duet.

I'm not sure if someone has already cleared this up, but just to set the
record straight..... the song Sinead did with the Edge for the "Captive"
soundtrack was "HEROIN." It's a cover of the classic Velvet Underground
song.

|G|ood album, that, though I believe the song is called "Kingdom
`-' of Rain." No relation to "King of Pain" by The Police.

|H|ee hee. Imagine what life would be like if there were a

We upgraded the operating system on presto.ig.com last night, and
unfortunately some of the file system backups were corrupt. I had
made a number of additions and deletions to the JITR list yesterday
afternoon, and from ~0900 to ~1400 California time today, the list
changes were lost. So some people may not have gotten anything sent
to JITR last night or this morning; I think there were 2 or 3
messages.

The correct list has now been restored from a different backup, and
following this message I will re-send the last several JITR messages
because they did not make it to the entire list. Some of you will be
getting duplicate messages; I apologize for the inconvenience.
I will also try to clean up the archive as well.
