Richard Ellis, recognized as one of America's foremost painters of marine natural history subjects, is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. His published books include
The Book of Sharks, The Book of Whales, Dolphins and Porpoises, Men and Whales,
Great White Shark (with John E. McCosker and Al Giddings), Physty: The True Story of a Young Whale's Rescue, Monsters of the Sea, and Deep Atlantic: Life, Death, and Exploration in the Abyss.
Richard is working on an update of Great White Shark, and also books on Atlantis and on the giant squid. He has published more than eighty articles in such magazines as National Geographic, Audubon, and Geo, and he has led cruises in such places as Alaska and Antartica for the American Museum of Natural History.
