Translation into protein



Messenger RNA travels through the cytoplasm until it reaches a ribosome. It then delivers its information, but there's one more step. Ribosomes don't speak mRNA, and must call in their translators: transfer RNAs (tRNAs).


Transfer RNAs decode the message and assemble the amino acids it specifies in the order listed. A polypeptide chain forms and is released into the cytoplasm, to travel elsewhere for further processing.
